Chapter 63 - Chapter 63

A few days had passed, and soon Friday arrived—

Sobu High School,

When Gojo returned to the office, he immediately noticed Shizune Hiratsuka scolding Hikigaya Hachiman as usual.

"Yo, isn't this Dead Fish-eye-san? Why were you dragged here by Shizuka-sensei again?"

Sitting in his chair with his playful smirk, Gojo observed the scene in amusement.

"Hey!."

Hachiman's sharp gaze immediately snapped to the white-haired teacher.

"Just… because I have dead fish-eye, you decided to call me that out loud? I have a proper and good name, you know—Hikigaya Hachiman!"

He complained in his usual deadpan tone, eyes narrowing slightly.

"Alright, alright, Gojo stop messing with him," Hiratsuka waved dismissively before returning her attention to the troublesome student before her.

"So… have you thought about joining a club yet?" she asked, a teasing note in her voice.

"Please don't, Hiratsuka-sensei!" Hachiman responded immediately, crossing his arms in resistance.

"I already have a club," he added firmly.

"A club? What club?" Hiratsuka's expression twisted in confusion.

"Go Home club," Hachiman said with an indifferent shrug.

Gojo stifled a laugh.

Going Home club?, he thought to himself, shaking his head at Hachiman's statement.

"…So… you still won't join any club?" Hiratsuka asked, a little exasperated.

"Nope," Hachiman replied flatly, standing his ground.

Watching the two bicker, Gojo chuckled softly, then a mischievous glint appeared in his eyes.

He leaned under his desk and pulled out a slightly worn, yet surprisingly well-kept student handbook.

"Dead Fish— uh, Hikigaya-san," he interrupted, drawing attention from both students.

"You really just want to keep calling me Dead Fish-eye-san, huh?" Hachiman spat, irritation rising.

Gojo ignored him, flipping open the handbook to the first page.

"Sobu High Handbook, it's clearly written here that every student must join a club—especially sophomores. If you refuse, your parents will be called directly to have a chat with your respected teacher."

He handed the Handbook to Hachiman for proof.

Hachiman's eyes narrowed as he scanned the page carefully. Indeed, it was written there in capital letters. His eyebrows furrowed.

Tsk… this is troublesome.

Scratching the back of his head, Hachiman muttered,

"So… I have to join a club… if I really don't want my parents being called here."

Gojo leaned back in his chair, crossing his legs like the most relaxed person on earth, but the pressure that is coming from his body tell a different story.

Hachiman shivered, the sweat forming on his brow as he imagined the disappointed look of his younger sister, Komachi, in his mind. Without hesitation, he bowed slightly and pleaded, "Please… let me join a club…"

"Okay," Gojo said with a smile, a glint of satisfaction in his eyes.

But he winked subtly at Hiratsuka, signaling her not to reveal anything to the student.

Hachiman left to return after school, reluctant but compliant.

Meanwhile, Hiratsuka perched herself casually on Gojo's desk, watching the teacher's mischievous grin.

"… the student handbook didn't used to have this rule about mandatory club participation, right?"

Gojo shrugged lightly.

"Times change… just check the latest edition."

He handed her the handbook.

Hiratsuka flipped through it, eyes widening at the "Years" clearly printed on the cover.

She giggles softly.

"If Hachiman sees this… he'd probably scream. Using a ten-year-old handbook to trick a 22-year-old student? That's is just like you, Gojo."

"Hey! I'm being helpful here!" Gojo exclaimed, pretending to pout.

Hiratsuka rolled her eyes as two playful 'paws'—Gojo's hands—suddenly wandered across her back, tickling her.

"Hahaha—Stop it, or I will lose it," she warned, though a smile crept onto her face.

Seeing this Gojo's grin only widened.

...

By the end of the school day,

Hachiman stood hesitantly outside the clubroom door. His hand hovered over the handle, nerves tightening in his chest.

As he finally pushed it open, he braced himself to enter the club for the first time.

It's so tangled! he thought, dread flooding him.

"Don't… let Komachi know her brother hasn't even joined a club yet… and is still socially awkward, right?" a faint voice whispered in his ear.

"Ah… yes! I won't!" Hachiman replied automatically.

Wait—how does anyone know about Komachi? he thought sharply, turning his head.

To find—

The teacher—Gojo Saturo—was standing there, calm as ever.

"So… Sensei, how do you know about Komachi?"

Hachiman asked cautiously. He didn't remember mentioning his sister at school.

"Oops! My bad… don't worry about the small stuff,"

Gojo said, lifting Hachiman by the collar and pushing him toward the door.

"Shizuka-sensei! Look who I caught! A dead fish-eyed student!" Gojo shouted, his voice echoing across the hall.

"It's fine to call me Dead Fish-eye, but… can you please let me down?" Hachiman grumbled, flustered as he dangled in Gojo's grasp.

After a short scuffle, Gojo finally set him down.

Sipping his coffee, as he watched Hiratsuka who had been helping guide Hachiman toward the club selection.

Hachiman muttered repeatedly,

"This club is great… but I think I'll just go home anyway."

Hiratsuka had lost her patience for her socially awkward student, her face darkening.

She slammed her fist on the table with a crisp bang!

Bang!

"Do you want to be hospitalized!"

"I-I'm sorry, Hiratsuka-sensei! I… I'll choose, I'll choose!" Hachiman cried, holding his head up in a sorry position.

Yet, despite reviewing every option, he still couldn't find a club that suited him.

After, venting her anger at the poor table, Hiratsuka calmly sipping her coffee, observed her student distress and contemplated where to send him next.

Where to… send him? she wondered, a smile tugging at her lips.

"Hey, Hikigaya," she called gently.

"Huh?" Hachiman lifted his head in confusion.

"Come with me."

"Can't I… not go?" he asked in a low voice, resisting internally.

Hachiman felt a sinking feeling. He was certain this wasn't a good idea.

"Come on, Hikigaya. You'll be fine," Hiratsuka said, steady and encouraging.

"I… I'll go… but please make sure I don't get another punch,"

Hachiman said seriously, clasping his hands together.

Hiratsuka's smile softened. "Don't worry. Just follow me."
