Yang Xiao spotted Izuku Midoriya not far ahead. He didn't intend to go over and greet him, continuing on his own way.
"Move it..."
While Yang Xiao was observing U.A. High School, a slightly hoarse voice came from behind him. He turned his head and saw a head of sandy, explosively spiky hair. Who else could it be but Katsuki Bakugo?
Is this how this guy treats everyone? Yang Xiao thought to himself, but he still moved aside. There was no need to clash with Katsuki Bakugo now; they would likely be classmates in the future.
Seeing Yang Xiao willingly step aside, a flicker of satisfaction, mixed with a trace of doubt, passed through Bakugo's eyes, but he quickly dismissed it. He then shouted at Izuku Midoriya ahead: "Out of my way!"
"Kacchan?" Izuku Midoriya was all too familiar with that voice. Turning around, he saw Katsuki Bakugo walking towards him.
"Don't block my path, or I'll kill you!" Bakugo frowned, his tone intensely aggressive.
This scene felt somewhat familiar to Yang Xiao, a very classic opening, almost identical to what he remembered.
"G-good morning... Good morning, listen, we're both..." Midoriya stammered, as flustered as ever when facing Bakugo. But Bakugo didn't even glance at him, brushing straight past.
Apparently, some people nearby recognized Bakugo as the one involved in the sludge incident and looked at him with some surprise.
However, Bakugo paid no attention to their stares and strode forward on his own.
Yang Xiao didn't continue watching the two of them and also walked ahead.
The Hero Course at U.A. High School is a training institution for acquiring the qualifications needed to become professional heroes. It's the most popular but also the most difficult department of its kind in the country.
Its competition ratio exceeds 300:1 every year.
The Symbol of Peace, All Might, who refused a national honor award.
The Flame Hero: Endeavor, with the highest case resolution rate in history.
The trendy Best Jeanist, who topped the popularity charts for eight consecutive years.
Graduating from U.A. is practically a prerequisite for becoming a top-tier hero, which is why so many aspire to enter this high school.
Yang Xiao followed the crowd into the assembly hall. The hall was open to all examinees. Yang Xiao knew that Present Mic would be giving a pre-exam pep talk.
Present Mic is an English teacher at U.A. High School, also known as the Voice Hero. He was a classmate of Shota Aizawa during their school days.
He serves as the live commentator for the entrance exam and the sports festival. He likes to call students "listeners." He has a fatal weakness: he's particularly scared of insects.
After finding a seat, Yang Xiao lazily leaned back and waited for Present Mic. The people around him were strangers, mostly background characters. Yang Xiao didn't pay them much mind...
Wait...
He hadn't gotten a clear look at the person next to him earlier. Now that the guy turned slightly, Yang Xiao immediately recognized him. Not only did he know him, he was very familiar with him.
Tenya Iida!
He's extremely serious. During the entrance exam orientation, he was deeply annoyed by Izuku Midoriya's muttering and strongly criticized him. In class, he was equally disgusted by Katsuki Bakugo putting his feet on the desk and stepped in to stop it. He readily admits his own mistakes and apologizes. He's so serious that even his walking posture is rigid.
In short, Tenya Iida is a very earnest person, sometimes to the point of being stiff or stubborn.
Iida just glanced at Yang Xiao and didn't pay him further attention. Yang Xiao didn't feel the need to greet Iida either. Let things flow naturally; no need to get excited about an initial meeting.
"Alright, alright, welcome, all my LISTENERS here for the exam, to my live show! EVERYBODY SAY 'HEY'!"
Once everyone was seated, Present Mic appeared. As soon as he took the stage, he spoke as if he owned the place, capturing everyone's attention.
Yang Xiao had scanned the people around him earlier. He had looked over almost everyone and didn't spot any other transmigrators mixed in. This suggested he might be the only one aiming for U.A. High School.
Were the other three transmigrators abroad? In other factions? Or could they be entering U.A. as recommended students?
Yang Xiao didn't dwell on it for now. If other transmigrators did enter U.A., it meant they were likely allies, so no need to worry. If not, that was fine too. Yang Xiao could develop at his own pace while investigating the whereabouts of the other three. However, Yang Xiao knew it would be much easier for the other three to find him than vice versa.
Present Mic picked up the microphone and delivered that line in English, hoping for a response, but nobody reacted.
"Tough crowd... Okay!" Present Mic shrugged and continued, "Then, examinees, I'll now briefly explain the outline of the practical exam!"
Basically, all candidates would participate in a 10-minute "Simulated City Battle." They could bring any items they needed. Everyone would proceed to their assigned testing venue.
There were three types of numerous "villain bots" in the arena, each assigned points based on their respective "difficulty levels."
The goal for everyone was to use their Quirks to defeat these villain bots and earn points.
Attacking other examinees went against the spirit of heroism and was strictly prohibited.
As Present Mic explained this, Tenya Iida, sitting next to Yang Xiao, suddenly stood up and shouted loudly, "Excuse me! May I ask a question?"
Although Yang Xiao knew Iida was going to do this, he was still startled. Why is this guy's voice so loud? Sitting next to him is a bit hard on the ears.
"OK!" Present Mic approved Iida's request. A spotlight instantly illuminated Iida, and everyone turned to look at him.
Yang Xiao subtly shifted his position slightly away from Iida. Iida, holding an information pamphlet, declared, "The handout lists four types of faux villains! If this is a misprint, it is a serious error for Japan's top hero academy, U.A.! We examinees are here seeking the utmost fairness from this institution!"
Then Iida suddenly changed focus, turning and pointing loudly at Izuku Midoriya, "And you, the curly-haired boy over there!"
"Eh?" Midoriya pointed at himself awkwardly. Me?
Iida was clearly referring to Midoriya, "You've been muttering to yourself since the beginning! It's incredibly distracting! If this is just a field trip for you, please leave immediately!"
Midoriya immediately covered his mouth. He hadn't expected to make such a scene on his first day at U.A. It was utterly embarrassing.
Although Yang Xiao was well aware of Iida's personality, he was still affected by the sheer seriousness. This guy is really rigid. There's a certain charm in his awkwardness. You could call him adorably earnest.
