Chapter 18 - Chapter 18 A Convincing Performance

Seraphine's POV

I woke up drenched in sweat, my body burning like I had been sleeping beside a blazing fireplace. The sheets clung to my skin as I pushed them away, desperate for cool air. But even without the blankets, warmth seemed to wrap around me like invisible arms refusing to let go.

My pulse quickened as fragments of my dream surfaced. A deep, rumbling voice had whispered things I couldn't quite remember, and powerful arms had held me against a broad chest covered in soft fur. The memory felt too vivid, too real to be just a dream.

Had someone actually been in my room?

I scanned every corner of the space. The wooden chair sat undisturbed by the window, my wardrobe remained half-open just as I had left it, and the bedside lamp still glowed because I had forgotten to switch it off before sleep claimed me. Everything appeared normal, yet something deep in my gut insisted I hadn't spent the night alone.
