He heard her steps before he saw her. They were light and almost solemn in their pace. Then, she appeared.
Her skin possessed an almost silver tinge. The moonlight wrapped around her like a shawl, not merely reflecting off her but obeying her.
Artemis.
"You've made quite a name for yourself," she remarked in a detached manner, as she stepped onto the balcony.
Her voice remained the same- untouched by time, untouched by him.
Percy didn't look directly at her. "Didn't think names mattered to immortals."
"They don't." She paused beside him, with her arms folded behind her back , gazing at the sea. "But intent does. And yours reeks of... fixation."
"Is that what you think this is?" he asked.
"You're trying to rewrite fate—with parties, half-gods, and gold."
He then turned to properly face her
"No," he said, in a softer voice. "I'm trying to remind you that even fate flinched once. That in a world of prophecies and puppets, there was one moment it looked away. And in that breath of silence, you weren't a goddess, and I wasn't a pawn. You saw me. You chose me."
Her expression changed for a second, recalling a past memory, but it passed quickly.
"That was war," she said.
"No," Percy whispered, his voice filled with a stubborn kind of hope- the kind that can never be forgotten.
"That was the only moment that ever really felt true"
