After carefully placing his adventurer card in his pocket, Daniel stood up and returned to the receptionist. He wanted to know if there were any quests available for someone of his rank.
"Welcome back, young man," she said with a smile. "Being of rank E, the lowest, you can only take a limited number of quests. To increase your rank, you can complete quests provided by the guild or those offered by the Royal Academy. Even small missions can help you progress quickly if you succeed."
Daniel nodded, but his gaze fell on the quest board, where colorful notices displayed the available missions. Each notice had a strange symbol and a number: ✧, ⍟, ❖, or ⌘. What does this mean…? he wondered, slightly puzzled.
Seeing his hesitation, the receptionist stepped closer and explained, "Ah, I see you don't understand our symbols yet. Small quests reward Lysar (✧), slightly more difficult missions give Auréus (⍟), rare or special quests can grant Crystalis (❖), and those involving magic or extraordinary challenges offer Éthérion (⌘). Everything is relative to the difficulty and your rank."
Daniel nodded silently, attentive. So even for a novice, these small rank E quests will help me progress… he thought. He scanned the options: monster hunts, escorting travelers, guarding a noble for an hour, collecting herbs or rare ingredients…
Finally, his eyes settled on a simple quest: gather medicinal herbs in the forest outside the city. It wasn't dangerous, but it would allow him to test his powers and become familiar with this new world. The reward was clearly marked: 15 ✧. Thanks to the receptionist's explanation, Daniel understood its value, and a small, discreet smile appeared on his lips.
"I'll take this one," he said calmly.
The receptionist nodded approvingly. "Very well. Prepare yourself and leave when you are ready. Good luck, young man."
Daniel bowed politely and stepped out of the guild for his first mission. The fresh wind outside brushed against his face. He took a deep breath, feeling the world open before him, full of promises, adventures, and extraordinary encounters.
