After Zachery's departure, our new cook Joanna had seamlessly integrated into her role. However, Aleena struggled to warm up to her replacement. Something about Antonia's composed demeanor rubbed Aleena the wrong way. During one of our afternoon conversations, Aleena confided her concerns about how Joanna carried herself around the pack house.

"She acts like she's better than everyone else," Aleena muttered, her frustration evident. "Antonia barely acknowledges anyone when they speak to her."

I set down my tea cup and considered her words. "Her cooking skills are exceptional though. If she prefers to keep to herself while performing her duties well, I don't see the problem."

Aleena's eyes flashed with irritation. "You're missing the point, Luna. This isn't about being shy or reserved. She treats us like we're beneath her notice. Every time she walks through the kitchen, her chin tilts up like she's smelling something unpleasant."
