Chapter 6 - Eyes In The Shadows.

Hazel took her luggage then stepped out of her dorm, she locked the door.

"Hey cheer up, maybe Mrs Quinn might change her mind later on and call you back" Ava muttered, sadly.

"Ava's right—Christ! Aunt Riley is here!" Skylar whisper yelled the moment they stepped out of the school building.

Hazel stared at Riley's car which was parked not too far away from the school building. She sighed.

"You guys should go back in, she seems angry" Hazel said, softly.

Ava and Skylar quickly ran off into the building.

With long strides, she reached the car, pulled the door open, and slid in before shutting it.

Riley stared at Hazel and scoffed. She started the car, and it zoomed off.

"I strictly told you, no partying for God sake!" Riley snapped the moment they stepped into the apartment.

"I know.... my friends were attending, so I couldn't stay behind," Hazel retorted, her voice weary as she threw her luggage on the couch.

"You couldn't stay behind? Hazel look..." Riley was saying but paused. She sighed.

"I know you weren't the one who hosted the party, but next time, try to avoid stuffs like this," Riley said, calmly.

"Yeah I know. That was Samantha's doing, she succeeded in setting me up" Hazel mumbled, calmly.

"Seriously?! That bitch is literally getting on my nerves!" Riley said, huffing angrily. She rolled her eyes.

"Ugh, whatever! So what's your plan for now?" Riley asked, calmly as she stride towards the kitchen.

Hazel trailed behind, slowly.

"Maybe look for a part time job, I don't wanna stay at home " Hazel said, softly.

"Yes!!! Of course there is. I found a job but it's in a company and I mean one of the biggest and best company in town! They're in need of a secretary." Riley stated, happily.

"Really?!" Hazel shrieked, excitedly.

"Of course! You should just get yourself prepared for the interview tomorrow but don't panic, they might pick you " Riley uttered and laughed.

"Thanks so much Riley!" Hazel mumbled, sweetly. She threw herself into Riley's arms.

Riley patted her back, gently.

"Once you get the job, I'll switch your course load to part time. It won't be easy though but the pay is good so you can save enough" Riley muttered, softly.

"I'm so happy. I'll go to my room now, I need to prepare for the interview " Hazel stated, seriously as she disengaged the hug.

"Yeah yeah, it's late anyways. Adieus " Riley muttered, lazily. Hazel happily left the kitchen.

Getting to her room, Hazel closed the door softly behind her. She quickly changed into her nightwear and moved towards the window, staring out with a distant gaze.

Her shoulders shook as she trembled, tears welling in her eyes before spilling down her cheek.

The cold night breeze tossed her hair in different directions as her silent, painful sobs filled the air and the darkness.

She was deeply hurt, so hurt that it felt like she should cry out all her pains. Mrs Quinn had told her that she didn't belong in Wexford college.

She just wanted to go to school, study and live a peaceful life.

If only she had the gut she would've slapped Samantha hard so the both of them will be even.

Hazel sniffled and pushed some strands of hair which fell on her face behind her ear.

She suddenly froze when she saw a black tinted car parked not too far away from their apartment.

There a man leaned lazily on the car, but she couldn't make out his features due to how the street was dark. But the faint glow of the moonlight remained.

Hazel strained her neck to see to see who it was but it was impossible. She quickly left her room and ran downstairs.

She panted softly as she stepped outside, her eyes darting around for the black car or the mysterious figure. But the street was empty as though no had ever been there.

Hazel sighed, she ran her fingers through her hair which was being tousled by the cold breeze.

"That's weird. Am I seeing things again?" She mumbled to herself. Spinning around, she head back inside.

"Hazel, dinner's ready!" Riley said sweetly, the moment Hazel stepped in.

"I'm not hungry, so I'll just eat this" Hazel said. She picked up a spoon, scooped some peanut butter, spread it over the toasted bread and took a bite.

"What were you doing outside anyway—whoah! You look so sexy in this nightwear, guess I did picked the right choice!" Riley retorted, happily.

"I just wanted to check out something" Hazel mumbled, shyly due to Riley's praises about her nightwear.

"You know you can't eat only that for dinner, girl I went through hell while making all these so you don't expect me to finish them all alone" Riley complained.

"Awwnn thanks so much for the food but you can have them all alone" Hazel said and spanked Riley's butt, then ran upstairs.

"What—you silly girl!!" Riley screeched, embarrassed.

Meanwhile, in a dark corner, a man leaned lazily on the tree, his sharp, dark gaze fixed ahead, one hand tucked into his jacket pocket.

What a bold little bunny, she had run out, thinking she would find anyone but to her disappointment, there was nothing.

She even wore a short loose gown, the fabric swaying lightly due to the night breeze, her short, smooth legs left for his eyes to view alone.

He chuckled, darkly.

Anything she does seems to amuse him.

But why was she crying, is she being bullied or maltreated at home?

"You ain't done yet? Wait, what are you staring at, you don't want me to see it" Cassian whined, his gaze darting around, but nothing caught his interest.

Vladimir pushed himself forward away from the tree and strode to where his car was parked. He got in and closed the door.

Cassian got into the driver's seat and closed the door.

"What made you visit this neighborhood, is it a girl?" He asked with a playful grin.

Vladimir stared out through the window, completely ignoring and giving him the cold shoulder.

"Hey don't ignore me! If it's a girl let's share her" Cassian joked.

Vladimir gave him a death stare making him to cough awkwardly.

"Fine... I'll just drive" Cassian mumbled, lowly.

Soon, the car drove off... disappearing into the black night.
