Chapter 55 - Chapter 55: Now, We're Friends

The next day, early morning.

Morin left his room feeling refreshed and with a firm step.

Carlos had already sent Morin a list. The list he sent contained the names of people assassinated by the Fraternity. What Morin had to do was investigate who had benefited from those assassinations.

These people were the most likely to be working with Sloan.

Morin was preparing to take his qualifying mission, become an official assassin, and then start investigating this.

After Morin completed his qualifying mission and became an official assassin, he could take on more missions.

He could then use the list of people working with Sloan to see if there were any bounties on their heads at the Continental Hotel, and then take them out.

This would not only reduce the factions working with Sloan and find key evidence that Sloan had betrayed "fate," but he could also earn a mission reward from the Continental Hotel and raise his assassin rank.

At the same time, he could also build up his reputation with Wick, show off his skills, and slowly bring Wick into the Templar organization to pass on the torch... wait, no, to maintain order in the world!

This was a good deal that had three benefits!

After Morin left his room, one of the female assassins asked the other.

"Can you move?"

"I can, but I don't want to."

"Me too... I wish it could always be like this..."

"Would you please stop being so horny?"

"Are you serious? You were the one last night..."

The two "femme fatales" lay on the bed, bickering weakly before slowly falling back asleep.

There was a saying that went, "A bull can only die of exhaustion; it can't ruin a field," but it was clear that this time, the situation was reversed.

The physical fitness of people cannot be generalized.

"A pleasant evening, sir?" The receptionist at the hotel lobby smiled at Morin. "The guests in the rooms near you complained about you last night, saying the noise from your room was too loud."

"Hmm..." Morin shrugged. "Shouldn't that just prove that your hotel's soundproofing is faulty?"

"You're right. That's why I didn't call you," the receptionist still smiled, handing over a set of car keys.

"This is a gift from the hotel as an apology for not giving you the best experience. We hope you can forgive us."

"That's very nice," Morin took the keys. "Then I forgive you."

"Thank you very much for your forgiveness. We are committed to providing you with an even more comfortable experience," the receptionist bowed slightly.

"So, may I ask if you are here to inquire about your official assassin qualification?"

"Of course."

"For the qualification, you need to accept and complete a D-rank mission within a month. After you have a successful record, and you spend five gold coins for the official registration fee, you can become an official assassin."

The receptionist explained, "For missions, you can either

accept them in person or online. You can do so at the front desk of any of our hotels, or you can use the Continental Hotel's official confidential website. Would

you like to accept a mission now?"

"I'll do it myself," Morin said. "Tell Wick I've left, and

don't forget my agreement with him."

"I will, sir." the receptionist said.

Morin nodded and walked out of the hotel.

A luxury sports car was parked outside the hotel entrance, and a man in a suit was standing next to it, holding the door open and gesturing for Morin to get in.

"Thank you," Morin nodded.

He got in the car, skillfully started it, and drove away.

He was going to find an information broker to buy some information.

Compared to spending his own time investigating, Morin preferred to just buy it.

Also, the Continental Hotel's intelligence network was very powerful, and as long as you paid enough gold coins, you could get what you wanted.

After getting the detailed information he wanted, Morin returned to the hotel.

"Sir?" the receptionist asked, looking a bit confused.

"It's just that I suddenly realized a serious problem," Morin said.

"My home is not here."

"...I'm sorry, sir. And?" The receptionist was bewildered.

"So, when you gave me this car, did you not consider that I have no place to keep it?" Morin placed the car keys on the counter.

"Please convert it to US dollars and transfer it to my card. Thank you."

The receptionist: "..."

He had never seen a person so shameless!

"Sir... I need to get permission from my superior first," the receptionist said with a smile.

"Go ahead," Morin waved his hand. "I need to leave to do my mission soon and have to catch a plane."

"Very well, sir. Don't worry, if you miss it, we'll arrange the fastest private jet for you." The receptionist left and told Winston about what had happened.

In reality, while the Continental Hotel would compensate assassins who had a bad experience, they wouldn't go as far as to give them a luxury sports car.

For example, the person who had complained to the hotel only received a room change and a period of free accommodation, which was nothing compared to what

Morin had received.

The reason Morin received such compensation was, of course, because Winston had instructed them to do so.

After Winston heard Wick's comments about Morin

yesterday, he had sent someone to investigate all of Morin's information.

However...

Morin's information was not hidden. It looked very ordinary, was fully verifiable, and could withstand any scrutiny.

But it was precisely because of this that Winston was so

cautious of Morin.

Wick's assessment was enough to make Winston feel pressured when dealing with Morin.

After all, that was a compliment from the Boogeyman himself, who admitted that he was not as good as him!

And now, a person like that had a background check that

was completely ordinary?

Who would believe that?

Who would believe it, and who would dare to believe it?

Winston didn't believe it. He thought that behind Morin stood a powerful force, a force so great that it could make the Continental Hotel's intelligence network useless.

So, he chose to use this opportunity to give Morin a luxury car, to show his goodwill first. At least, while he didn't know the full story, it was better to not offend him.

And when he heard the receptionist's report...

Winston felt that he understood Morin even less.

A person whose information showed him to be completely ordinary except for his good looks, but who was considered superior by Wick, yet would haggle over a small matter like a luxury car.

What kind of person was this?

"...Keep the car for him and give him the money. Transfer it to his card," Winston said after thinking for a moment.

"Also, add a message. 'This is a gift from me, and I hope we can be friends, Mr. Morin.'"

...

In the hotel lobby, the receptionist respectfully said to Morin, "Mr. Morin, one million US dollars has been transferred to your account, and the car is still yours.

You can store it at the hotel for free while you are not in New York."

"Also, this is a gift from Mr. Winston, the owner of the hotel. He hopes to be friends with you, Mr. Morin."

"Friends?" Morin raised an eyebrow. "Great. I like friends like that. Tell Mr. Winston for me that from now on, he can consider me his friend."
