In emergency ward, two strachers were pushed at full speed. Doctors and nurses ran alongside them until they reached the operating theater.
OT's red light flickered on.
Within minutes, news spread like wildfire across the whole world.
"BreakingNews!
Kim Seo-Yeon, former CEO of Korea's well-reputed company, has been caught in a sudden accident. Her car exploded in front of Kim Enterprise. According to reporters, Ms. Yeon and her secretary were seriously injured and moved to Seoul National Hospital. No further updates have been released." Every news channel broadcast it.
"Ms. Yeon...Ms.Yeon!"
As Ji Min heard a blast on her phone, she and Yoo Han left hurriedly. Yoo Han stopped the car in front of the hospital. Ji Min jumped out and ran towards the emergency building.
"Ji Min!" Yoo Han tried to stop her, but she had already gone. The moment she reached the entrance, reporters surrounded her.
"Ms. Min! Ms. Min!" They pushed forward, stomping on each other.
"How's Ms. Yeon's condition?" As the camera flashed widely, Ji Min's world began to spin. Her hands trembled. The questions of reports turned into laughing whispers in her ears. Unknown faces appeared before her eyes. Her breath hitched as the noise grew louder. A reporter stepped forward,
"Ms. Min, do you think that there's mafia involvement? police found a boom under her car?"
'Mafia!' This word was enough to make her stumble. That's when she realized her mistake. She rushed here without guards.
"Ms. Min, why aren't you answering? Is there something you are hiding?" She closed her eyes, trying to breathe the rising panic. Accusations shattered around her.
Then, she felt warmth around her waist.
Yoo Han.
His hands tightened across Ji Min's trembling hands.
Yoo Han's presence made the reporters step back. He was the person who not only sasaengs but reporters never tried to cross.
"What do you want to know?" Yoo Han turned his cold gaze to reporters. They kept shut like someone got their tongue.
"Multiple lives fighting with death inside. Hope one day you cover them, this eagerly." He said coldly. As he took stepped forward, reporters made way for him.
In a dark room, lights flicker faintly red. J was watching a live broadcast on Tv, his jaw twitching.
"These damn reporters will gonna blame us, even if a cat dies in the street." He mumbled and took a sip of wine.
"Boss, do you think she'll survive?" His assistant asked, cautiously.
J stared at a pic of the accident, victims covered in blood. He stood up and moved closer to the screen. "She'll be ok, but that little secretary... is gonna be sacrificed for nothing."
In Paris, Kim Rahae was in a board meeting when her secretary rushed in and turned on the live broadcast.
"Ms.Yeon's condition is getting worse with every passing moment..."
The world seems to collapse around her. "Meeting canceled!"
She ordered abruptly, heading out of the room.
In the hospital, Ji Min had calmed now, but tears continued to flow silently. Yoo Han leaned to the OT door like a helpless child at a candy stall. Ji Min gently placed his hand on his shoulder, "She's brave," her voice shattered, "more than us." Yoo Han hugged her tightly, breaking down.
"She's so brave, but my heart aches seeing her like this. Why can't it be me? Why her, everytime!" Ji Min caressed his back. "Because she knows that you'll bring her back to life," she whispered, "as you did twelve years ago."
Inside OT, doctors were cleaning and stitching wounds. Seo-Yeon's eyes flickered, vision blurred due to anesthesia.
This felt familiar... her eyes slowly shut.
Twelve years ago,
Beep.
Beep.
The heart monitor echoed in the silent room. Young Seo-Yeon slowly opened her eyes. Her blurry vision took time to clear. She turned her head and saw Ji Min covered in wires, lifeless.
People whispering on the other side of the wall.
"Doctor, how's my kids?" Kim Rahae asked anxiously.
"We save him, but..." The doctor hesitated, knowing that the patient's family was already suffering.
"But, what?" Mr. Park asked.
Doctor sighed and continued, "But they are so young. You know what I am saying. You have to be mentally prepared for outcome."
He explained in a perfect professional way.
Seo-Yeon turned to Ji Min, and memories started shattering.
"Hahaha!" laughter echoed. Creepy, distorted. Glass breaking, steel rods, candles burning, soft skin, and a dark room. Deadly dark pit.
One night, but filled with purest chaos. Someone was on plane praying for her child. Some hugging the beloved in the hospital's corridor. Some were watching a live broadcast. Some were sipping wine and betting on lives.
