I stared at Alpha Theodore in complete bewilderment. How could he dismiss Alpha Herbert so rudely? The conversation had been going well until Theodore's tone turned sharp and cold. He wasn't shouting, but there was something dangerous lurking beneath his controlled voice that made my stomach clench with anxiety.
Herbert seemed unfazed at first, maintaining his warm smile and steady demeanor even as Theodore's responses became increasingly harsh. But I could sense the tension radiating from Theodore like heat from a fire. Was he trying to protect me from something? Or was this something darker, something more primal?
The uncertainty gnawed at me. I couldn't tell if I had somehow offended him or if this was simply how he behaved around rival Alphas.
