Daniel stepped into the guild Borschtelès and froze for a moment, eyes wide. The hall was vast and welcoming, lit by torches and a large central fireplace that crackled warmly. Wooden tables, worn but sturdy, held adventurers deep in conversation, some displaying maps or mission scrolls. The scent of fresh bread and roasted meat filled the air.
Yet, despite the lively atmosphere, Daniel felt the weight of countless eyes upon him. What am I doing here… he thought, a shiver of doubt running down his spine. I'm a true otaku… I've seen this in every anime… but it's different in real life. He walked slowly, trying not to draw attention, but each step echoed in his mind, reflecting his own fears and excitement.
Guided by instinct and memories of anime, Daniel approached the receptionist. She stood behind a polished wooden counter, wearing a simple but elegant apron. Her eyes scanned the newcomers, and she raised a finger as Daniel drew near.
"Welcome to Borschtelès. To register, place your hand on the central pedestal. The stone will reveal your rank."
At the center of the guild stood a white stone, smooth and luminous, its surface pulsing subtly. Daniel stepped forward and placed his hand on it. The stone immediately shimmered. A dark red hue appeared briefly, then faded, leaving a pale glow. A murmur ran through the hall.
The receptionist spoke calmly, "You are of the lowest rank, an absolute novice."
Laughter erupted in the room. Some adventurers mocked openly: "Look at the newbie… barely able to shine!" "Ha! It'll be fun to see him on a mission!" Comments flew, and Daniel felt heat rise to his cheeks.
Yet, deep inside, he remained calm. He took a deep breath and thought, This is my role. I'm not here to compare myself to others, but to grow. I will accept this position with honor.
As some continued to laugh or whisper, Daniel gave a slight smile and withdrew his hand from the stone. His gaze rose toward the central fire, toward the faces around him. He knew this moment was humiliating, but necessary. Every adventurer had started somewhere. Every legend had taken its first steps. And he, Daniel, had just crossed the threshold of his own adventure.
The murmur in the guild gradually subsided, and Daniel felt a strange energy flowing through him. The stone had spoken, his rank was low, but the path to greatness had only just begun.
