Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Does This Fit My Identity?

As soon as the Pen Fairy made a dash for the classroom door, Alex Carter caught up and gave it a kick.

"Keep running! Let's see how far you get!"

With that, Alex grabbed the Pen Fairy by the head and stuffed it into the sack.

"Woooooo—"

The Pen Fairy struggled, but Alex's strength was overwhelming, making resistance futile.

"Why do I suddenly feel sorry for this ghost?" the long-haired girl mused, watching the scene unfold.

"It's not just you; I feel the same," Michael admitted with a grin. "Compared to him, someone else seems more like the ghost."

The short-haired girl felt her worldview shatter. She was at a loss for words.

The trio watched Alex tie the sack tightly with a rope from his waist.

"System, where should I sell this ghost? Any recommendations?" Alex asked, eyeing the squirming sack.

**[Ding dong! The female ghost's appearance is above average. Considering her Pen Fairy traits, it's recommended to sell her to a school to teach and mentor other ghosts.]**

That's far better than a mine. This ghost got lucky.

"Then sell it!" Alex decided.

**[Ding dong! You successfully sold an ordinary female ghost to Despair Elementary School in Another World, gaining +300 Ghost Trafficking Points.]**

**[Ding dong! As a token of gratitude for your contribution to another world's education, the principal has gifted you a mysterious item X1.]**

"This principal is generous!" Alex was thrilled. Reflecting on past sales to the mines, he realized the mine owner never even acknowledged him.

What a stark contrast!

"Swindler!" Alex thought angrily.

"Master, is it over?" Michael asked, seeing the sack deflate quickly.

"Yes, it's over. You can head back now," Alex replied casually. "If this happens again, come to me! I'll give you a 20% discount."

The trio's faces darkened.

Once is enough. Who'd want a repeat?

They murmured inwardly but bid Alex goodbye honestly and left.

Notably, before leaving, the long-haired girl asked for Alex's contact information. Without hesitation, Alex handed her a business card.

After they left, Alex sat down and pondered, "System, is there anything to help me capture ghosts? It's too much trouble using a sack every time."

**[Ding dong! Suitable items have been screened for you.]**

The system's prompt sounded, and information poured into Alex's mind.

**Confused Ghost's Brick:** On the surface, an ordinary brick, but imbued with ghost power after years of use by the Confused Ghost.

Use this to strike an enemy's head for a surprise!

Note: Effectiveness decreases on evil spirits and above.

**Price:** 170 Ghost Points

**Satyr's Saddle:** Appears to be an ordinary saddle, but infused with ghost power by a Satyr.

Using this will trap the enemy. Effectiveness doubles on female ghosts.

Note: Effectiveness decreases on evil spirits and above.

**Price:** 170 Ghost Points

Initially hopeful, Alex fell into deep silence after seeing the system's recommendations.

What on earth are these?

And those descriptions!

It's all so perverse!

"System, really?" Alex asked. "What do these say about my identity?"

**[Ding dong! You are a ghost dealer. What identity do you seek?]**

"..."

Alex thought for a moment and conceded the point.

"Fine, system, exchange the brick for me!"

**[Ding dong! Successfully exchanged for the Confused Ghost's Brick, costing 170 Ghost Points.]**

"Convert the remaining points into ghost fruits for me."

**[Ding dong! Successfully exchanged 13 Ghost Power Fruits, costing 130 Ghost Points.]**

As the system's voice faded, Alex felt his ghost power surge!

His personal panel now displayed:

**[Host: Alex Carter]**

**[Level: Demon Level]**

**[Physical Constitution: 240 (average adult is 10)]**

**[Ghost Power: 240]**

**[Item: Confused Ghost's Brick]**

**[Ghost Value: 0]**

"Not bad," Alex nodded, satisfied. "Soon, I'll reach Specter level."

In this world, ghosts are graded from low to high: Lonely Ghosts, Ordinary Ghosts, Evil Ghosts, and Specter Ghosts.

To possess Specter power, Alex needs both his physical and ghost power attributes to reach 1,000 points each.

Otherwise, boosting just physique won't harm ghosts, and increasing only ghost power would be unbearable for the body.

The two attributes must complement each other.

"Now for the exciting part—unboxing!" Alex rubbed his hands eagerly. "System, open the mysterious gift from Despair Elementary School's principal!"
