In year of 2028, that was the day when the sky broke. Slowly, a hole appeared in the sky, we called these hole 'Rifts'. there is not just one but many start forming across the sky. From that Rift, something came out. We called them as the Anomalous, we don't exactly know what are they but they are flesh monstrosity. They often take a shape of a ship or plane, a flesh vehicle as we can tell currently. Humanity try to fight back desperately. But for 4 year, we haven't make progress. Our military is strong, but we don't have enough firepower to fight back their horde.
One day, a scientist came out, we call him Dr α or Alpha. He came out with technology we called as Kanjin or 艦人 and often called as Ship Human, it's basically when you combine human and ship. They still a human but they also have something called rigging around them. These rigging is their ship part when Kanjin use it to fight, sometimes the ship itself can appear when they use for transport, left on the dock or suppressive fire from a far. This technology itself isn't free, it's have consequence. In order to implement, they need a human but due to several reason, they can only use volunteers. Many people sign and volunteer despite knowing that they will lost their memory. Since that day, humanity start to fight back but also gain many casualties.
Through out the war, Humanity start to combine their strength in order to fight the Anomalous. UN eventually change to United Earth or UE, and since the frontline most of time happend on sea, they create United Earth Navy or UEN. These Kanjin, despite being strong, still an disorganised fleet since the usual commander is not fit due several reason, one of them is respect. Eventually, the role leader land on the rising star at the time, USS Gerald R. Ford. He became the Admiral of combine Kanjin strength to fight the Anomalous. USS Gerald R. Ford is is widely known turning catastrophic siege into successful defend.
year of 2044, 12 years after the apperance of the rifts. The war still continue and ragging across the ocean, most battle occur at Pacific ocean and second to it is Atlantic Ocean. UEN Council, consist of UE Prime Minister, the admirals and small fraction of conglomerate from various military company. Decide to make a meeting to go on whatever project that is important for wareffort. at first, they try to use drone ship but the anomalous always surprise them by hacking the drone, almost infecting the system with their weird data. They eventually decide to follow one of Dr Alpha plan, creating the Star Project. The Star Project is a highly advance Battleship, it's designed to be strong enough to survive nuclear blast at close range, fast enough to dodge missile and to have strong firepower. During the construction, they put an experimental weapon called Molecular Disruption Device or MDD. This weapon also created by Dr Alpha. They has planned to called this ship as their official first ship by UEN, they called it UEN Union. Once they have the volunteer, they decide to began the combination. Hoping that once the Kanjin came out, he can replace Ford and became the Grand Admiral.
But a failure occur, the Project derail from planned path. The Kanjin was supposed to stay tall just like how he was before but instead, he came out as short as 4'9 feet tall. He also have weaker body yet still mantain the speed and firepower, they also found out that the MDD consume too much energy. The engineers decide to put limiter on the MDD to prevent consuming Union energy. Despite the failure, Union integrated with 1st Pacific Carrier Strike Group that are lead by Admiral USS Gerald R. Ford and his right hand man, RF Admiral Kuznetsov.
December, year 2049. The biggest and catastrophic failure of UEN happend. They believe that the heart of Anomalous is at Alaska, so they decide to send everything they got. 87 Carrier Strike Group combine effort, 700 ship they send. But it's was a trap, no one know how it happend and some higher ups suspicious with each other. But one thing for sure, it's was a massacre. out of 700, only 50 escaped. During the escape, Admiral USS Gerald R. Ford sacrifice himself while the escape lead by RF Kuznetsov escaped. Union were drag out from the battle after a argument with Ford due to his sacrifice. the battle of alaska is the most costly battle for UEN after Tokyo bay siege.

January, 2050. After the battle of alaska, we suffer heavy losses. But we also gain the real location of Anomalous heart. After Ford death, i were raise the rank and became Grand Admiral somehow. With it, i can order every Kanjin. Yet how can i order them when we are only fifty left? But i have to see the end of this. This has gone long enough, if we lost here, humanity will perish.
"Union, We are close to our destination." a monotone voice called through the communication suddenly. slowly i sat up from my deck and my side, to the last Kanjin Carrier, RF Admiral Kuznetsov. he stood still on the flight deck. his greyish hair, the usual deep red stare across chilly horizon slowly look at me. "Understood, Kuznetsov. Prepare the Corvette's and frigate's to spread, send your fighter and scout the area." i order him before his whole carrier glow and disappear just to combine with Kuznetsov. he skimming through the sea surface as he send his fighter to scout these cold artic blasted blizzard. The Corvette's and frigate's start to spread as they surge through the waves. I walk up to rail and climb and jump down to sea as my ship glow and disappear, combine with me before i land on the sea surface. slowly i stand up while push back my white hair from obscuring my view. My rigging glow as my MDD seperate from my rigging before split into 4 and hovering behind me. We continue moving as while we slowly spread and create big group, watching our surroundings from ambush. the distance between us is not far or close, a lesson we learn from alaska.
Slowly, we stride to reach the heart of Anomalous. What suprise us is a big towering drill, drilling into deep ocean. How big that this? 100 meter? 120? Maybe larger. "That... is a offshore drilling rig? What it's doing in here? It's way too huge and in middle of nowhere!." F-125 Baden-Württemberg mouth open wide as she look up the drilling machine, the lead and only survivor ship of her class. "Something is wrong, i detect hundred of Anomalous presence on the rig and they just keep growing." KRI Raden Eddy Martadinata, the last Southeast Asia ship chime in as he shaking due to temprature and cold blizzard. more Frigate's detecting the same thing, this make his already freezing face filled with pale fear and concern.
"It's the heart," Kuznetsov said that as he glance at me. "what?" i look at him with confusion, he look at me for second before turn to look at machine and slowly moving. "this machine, we don't what with it's purpose but if what the frigate's said were true then," he slowly turn toward me before look me into my eyes, seeking for something."What should we do, Grand Admiral?." Hearing that, i think for moment. "Focus on destroying the drill, Corvette's!." I shout to gain their attention, spreading ny right arm up to air. "Protect the perimeter, the anomalous will pouring out once we start attacking the drill. Guard the Frigate's and the rest!." Just after i order them, the Anomalous start to pouring out from the drill. As if they can detect us. The Corvette's immediately scramble to their position as they fire barrage of hell upon them. Meanwhile the Frigate's fire upon the drill, Kuznetsov release his fighters and attackers to engange the Anomalous airs while his attacker strike down the anomalous on the sea.
The frigate's been firing barrage of missiles and cannon yet none of their attack seem to do anything on the drill. "It's doesn't work, the drill wall is too thick!." One of the Frigate's shout before get hit by a harden bone spike to his chest, kill him immediately. Seeing it, My MDD flare alongside my right blue eyes glow before i fire 10% the strength of it upon the drill, making hole on surface but not enough to destroy it. "There! Shoot at the hole!." I shout as they change their target on the hole. The Anomalous instinctly cover the hole as they patch it with their self meanwhile we raining hell on the hole. But our number start to dwindling as our Corvette's fall one by one.
I fire another with 50% upon the hole, creating massive hole before continue hell fire on it. But it's clear, we can't hold any longer. "ugh, can you just Verdammt tot!." she shout in rage before attractinga weird wielding scyhte anomalous. that anomalous engange and she trying hard to fight it, but it too fast and slash her head off. meanwhile Martadinata were surrounded and killed after being torn apart. One of the anomalous lunge at me and bite my right arm, taking chunk and causing blood dropping from the bite mark like river. the anomalous land on surface before turn around and went to lunge if not for Kuznetsov to kick it down and stab it with his cane sword, it slowly sink into the ocean. We then look around and realise, there is no one but two of us left. i notice Kuznetsov looking at me, i look down on the water and notice my left purple eyes has glowing as i hold onto my hand. i am tired, my body already exhausted from constant barrage fire on the drill and now i just got bit. i hope i didn't turn like a zombie.
"I have a plan, but you won't like it." Hearing that, i have no choice but to listen. "Good, i need you to distract them to you. Your speed is enough, meanwhile i will use my secret weapon." "What is it?." I ask him but he just shake his head. "Just like i said, you won't like it. Just do your job, and make sure to win this war." Hearing that, i have no choice but start running across the wave. The Anomalous always seem to be attracted to me, I don't know why though. They start chasing me just as i dodge and kill those Infront of me.
while i keep gliding across the waves, Kuznetsov reach for something on his chest before pulling it out. That glowing thing, i know it. "Are you Insane!? You are killing yourself!." I shout before block one of the anomalous before keep moving. Kuznetsov just pull out his Nuclear core, his engine. He had replace his boiler few years ago after many years of modernization, but his core can also work as a weapon, his secret weapon. "We have no way to win this war, it's either sacrifice or we all dead." "But i can use 100% of my MDD, we can win this!." He shake his head before point his rifle to the drill. "No, you will die if you do that. I can't let you die aswell, you are our only hope and our only Grand Admiral." For first time, Kuznetsov smile, a smile that sent chill down my spine. "Goodbye... Arthur." Hearing that word once again, i remember what Ford told to me before he do the same thing "No! Kuznetsov! You promised!!." I screamed as I can't stand he doing the same thing as what Ford does. His rifle glowed before blasting his core toward the drill. The distance between me and the drill is too close as it's explode. "AHHHHH!!!." The shockwave and heat throw me into the ocean, the fire engulf me for moment, giving me a permanent burn on my right arm before it dies out as i sank into the ocean.
Hours later
"Any sign?." The pilot ask to his crew, but he see none. They are team of evac helicopters that were send to check upon the situation on the artic after nuclear explosion were release. One of the crew look on the surface with his binoculars, he see many wreck of the ship, the drill sinking into the ocean. He can't see anything until he see a ship, walk wreck as it's stuck on the iceberg. He take a moment and see Union sitting on the iceberg. "It's the grand Admiral!." He shout before the helicopter descent to rescue him.
I look up above the sky, see the helicopter slowly descending. It's must be the evac helicopters... But who are they going to save? No one expects me. I look down on my right palm, holding tight Kuznetsov medallion, the only thing left of him. It hurt... I trust him, and now he leave me with this medallion and scars i have to remember forever.
Week later
The war officially over, they congratulate me for winning the war. But i felt... Empty, i lost everyone, i lost Kuznetsov, Kaga, Raden and more... Especially my brother, Ford. Ever since the ceremony, i stay in my room as i contemplated my fated. I felt like i should have gone with them, yet here i am... The last Kanjin. I was right Kuznetsov... I don't deserve to be called the Hero.
Suddenly there is a knock on my door, i slowly stand up as i walk up to the door. I open it and see a soldier before he salute me, i salute him back. "Grand Admiral, we need you in the HQ. It's urgent." Hearing that, i have no choice but to go. I gesture him to leave before wear my repaired uniform.
Once i arrived, the colonel that command the HQ walk up to me. "Sir, you might want to see this." I folow him before take a look on the monitor, it's a Rift. "It's seem to be appear after the the last Battle, Sir. But the rift seem to rapidly destabilise and going to collapse soon." Hearing that, i thinking for moment. Did they leave it here? But why? The Anomalous isn't smart... No. they are smart, the fact that they planned that ambush and using the drill to bore into earth core to either distabilize the earth core or something... "What should we do, Sir?." "What the Higher ups suggested?." I ask him before he take a moment to remember. "They suggest to send someone, Sir." "Then told them to send me there." Hearing that, he hesitated before went to report it.
Hour later
the Higher ups appear on the monitor Infront of me. Their face are dark as always, to hide their identity. I hate when they keep doing that. "What in God name are you thinking, Grand Admiral?." "Sending you? Our biggest asset to some unknown hole that will collapse soon? Are out of your mind?." "Explain yourself, Union." Hearing that, i look around as the HQ getting tense. i look at them again.
"The war is over, there is no reason i should stay here. I need my retirement and this... This rift is the answer." "Absolutely not, don't forget the contract you write." Of course, the contract. They know i still have my memory somehow, and they use it against me. "Don't forget, Grand Admiral. You can't went back to your normal life, You are a Kanjin. A weapon. Your life is for war now." I stood there, i felt build up anger. I lose everything, yet this is how they repay me? I want to kill. Them... Yet i just too tired. But i don't always have to follow them, aren't i?
A day later
"What!? Are you telling me, a big ship and not event that stealthy, just stole our equipment and disappear!? You incompetent idiot!." One of the higher ups scream to the officer after being reported. Meanwhile i already left the base. I can felt the same chill, i stand on my ship deck as the ship slowly getting closer to the rift. I didn't wear my battle uniform anymore, only my spare jacket and scarf for this cold climate. I jump off the ship before my ship glow and turn into rigging, i walk up to the rift and look at it. It's pretty clear that it's will collapse soon, good thing i arrived earlier. Suddenly my radar ping a signal, a drone. They seem to send it to find me, but when they arrive.. i will long gone.
I glance on my back, looking at the cold ice that was once grave for the remaining ship. I turn forward before walk up into the rift, walking into my new life. Either worse than this, or better. This is my Final Recording, goodbye for everything. Grand Admiral UEN Union, is out.
