Chapter 62 - CHAPTER 62

c62: The Helpless Old Supreme Kai

At the same time, on Earth

Lin Hao, Son Goku, and Vegeta's training had reached its conclusion for the day. After several hours of sparring at full power, the mountains around them were already half-destroyed from the intensity of their blows. But because today was Bulma's birthday, Lin Hao who had been invited personally decided to call it early.

"Hey! Lin Hao, there's no need to stop now! We can go a few more rounds!" Goku said eagerly, wiping sweat from his forehead as blue lightning flickered faintly around his body, showing he was on the verge of reaching Super Saiyan Blue again.

Lin Hao crossed his arms, expression calm. "No. Training requires balance, Goku. If you overdo it, your body won't have time to adapt. Even Saiyan stamina has limits."

He glanced at both Goku and Vegeta. "Besides, it's Bulma's birthday today. Are you sure you want to be late? You know how she gets when she's angr Vegeta, that's your problem more than mine."

Vegeta froze, beads of sweat forming on his temple. "Tch… you're right. The last time I was late, she banned me from the gravity chamber for a week."

"See?" Lin Hao smirked.

Goku laughed awkwardly. "Heh, yeah, I don't wanna deal with that either. Fine, let's wrap up."

"Good. Let's head to Capsule Corporation to get ready."

In a flash of light, Lin Hao placed a hand on Goku's shoulder and used Instant Transmission, locking onto Bulma's ki. Within seconds, the three of them vanished from the mountains and reappeared at Capsule Corp, where the bustling preparations for Bulma's birthday were in full swing. Colorful banners filled the courtyard, and a massive cruise ship hovered offshore—Bulma's latest extravagant venue.

"Let's go," Lin Hao said, straightening his outfit. "We'll change and board the ship. Don't cause trouble before the party even starts."

Goku laughed again, scratching his head, while Vegeta muttered under his breath, "I don't need advice from you."

And with that, the three headed toward the ship where the celebration and destiny awaited them.

Meanwhile, in the Sacred World of the Kais

A beam of divine light descended from the heavens, forming a glowing sphere before the Supreme Kai and his elder counterpart, the Old Supreme Kai. The orb shimmered before projecting a holographic image Whis's serene face appeared within it.

"Supreme Kai," Whis's voice echoed gently, "I'm contacting you to inform you that Lord Beerus has awakened from his slumber. We'll be arriving in your realm shortly. He seeks information on a being known as the Super Saiyan God. If you have any records of such a warrior, please let us know."

The Supreme Kai, Shin, gasped in alarm. "Lord Beerus… has woken up!?"

The Old Supreme Kai's face instantly went pale. "What!? That lazy cat is awake again!? Last time he destroyed half a planet just because he didn't like the seasoning on his pudding!"

He turned toward Shin, clutching his staff. "Super Saiyan God, he said? What nonsense! I know about Super Saiyans, but 'God'? That's new even to me."

He paused, narrowing his eyes as he considered the implications. "Wait… could this have something to do with that intense energy spike we sensed from Earth not long ago? The one caused by Lin Hao's transformation? If Beerus felt that, it might have stirred his curiosity."

Shin swallowed nervously. "If Beerus goes to Earth and gets provoked…"

"Yes, I know!" the Old Kai snapped. "He'll blow up the planet, and the balance of the universe will collapse. We'd all be in trouble!"

Turning back toward the projection, the Old Kai forced a polite smile. "Ahem, Whis, I've never heard of a Super Saiyan God per se, but there are Saiyans with extraordinary power. One in particular the one named Goku has surpassed even the limits of mortals."

Whis nodded with his usual gentle smile. "Understood. That may be relevant. When we arrive, perhaps you can share more details in person."

The Old Kai sighed, shoulders slumping. "Fine, fine. We'll wait for you here. But I'm telling you, if Beerus gets cranky, don't blame me if the universe loses another planet."

"Of course," Whis replied cheerfully. "Please have tea ready when we arrive."

As the projection faded, the Old Kai slumped into his chair, groaning. "Hmph. Helpless, that's what I am! Every time Beerus wakes up, it's the same story—l panic, destruction, and more paperwork for the gods!"

Shin looked down at him, worry in his eyes. "Do you think he'll really go to Earth?"

"Oh, he'll go," the Old Kai muttered. "Beerus never ignores a prophecy. If he thinks this 'Super Saiyan God' exists, then Earth is about to get a very unwanted visitor…"

Whis recalled that three years ago, when a massive surge of energy briefly shook the God of Destruction's realm, he had glimpsed Lin Hao through his staff. That same overwhelming aura had rippled across dimensions, momentarily awakening even Lord Beerus from his slumber.

"Yes, I remember that surge clearly," Whis thought, his usual serene smile unfaltering. "It was the same signature energy I felt back then Lin Hao's."

"Very well then," the Old Supreme Kai replied respectfully, straightening his robes. "I'll prepare for your arrival at once."

"Excellent," Whis said calmly. "That won't be necessary for long, though. I'll be tending to Lord Beerus now. We'll be there soon and please, there's no need to warn that individual. We'll find him ourselves once we arrive on Earth."

As his words ended, the holographic image dissolved into a sphere of divine light that faded from the skies of the Supreme Kai Realm, leaving a faint golden glow in its wake.

"Phew…" The Old Supreme Kai exhaled deeply, finally allowing himself to relax. Even after millennia, facing someone like Whis an angelic being ranked above his own divine status still made his back stiffen. Were it Beerus himself speaking, he wouldn't have dared even breathe improperly.

"Um… ancestor, who exactly was that?" asked Supreme Kai Shin, blinking in confusion like a novice student.

"You idiot!" the Old Supreme Kai snapped, tapping Shin sharply on the head with his staff. "How are you supposed to be the Supreme Kai if you don't even recognize Whis the angelic attendant of Lord Beerus, the God of Destruction?!"

"Ow! I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" Shin yelped, rubbing his head.

The elder Kai sighed and shook his head, muttering under his breath. "Good grief… what a disgrace to the Kaioshin title. A junior who doesn't even know the hierarchy of divine authority honestly, what has the universe come to?"

After grumbling for a while, he slumped back in his chair. "Anyway, we can't do anything about Beerus now. He's already awake. Let's just pray he doesn't decide to blow up Earth today."

Shin hesitated before asking, "Ancestor, what exactly is a 'Super Saiyan God'? Is that even real?"

The Old Supreme Kai frowned, rubbing his chin. "I've heard no such title. I know of Super Saiyans that's the race of warriors who live on Earth now. There's Son Goku, Vegeta, and the others, all capable of transformations beyond mortal comprehension. But a godly Saiyan? That's unheard of. Not even the ancient texts mention such a being."

He sighed heavily. "If it exists, it's beyond my knowledge and that's what worries me the most."

Dividing Line

On Earth, aboard Bulma's luxurious cruise ship

The birthday celebration was in full swing. Dozens of guests crowded around the lower decks where tables overflowed with food, music filled the air, and fireworks glittered over the ocean.

Lin Hao had only sampled a few dishes before quietly slipping away to the upper deck. There, he stretched out on a reclining chair beneath the clear blue sky, closing his eyes as the sea breeze brushed past.

He wasn't here to party he was waiting.

Lin Hao had sensed it long ago: Beerus, the God of Destruction, was awake. Ever since his own power had ascended to the Super Saiyan 5 state three years prior, he had felt restless. There hadn't been a single opponent capable of forcing him to go all out. The very thought of facing Beerus the being said to stand at the pinnacle of destruction filled him with excitement.

But what intrigued him even more was the prophecy of the Super Saiyan God. His very presence had already shifted fate because of his interference, Son Goku and Vegeta's growth had taken a different path. Instead of pursuing divine ki, they were both refining their primal Saiyan energy, pushing closer to the power of the Great Ape God form, not yet the divine realm.

Still, the last time Lin Hao's energy had erupted, it had certainly reached the world of the Gods of Destruction. That was what must have drawn Beerus's attention.

He smiled faintly to himself. "So, the God of Destruction is coming here for me. Perfect."

In terms of sheer combat power, Lin Hao's strength already exceeded that of Beerus. Even without transforming fully, he could match the God's might at Super Saiyan 3. And now, after mastering Ultra Instinct through the system, his confidence was absolute.

"Lin Hao! Why are you up here?" came Goku's cheerful voice from behind.

Lin Hao opened one eye slightly as Goku landed on the deck. "Don't you want to eat? The food down there's amazing!"

Lin Hao turned his gaze back to the clouds and answered casually, "I'm waiting for someone. He'll be here soon someone powerful."

"Waiting for someone?" Goku tilted his head, curious. "You mean… someone even stronger than you?"

"You'll find out soon enough," Lin Hao replied calmly. "You can stay here if you like, or go enjoy the food. It's your choice."

Goku grinned. "Heh, guess I'll wait with you. If you're calling him powerful, then this should be good."

Lin Hao closed his eyes again, allowing the calm wind to wash over him. For the first time in years, he felt completely at ease. "Better rest while I can," he murmured to himself. "I've been training nonstop with those two maniacs for three years straight…"

Goku chuckled softly, then turned his eyes skyward. A subtle tension filled the air, the kind that made even his battle instincts stir.

"What kind of opponent could make Lin Hao sound that serious?" Goku wondered, excitement building inside him. "Whoever he is… I can't wait to meet him."
