She stepped closer, her footsteps light against the polished floor, her posture relaxed yet deliberate. Her eyes were bright, too bright, glimmering with something unreadable as she tilted her head slightly.
"So…" Raya began casually, lips curling into a smile that appeared innocent on the surface. "Is it just the two of us going?"
She paused just enough for the words to sink in.
"Anna and I?"
The smile she wore held far more meaning than the question itself.
Adrian didn't answer immediately.
He leaned back in his chair, fingers steepled loosely in front of him, dark eyes fixed on her face with an intensity that suggested he was peeling back layers rather than listening to words. That smile of hers, he had seen it too many times to mistake it for harmless enthusiasm.
"What do you think?" Adrian asked instead.
Raya blinked once, then shrugged lightly. "I'm not thinking anything."
