Seraphine's POV
I returned home after the exhausting shopping trip, my mind spinning with conflicting emotions. Every muscle in my body ached for rest, and all I wanted was to retreat to my room and collapse into bed. But Theodore had other plans.
"You need to eat dinner," he insisted when I tried to escape upstairs.
I shook my head, too drained to argue. "I'm not hungry."
His dark eyes studied my face with an intensity that made my stomach flutter. "Fine. You can have dinner in your room then."
Relief washed over me. I rubbed the tension from my neck and managed a grateful smile. "That would be perfect."
Without another word, I fled to my bedroom and threw myself onto the mattress. The events of the day crashed over me in waves. Becky's hostility, Alexa's warnings, Ana's cryptic comments. I dragged myself upright and began unzipping my dress when a sharp knock interrupted my thoughts.
"Come in," I called lazily, moving to my dresser mirror to remove my earrings.
