Before I could announce Seraphine as my mate, I needed to brace for the storm that would follow. The moment word spread that she belonged to the most powerful Alpha in the North, every enemy would crawl out of their holes. They would dissect her every move, turn others against her, and worse yet, use her to strike at me.
The mere thought of anyone laying a finger on her sent ice through my veins. Seraphine brought light into my world, pushing back the shadows that had consumed me for years. I refused to let anyone dim that brightness.
I could hide our bond, pretend she meant nothing to me. But how long could I maintain that facade when I knew every curve of her body, the way her gray eyes widened when something caught her interest, how her nose wrinkled in disgust? Every detail was burned into my memory.
