Chapter 39 - "The Final Battle Begins!"

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________

"What the heck is this? Nebby? Escanor? How does that even make sense?!"

"Wait, he gave up immortality for these two? Seriously?"

"At this point, Kagaya Ubuyashiki must be regretting his life choices!"

"One's a puff of gas, and the other's a scrawny old man with a mustache—could they look any more like background characters?"

All across the worlds, countless viewers stared in disbelief at the so-called "reinforcements" summoned to aid the Demon Slayer Corps.

"What?! Aw man, what a waste! Why couldn't I be picked as the outside help to slay demons!?"

In the Fairy Tail world, Natsu slammed his fists on the table, face full of frustration.

He wasn't the only one sulking—Naruto, Luffy, and other hot-blooded shonen heroes were all grumbling the same thing.

"Damn it! Why not me? If I could just go there, I'd have that Muzan guy captured already!"

Even Orochimaru muttered in disappointment, to everyone's surprise.

And across the multiverse, many other strong fighters shared the same thought.

...

Meanwhile, in the Pokémon world—

Alola Region.

"Eh? Eh?!"

"It's Nebby!"

"Why did Nebby go there?!"

"The Demon Slayer world is so dangerous! What if something happens to it?!"

Lillie and her friends, who had only recently adopted the little Cosmog, were freaking out.

"It'll be fine!" Ash said with his usual grin.

"Pika pika!" Pikachu nodded confidently beside him.

"Hold up—that's a Pokémon, right?"

"Looks like it's from Alola!"

"I just saw that name added to the Pokédex by the Aether Foundation!"

"Cosmog—one of the legendary Pokémon!"

The revelation left experts like Professor Oak and Cynthia speechless.

....

In the Seven Deadly Sins world—

"What did you just say?!"

"Sir Meliodas!"

"You're telling us that skinny old man with the mustache is Escanor, the Sin of Pride we're supposed to find?!"

Arthur, Howzer, Gilthunder, and even Hawk the pig all froze in shock.

None of them could believe that the man Meliodas described as stronger than himself looked like he could barely lift a spoon.

"Fufu… there's no mistake. That's Escanor," Meliodas said with a chuckle.

"But… he doesn't look strong at all!" Howzer blurted out.

"That's the thing," Meliodas explained. "At night, he's timid and frail. But when the sun rises—you'll see."

"Ooooh!"

"That sounds awesome!"

"The legendary Sin of Pride!"

Gilthunder and the others' eyes lit up with anticipation.

"But… don't demons only come out at night?" Princess Elizabeth asked anxiously.

The Boar Hat tavern went dead silent.

"…Yeah," Meliodas said after a pause, nodding seriously.

"That's… actually a huge problem."

...

In the Demon Slayer world—

Infinity Castle.

Muzan Kibutsuji laughed coldly as he watched the broadcast showing Ubuyashiki's "trades." Giving up immortality for two useless weaklings? Pathetic.

He had been worried at first—what if that mysterious "countdown" summoned someone like Yoriichi Tsugikuni? If he came back, Muzan would've bolted underground for a century without hesitation.

But now? He relaxed completely.

Those two? A puffball and a beanpole? What a joke.

"Lord Muzan!" Upper Moon Two, Doma, suddenly shouted in excitement.

"We found it! After a full day and night of human investigation, we've finally located the Ubuyashiki family's headquarters!"

It had taken time, but even the best-hidden lair couldn't evade a nationwide search.

"Excellent." Muzan's lips curled into a grin. "Reward those humans later. For now—let's give the Demon Slayer Corps a little surprise."

He turned toward his followers. "You're all ready, I assume?"

"Yes, Lord Muzan!"

"We won't fail this time!"

"Good." Muzan raised his hand.

Infinity Castle—activate!

...

At the Demon Slayer Corps Headquarters—

The slayers tried not to look too disappointed, but it was impossible to hide completely. After all, the alternative reward had been immortality. Hard to compete with that.

Still, they weren't the type to rely on outsiders. No matter what, they'd fight with their own strength.

And by now, they were stronger than ever—no demon would make them falter.

That night, the headquarters was filled with laughter and the clinking of cups.

"Wow! Nebby's amazing—it's already eaten eighty sakura mochi!"

Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji clapped in delight, eyes sparkling.

From the moment she saw the tiny, starry puffball, she'd been absolutely smitten.

And she wasn't alone. Shinobu, Kanao, Nezuko—every girl in the room adored the cute little creature. Once they realized the gaseous Pokémon could eat, they went all in, piling up desserts and sweets for it.

Meanwhile, Escanor sat with Ubuyashiki, humbly bowing his head.

"I'm terribly sorry, Lord Ubuyashiki. I'm afraid… I won't be much help tonight."

His voice was soft, almost apologetic.

"Think nothing of it, Mr. Escanor," Ubuyashiki said kindly. "Just meeting you is a blessing."

"What a genuine man," Escanor murmured. "And everyone here—such kind young souls. I only wish I could… ah."

He sighed deeply. There wasn't much a man of the night could do against nocturnal demons.

Then—

"Waaah! What's happening?!" Mitsuri cried.

Nebby suddenly began to glow in her arms, light bursting out like a miniature sun. When it faded, the gaseous creature had transformed—solidified into a cocoon-like form.

"Eh?! Nebby changed! And it's so heavy! It must weigh a ton now!" she gasped, struggling to lift it.

The sudden evolution drew attention from across the multiverse, though most quickly lost interest when the cocoon just sat there motionless.

Only the Pokémon professors remained glued to their notes, documenting every second of the evolution.

Then—fifteen minutes later—

Ubuyashiki's face went pale.

"He's coming."

His voice trembled. "Muzan is coming!"

A deafening boom shook the headquarters.

The ground split, the sky twisted—an enormous city erupted upward from nowhere.

And above it all, leading an army of demons—

stood the Demon King himself, Muzan Kibutsuji.

The final battle had begun.

"..."
