Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: I Dug My Grave

Before Ronan lost his life, the last thing he saw was the cheerful face of his best friend, who was now shoveling dirt to bury him alive.

One thing Ronan regretted was accepting his best friend's offer to demolish a tomb just because his job as a gravedigger didn't pay very well.

"In the end, I ended up in a grave that wasn't mine." A slight regret slipped into Ronan's mind as his consciousness finally faded away.

[Matching with the host body ...]

[Synchronize to the Host...]

[Synchronization done.]

The sound of crickets rang out loudly in the quiet night, and the wind blew fiercely and blindly, ready to freeze anyone it passed by.

Ronan was disturbed by the strong wind. He could feel his body starting to shiver, and suddenly he realized something.

Ronan's body jumped in surprise, and he sat down with his eyes wide open, unable to believe what was happening to him at that moment.

"I... am still alive?" Ronan muttered questioningly. He looked at his body and began to touch it to convince himself that he was still alive.

"But how is that possible?" Unable to believe this miracle, Ronan slapped his cheek hard enough to make a loud smacking sound.

Ronan groaned in pain as he felt a sharp sting on his cheek, confirming that this was not just a dream.

Still reeling from the shock of his situation, Ronan began to look around him.

Ronan then realized that he was in a deep hole. Ronan was very familiar with this scene because he often dealt with things like this.

"No way! I'm in a grave?" Ronan immediately got up from his position, extremely shocked when he realized that he was in a grave.

To be honest, Ronan was a little traumatized by graves because he had previously been thrown into a grave and buried alive by his best friend.

As Ronan tried to climb out of the grave in a panic, he suddenly heard a static voice buzzing in his head.

[Welcome to the 'The Manual of Necromancy' System service. The System has obtained the data belonging to the Host and feels that the Host's soul is suitable to run the System's services]

"Who are you?!" Ronan looked around to find the person who was talking to him, but he didn't see anyone there.

[Unfortunately, an error occurred in the System when synchronizing with the Host. To continue using the System's services, the Host must complete the Quest given by the System. Regrettably, the System will terminate its services if the Host is unable to complete the Quest.

"Huh?" Although still confused about who was talking to him, anxiety began to gnaw at Ronan's heart. "You mean I could die again if I don't complete your quest?"

[Finally, the Host understood what the System was saying]

Ronan didn't have time to respond to the System's words because he heard a notification-like sound emitted by the System along with an explanation of the Quest he had to do.

[Revival Quest: The Host must dig 10 graves within 2 hours.

If the Host fails to complete the Quest, the Host will die]

"What is this? I don't even know where I am right now, and now I'm being told to exhume graves again." Ronan was stunned. He was still traumatized by the words "exhume graves," but now he was being told to do it again.

When Ronan thought about protesting to the entity that called itself "System," he was startled by a sound like a broken radio.

The sound made Ronan's ears ring uncomfortably, and a moment later, he heard the System's voice, which sounded choppy.

[... The system is currently ... experiencing a malfunction ... in the next 2 hours ... The system will be unavailable ...]

Bib.

That was the only message Ronan could hear, and he didn't know whether to be happy or sad about this announcement. The reason was that Ronan was now completely alone, and he still had to complete his Quest without the System's help.

"First of all, I have to get out of this hole," Ronan muttered, trying to calm himself down, and slowly crawled through the muddy ground to get out of the grave.

To be honest, Ronan felt very dirty because his body was completely covered in mud and dirt, but he didn't have time to worry about that.

He was in an emergency situation at the moment, so Ronan began to look around to familiarize himself with his current surroundings. Now that he was on the surface, Ronan realized that he was in a vacant lot in a forest.

Ronan guessed that this place was located on high ground, such as a mountain or hills, and although the forest was not very dense, he could see that the land was covered with bushes and shrubs.

"Could there be another grave in a place like this?" As a grave digger, it was possible that there were other graves in these mountains, but Ronan wasn't sure.

Ronan circled the hole he had been in. Luckily, he found a shovel next to a pile of muddy soil. Ronan was sure that the shovel had been used by the person who wanted to bury him to bury the body he was currently occupying.

Not wanting to lose hope after being given a second chance at life, Ronan picked up the shovel and began searching the area for other graves.

"I don't think this is a good place to bury someone. Doesn't the person who wants to bury me actually want to curse my soul? How could they bury someone in muddy ground that was almost like a swamp like this?" Ronan shook his head as he looked around.

As a grave digger who determined where people should be buried, Ronan felt that the person who intended to bury his body was very evil for burying him in such a terrible place.

At that moment, Ronan felt his foot stumble over something, when he looked down, he saw a stake that looked like a tombstone.

Feeling enlightened, Ronan hurriedly cleared the bushes there to get a better look.

"I'm not mistaken, this is indeed a grave." Ronan was stunned in disbelief when he found another grave in this cursed place.

Feeling that something was strange about this place, Ronan hurried to investigate further, and 100 meters from that grave, he found another. Within 15 minutes, Ronan found approximately 20 graves in that remote place.

"Did the people in this place deliberately bury someone in a dark and cursed place like this?" Ronan's face paled when he found many graves there.

Although he still felt uneasy about these graves and had a thousand terrible scenarios in his mind as to why they were there, Ronan decided to dig up ten graves as instructed by the System.
