[Volume 2: Multivere - START]
---
Upon entering the otherworld, Morpheus immediately knew he was a clone.
But that was fine. This clone retained all of his original self's memories, making it nearly identical to the original—except it wasn't as powerful.
Due to the world's rejection, his original self had stripped away 99.999% of his power.
Even so, Morpheus was far from weak.
His current strength? Compared to a Campione, he was naturally far inferior. But against a vampire progenitor like Evangeline, he was roughly on par.
He still had hundreds of thousands of points of Light Power within him.
If this otherworld wasn't teeming with gods, it shouldn't pose much danger.
Morpheus landed in a desolate mountain range, with no one around. Unable to immediately discern what kind of world this was, he cast a flight spell and soared into the sky, picking a direction and speeding off.
However, he soon noticed a problem.
This world was highly resistant to magical systems like his. His flight spell was sluggish—where he could once travel at dozens of Mach speeds, he was now suppressed to subsonic levels, unable to break the sound barrier.
The spell's energy consumption was also several times higher than in the main world.
Frowning, Morpheus realized this world was unfriendly to magic. While he could cast spells, the cost was steep.
This could be troublesome in a fight, but it didn't faze him. He wasn't afraid of combat.
Soon, he spotted a town and descended, entering on foot. The town appeared somewhat primitive, with most buildings made of wood. The streets were filled with people in coarse cloth, their rough skin suggesting a life of labor.
It didn't feel like a medieval fantasy world but rather an archaic, less advanced one.
Wasn't this supposed to be an otherworld?
Curious, Morpheus approached a well-dressed man and struck up a conversation. The man was initially reluctant, but a quick hypnosis spell made him talk freely.
He revealed that this was Tanzaku Street in the Land of Fire, and he was the owner of a local casino.
The Land of Fire? Tanzaku Street?
Morpheus instantly realized what world he'd entered.
The Ninja World—a world full of lunatics and neurotics.
Good grief, this counted as an otherworld?
Well, on second thought, the Naruto world was entirely fictional, with no historical or geographical ties to Earth. Calling it an otherworld wasn't exactly wrong.
No wonder it rejected magic—it operated on ninjutsu.
An idea sparked in Morpheus's mind. If this world rejected magic, would it reject Onmyōdō?
While not as proficient in Onmyōdō as magic, Morpheus knew a bit. He formed a hand seal, and a bolt of lightning materialized in his hand, which he flicked outward.
The Onmyōdō technique worked smoothly, with minimal resistance and low energy cost. Unlike magic, this world seemed to tolerate Onmyōdō.
Interesting.
Morpheus waved off the casino owner and settled into a diner.
Now that he knew this was the Naruto world, he decided to bolster his strength, subdue the ninja world, and then summon his original self to consume this world.
Why subdue the ninja world first? Because his original self couldn't enter yet. If he summoned his true body and a horde of ninjas interfered, it could ruin everything.
So, crushing the ninja world was a necessary step.
However, with his current power, flattening the entire ninja world was just a tad out of reach.
He needed to grow stronger.
After a moment's thought, Morpheus devised a solid plan.
After resting in Tanzaku Street for a day, he set out for the Konoha the next morning.
It took only half a day to reach Konoha from Tanzaku Street.
Along the way, Morpheus gathered intel. It was the 60th year of Konoha's founding. The Nine-Tails incident had occurred, Minato Namikaze was dead, and the Uchiha clan had been wiped out, leaving only one survivor: Sasuke Uchiha.
Naruto Uzumaki had grown up and was now attending the Ninja Academy, living a life of near-universal disdain. His childhood was so grim it could inspire a film titled The Despised Life of Naruto Uzumaki.
The only reason he hadn't turned dark, Morpheus strongly suspected, was due to Asura's chakra at work.
Upon arriving in Konoha, Morpheus encountered the village's gatekeepers: Kotetsu Hagane and Izumo Kamizuki.
Both were elite chūnin, reliable enough to guard the gates without fail.
Seeing Morpheus approach, Kotetsu raised a hand to stop him. "Visitor, please come register."
Konoha didn't bar outsiders, especially as the village had grown prosperous, attracting merchants, travelers, and tourists. But all visitors had to be questioned and registered.
Morpheus was no exception.
Kotetsu asked, "Your name and purpose in Konoha?"
Morpheus didn't hesitate. "I'm Morpheus, and I'm here to take over the Konoha."
"What?!"
Kotetsu's pen froze mid-writing. He stared at Morpheus in disbelief. "What did you just say?"
"I said I'm here to take over Konoha," Morpheus repeated with a warm smile, clarifying his intent.
He wasn't joking. His plan was to seize Konoha, use its resources to strengthen himself, conquer the ninja world, and then summon his original self to consume this world, resolving the main world's crisis. It was a simple, brutal plan with a high chance of success.
