Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Is It My ...

Ronan scratched the back of his head in confusion when he heard a series of notifications from the System. He wasn't sure whether the gifts given to him were good for him or not.

"What can I do with the things you've given me?" Ronan stared at the transparent screen that appeared in front of him.

[The Host can resurrect corpses to become undead like a Necromancer. The Undead that the Host resurrects can help the Host fight to survive in this new world.

"Huh?! So this isn't Earth?" Ronan was shocked. He thought he had just woken up in some unknown place, not that he had been thrown into another world like this.

For a moment, the System remained silent. For some reason, Ronan felt that this entity called the System was quite annoyed by his words.

Ronan cleared his throat softly, trying to break the awkward silence. If the world he was currently in was indeed another world, then Ronan needed to gather his strength.

"What must I do to resurrect these corpses?" Since the System did not speak, Ronan voluntarily asked for it.

[The Host only needs to hold the head of the corpse they want to resurrect, then say "Hereby I summon you from the dead," and they will rise. The Host's passive skill, Call The Dead, will work at this stage.

[However, the Host must be of a high level to resurrect corpses that have stronger powers or grudges. The Host has three chances to resurrect them. If all attempts fail, the corpse cannot be revived again.

"Then how do I level up?" Hearing the System's explanation, Ronan thought that this was like playing a game.

Ronan was not very familiar with this because he had been busy working to make a living since he was a child, so he was completely unfamiliar with terms like this.

[The Host will gain Experience points when excavating graves. Each time the Host levels up, the number of Undead that the Host can resurrect will increase.

Feeling that it was clear enough, Ronan nodded his head in understanding. Curious about his newfound power, Ronan walked towards one of the corpses he had removed from the tomb he had excavated.

Without wasting any more time, Ronan followed the instructions the System had taught him earlier. Ronan placed his hand on the head of the decomposing corpse and recited the spell.

"Hereby I summon you from the dead," Ronan muttered, staring straight at the corpse in front of him.

Ronan blinked several times when he saw no reaction from the corpse, intending to mutter the spell again. But before Ronan could do so, he heard the sound of cracking bones, and the stiff body of the corpse in front of him began to move.

Ronan quickly pulled his hand away from the corpse's head and moved slightly away from it, still a little afraid of what might happen.

Magically, the stiff bones of the corpse slowly began to move with various creepy growling sounds. Until finally, the corpse that had previously been lying stiff on the ground was now standing in front of Ronan.

[Congratulations! The Host has successfully resurrected an Undead!]

[The Regular Undead has evolved into an Undead Soldier!]

The Undead's body, which was almost completely decayed, began to improve. The Undead looked like a human with a complete body, except that its skin was pale like a dead person's.

The corpse of the man seemed to emit a strong aura due to the effect of Ronan's cheat. The corpse of the man just stared blankly at Ronan without saying anything to him.

"Can I give orders to the Undead that I have resurrected, System?" Ronan quietly asked the System.

[Of course, the Undead that the Host has resurrected will be loyal to the Host and will do whatever the Host commands]

"Amazing! Doesn't this mean I can create my own Undead army?" Ronan felt excited by this new fact he had learned.

[That is the essence of what the System wants from the Host]

Ronan just nodded slowly, then decided to walk closer to the Undead he had just resurrected. Ronan tried to give it a small command.

"I need your help to remove all the corpses from the graves I've dug up." Ronan tried to lift his chin high enough to show that he was not afraid of the Undead's rather terrifying appearance.

"With pleasure, sir." The Undead nodded obediently, then with stiff steps began to comb through the graves that Ronan had previously dug up.

Ronan was finally able to exhale the breath he had been holding when the Undead began to move away from him to carry out his task.

Now, Ronan didn't have to struggle to remove the corpses that still lay in their graves.

It didn't take long for the Undead to remove the nine corpses from their graves. He lined up the bodies to make it easier for Ronan to see them.

"Good work." Ronan nodded his head in satisfaction when he saw the work of his first Undead.

Ronan was quite precise, so he was very satisfied to see his Undead working so neatly and efficiently.

Of the nine corpses, one caught Ronan's attention. There was a corpse dressed in all white, its face covered by a transparent white veil. From its appearance, Ronan could tell that the corpse was a woman.

"Should I resurrect her first?" Ronan rubbed his chin as he thought, feeling a little hesitant.

[With the Host's current level, the Host can only resurrect 9 Undead. To increase the number of Undead that can be resurrected, the Host must level up.

"All right then, there's no harm in reviving her," Ronan replied, feeling calmer now that he knew how many Undead he could revive.

No longer hesitant, Ronan walked over to the corpse of the woman in white, crouched down beside it, then reached out to hold the woman's head and muttered his spell.

Ronan waited for a moment, but when he got no reaction from the corpse, he began to frown in confusion. The woman's corpse did not move at all, showing absolutely no reaction.

"Strange, should I do it again?" Receiving no reaction, Ronan recited the spell again, this time louder.

The woman's body only creaked briefly, then fell silent again without any meaningful reaction.

"What? Failed again?" This time, Ronan was really surprised; he didn't expect to face failure this quickly. "I only have one more chance," Ronan muttered, feeling a little nervous after realizing that he only had one last chance.

Ronan closed his eyes to calm himself for a moment, then opened them with determination.

"Hereby I summon you from the dead." Ronan recited his spell with confidence, hoping that the woman's corpse would accept his wish to resurrect her.

The sound of cracking bones began to be heard; unlike the first Undead, this woman's corpse began to moan. Then her moans turned into roars of anger, and Ronan quickly moved away from the woman's corpse.

The aura around the woman's corpse immediately became tense, the temperature dropped dramatically, and Ronan got goosebumps.

However, Ronan was stunned by the changes that had occurred to the woman's corpse. The corpse, which was still quite fresh, had turned into a very charming, but also dangerous, woman.

The all-white clothes she was wearing had turned blood red, and the beautiful face of the woman's corpse was now clearly visible. Her long black hair fluttered in the wind, and with her red eyes she stared straight at Ronan.

"Your Majesty, are you the one who saved me?" The woman looked at Ronan with a longing gaze.

[The entity 'The Vengeful Spirit' has been awakened!]
