Chapter 19 - Anarchy?

I woke to a muffled firefight. Soft explosions and gunshots, accompanied by the whine of laser cutting air and the loud release of vapor as someone got cut by the beam of extreme heat. There was a weight on my chest that felt vaguely like Rena. I sat up with Rena floating to sit on my shoulders. With a thought I brought up a live view from one of my droids.

They were significantly outnumbered but the droids had way more power. They were engaged with what looked like heavily borged maelstrom, and when I say heavy I mean they were all nearly full borg. Most were already dead, metal and flesh sliced open by indiscriminate, ruthless laser. The only ones still alive were those who were registered as lower tier threats.

A flash of light ended the droid I was connected to and I switched to another. The droids quickly melted away a wall and shot through a pillar, ending the idiot with a tech gun. With that snipers death a new wave of Borge's out maelstrom gangers ran in. The biggest threat was a giant monster of steel and rotten flesh. The beast had a forearm replaced with an HMG fed by a large ammo pack on his back. Five of my 13 remaining droids fell to the explosive barrage almost instantly as the rest started melting swathes of metal for the giants body. The monstrosity practically shrugged of my droids lasers and continued firing, leaving me with 4 droids in the battle. I sent the order for them to take cover and drew one of my weapons. The tech weapons of this world were pretty advanced however, they were worthless compared to my railguns. I set the gun to fire on its lowest setting, I wanted to pop the brute like a grape under a boot, not blow an AV sized hole in the building. I lined up my shot from my position sitting on the bed and fired.

The building shook as my shot slid through everything and shattered into my target. The shockwaves hit, caving and crushing anything in the vicinity. The blast funneled up and out of the building, signaling to the city that a powerful weapon had been used. My target collapsed, his flesh reduced to human goop and his metal fragmenting and flaking away as molecular bond shook apart. He crumbled to a pile of goo and dust where he stood, his life not even having time to flash before his eyes.

The whole building and everyone in or out of it froze. My droids however did not. They quickly put down the rest and began cleaning up. The droids were quite smart, they could do pretty much anything I needed. Cleanup was what was called for right now. Despite having only 4 droids it barely took an hour to clean up everything and do decent repairs.

The only thing left was paying for every window in the megabuilding to be replaced. The badges were at a lose on what to do. I was clearly a powerful man, someone who likely had hidden connections with powerful corporations. The dead were all maelstrom, no one cared about their deaths. The other end was that these guys were obviously carrying experimental chrome from multiple corporations and had likely been sent by one. They had practically nothing to do so I simply payed them to help out with repairs.

I payed them quite a lot, as well as having some bribes sent up the chain. Having the 'law' on my side would be just slightly helpful. The repairs were over with quickly and soon enough I was dealing with mercs sent to spy and gather info on me. Most got their shit fried by my main droid AI which I'd finally hooked up to an actual connection. It quickly devoured multiple hostile AI trying to get me, then fucked with nearly a hundred other human idiots. Their minds were forced into a labyrinth of sorts and the first escapees quickly left the net after I found out who they were.

I easily dug up who they were and their connections. One was the cat girl Sasha Yakovleva, the other two were Kiwi and Lucy. The three had quickly found and recognized each other. Their teamwork and combined skill allowed them to escape 4 seconds ahead of the second placer, and 6 seconds ahead of the third. The only people I hadn't had trapped were netwatch people. I quickly pointed them in the direction of the hostile AIs that had survived my droid AI counter attack.

I organized a meeting with the three girls and multiple other mercs that had caught my attention. Most were ones I recognized slightly from the game and anime, including a redhead I couldn't remember well. There was suspiciously little details on her, not even her full name. Many of the mercs I had given invites had medical training but she easily had the most experience with multiple years more than most.

The meeting was scheduled for later as I had some chaos to give to the corpo assholes. Having my AI propagate tons of anarchist/rise up propaganda was easy. Getting my physical revenge was a bit harder. The attack was mostly done by a bug of a team up between Arasaka and Militech. It was easy to get to the buildings however, I was having a hard time finding a good way to terrorize them without causing mass casualties.

I wanted them to know that they shouldn't mess with me but annihilating their buildings would only make me a bad guy. My best idea was to use a powerful demon to cripple their net. I easily broke into a server room and implanted a cripple and shattered copy of my droid AI. It's broken mind quickly took over the systems and caused mass chaos in everything the server was connected to. As this was Arasaka HQ it had a lot of connections to annihilate.

I left the tower as fast and quietly as I could before doing the same to Militech. After a few hours, I activated my full plan and had my saboteurs lead the blackwall to them. As they'd taken over their targets the blackwall attacked both the AI and the systems they were on. I could see massive amounts of smoke as high power tech burned holes through the buildings.

After the attack on those buildings I sent multiple droid AIs to insert hundreds of demons through the connections I had kept, given to me by the broken AIs. The Militech Watson base went up in flames, and the Arasaka waterfront and industrial park started burning or blowing up. Thousands of reports had already been made about the incidents and Militech had already stated their intention to hunt down and execute the perpetrators.

The fools had no idea that all their systems had already been compromised as the broken AIs had opened the way for more of my AI. After the Militech statement both corporations had sent undercover agents to deliver cease fires to me. The powerful, corrupt idiots would fall upon their own blade, all while they thanked me for letting them prepare to attack me.

I agreed to their request of peace, knowing that my seeds of destruction had already grown into sprouts of anarchy.
