The next day, Alex chose a bench under a large tree in the university garden. The previous day's rain had left the air filled with the scent of wet soil. Birds chirped and water dripped from leaves, creating a calm rhythm for his heart.
He opened his research folder again, glancing at the people around him, and noticed Anna walking by. Her face remained serene, but her eyes conveyed loneliness and a subtle sadness.
"Hello," Alex said softly.
Anna met his gaze for a brief moment before nodding. "Hello."
Though only a few words were exchanged, a strange connection seemed to spark between them. He felt as if his heart and the heart his brother had donated were beginning to beat in unison.
Research Lab – Evening
After class, Alex stayed alone in the research lab. The desk was cluttered with notebooks and scans of the donated heart. He flipped through the pages repeatedly, yet no clue seemed to emerge.
His phone buzzed. A message from a friend popped up with a photo of Anna, along with a short note: "Saw her in the library."
Looking at the photo, Alex felt an inexplicable pull, as if an invisible force was drawing him closer.
He picked up a pen and began recording every feeling: curiosity, hope, and the lingering pain from the past.
"My brother's heart… it may be trying to tell me something," he murmured.
