Jack searched the nearly wrecked van, finding nothing except a small revolver in an evidence bag inside the cabin and a few scattered "HYPER" pills in the trunk.
He then swung his flashlight around, still finding nothing. Not even a drop of blood on the ground nearby.
Jack's earlier firing had actually startled Ma Xidao. Ma Xidao didn't have his exceptional vision, and from hundreds of meters away, under the dim streetlights, he couldn't clearly see the attacker's attack.
However, given the distance, the fact that the gun was fired while in motion and held left-handed, even with the added skill, it's not surprising that all three were shot away. It's fair to say the three guys reacted quickly and were quite lucky.
While the SIG Sauer P320-XTen is a high-powered pistol using 10mm AUTO ammunition, capable of easily penetrating AAA-rated body armor, it's ultimately just a pistol and can't match the penetration of a rifle.
After piercing the double-layered metal of the rear door, the bullet's trajectory was entirely up to fate. However, Jack's primary motivation for firing was to save lives, and his decisive action proved to be a sound one.
The three killers were incredibly brutal. Had he hesitated, the other detectives would have been killed. By then, one of the two yakuza in the car had died in the accident, and the other had his brains knocked out.
"Is this your national police's sidearm? Why is it in the evidence bag?" Jack handed the revolver to Ma Xidao.
"Before he was taken to the ambulance, the captain said he found it at the residence of two yakuza, along with the drugs. We haven't yet determined the source."
Ma Xidao took the revolver, took a photo of the serial number, and then handed the evidence bag to the officer next to him. Then, somewhat embarrassedly, he continued to speak to Jack.
"Thanks to you for this, but I have one more thing to ask. I'd like to go to the nearby police station and talk to some of my former colleagues about the situation. Could you keep an eye on them at the hospital for me?"
Jack nodded, indicating that it was okay.
After
a nap on a bench in the hospital hallway, Jack regained his energy. He went to the bathroom to wash his face, then visited the injured detectives in the ward.
He could only shake his head helplessly at these guys. Their weak fighting skills were one thing, but they knew they were arresting drug dealers, yet they didn't even carry guns.
When he searched the scene earlier, he discovered that, aside from Captain Jang Tae-su, who carried a Taser, the detectives' only weapons were a few telescopic batons of varying sizes. It was truly pathetic.
Look at what this distorted police-community relationship has done to these Korean police. They refuse to carry guns even at the risk of their lives. They'd rather die than lose their jobs. Of
course, as a US federal police officer, he couldn't really laugh at them; he was just going from one extreme to the other.
Captain Jang Tae-soo was the most seriously injured, with a neck brace on his neck. He had just finished an IV drip and was already asleep in bed. The other three police officers were standing by with their heads down. When they saw Jack come in, two of them who knew Jack quickly stood up and bowed solemnly to thank him.
"I'm glad everyone's okay." Jack quickly made a gesture with his hands to ask them to sit down.
"Who is this?" Jiang Zhentai, who was called in to help, had never seen Jack before and was a little confused when he suddenly saw a foreigner.
"He's from the FBI, and he's here to assist our big brother Ma Xidao." A detective explained.
Jiang Zhentai's eyes suddenly widened. "Huh? The American FBI? The FBI from 'FBI WARING'?"
Jack frowned and nodded with a wry smile. Come on, now I can trigger keywords without introducing myself, right?
"By the way, did you see each other? I didn't see any surveillance footage along the road where the accident happened. Your attackers were clearly well-prepared, so they might not be easy to find."
The older of the two detectives scratched his head with a distressed expression and nudged the younger one beside him. "I didn't wake up until you carried me out of the car. I really didn't see anything. Jong-su?"
The younger detective, known as Jong-su, had a buzz cut and a worried look on his face, shaking his head like a rattle.
"They were all wearing hats and masks, so I couldn't see their faces at all," Jiang Zhentai said with a bitter face.
"Eh? So, senior, you saw it at that time?" The two detectives looked at him in surprise.
"I woke up just when they were killing people. I was so scared that I dared not move. I could only play dead." Jiang Zhentai didn't feel embarrassed and told the truth directly.
"Forget it, you guys have a good rest." Jack was about to get up when he heard a burst of women's shouting in the corridor.
"Husband! Husband! Jiang Zhentai!"
"Dad!"
"Brother-in-law!"
Jiang Zhentai stood up suddenly, but his sprained waist hurt so much that he sat back down with a cry of "ouch".
The sound quickly came from far away, and then the door of the ward opened, and three beauties of different sizes appeared there.
The large one was in her early thirties, still charming. The small one was about eleven or twelve, delicate and lovely, her beauty completely uncharacteristic of a Korean product. As for the medium one...
Jack's eyelids twitched slightly. He didn't know many Korean celebrities, after all, they were hard to identify, all looking the same, but the one before him was instantly recognizable.
Im Yoona, the center of Girls' Generation and the ultimate example of Korean innocent plastic surgery, was at the peak of her beauty, and under the strange filters of this film and television world, her adorable beauty was even more captivating.
"Hey, hey, honey, keep your voice down. There are other patients here. Tae-soo was in so much pain that he finally fell asleep after taking a sedative."
Jiang Zhentai, holding his waist, rushed over, covered his wife's mouth, and pushed the three of them back into the hallway. Seeing his little daughter's adorable tearful expression, he seemed to forget his pain for a moment and hugged her and kissed her.
Jack gently closed the ward door behind them, still a little dazed.
This guy with the dotted eyes must have accumulated a lot of merit in his past life. He was so ugly, yet he still managed to marry such a beautiful wife. Most importantly, his daughter didn't inherit any of his flaws, except for his single eyelids.
"Honey, are you okay? We got the call saying you were in a car accident, and our whole family rushed over." The plus-size beauty nervously checked Jiang Zhentai's body, then breathed a sigh of relief and slapped him hard on the shoulder.
"Didn't you say it was just a small favor? How did it get to this point? If anything were to happen to you, how would we, a widow and an orphan, survive? We still have 20 years to pay off our mortgage!"
"Hey, don't say such unlucky things. I'm just doing this so I can get back to the Guangsou Team sooner and earn more field allowance."
Jiang Zhentai glanced back at Jack, wishing he could cover his wife's mouth again. "There are strangers here. Can you please give me some face?"
But when he looked back again, he saw the starry eyes of his wife and sister-in-law. His sister-in-law was clutching her small chest, a look of fascination on her face, muttering to herself, "So handsome!"
"How are you?" Jack smiled a perfect smile, his eight perfectly white teeth gleaming in the hallway light.
"Uh, fine, thank you and you?" His sister-in-law half-opened her mouth and instinctively replied in English.
"I'm fine too." Tsk, the code matched, but I wondered who copied the Chinese and Korean English textbooks.
I'm planning to take a day off tomorrow to review a few movies I've been thinking about. I'm getting tired of watching the same old crime-solving movies, so I'm planning to give the protagonists some extra drama.
