O Lo Tieu smiled faintly and pulled To Tuyet toward the living room. When his eyes fell on Lyon, his expression carried the same worry.
At that moment, Ur spoke firmly: "You three are also my precious children. How could I possibly sit back and watch him walk to his death?"
Ethan felt helpless, though it was exactly what he had expected.
After all, this was the kind of Ur he deeply respected.
…
Bola Spear.
A massive city loomed, shrouded in black smoke as flames rose and spread chaos in every direction.
"Roar!"
A heaven-shaking roar tore through the sky. A demon, over a hundred meters tall, wearing a steel helmet, with its entire body bound in chains of iron, was wreaking destruction across the city without mercy.
It lifted its head casually, and in its mouth gathered a pale-blue sphere of condensed magic. The sphere swelled into a blazing light, and in the next instant, it shot out as a searing energy beam that cut straight through the streets.
"Rumble! Rumble! Rumble!!!"
The terrifying rays slammed into building after building, sending waves of explosions echoing throughout the city. Countless fireballs erupted one after another, devouring the city in smoke and flames.
"It's that demon! Deliora!"
"Run!"
"Save me!"
"Daddy! Mommy!"
The cries of fear, the desperate pleas for help, the helpless sobs of children these filled the air of the burning city.
But the demon ignored every sound. Instead, it rampaged even more ferociously, as if those screams only delighted it further.
"Deliora…"
Having left Ur's home, he rushed here in madness. Standing at Gao Lei's side, his eyes fell upon the demon before him the all-too-familiar monster. As he witnessed the misery engulfing the city, fear slowly crept across his face.
He had once thought he could defeat Deliora.
But when he truly stood before Deliora, Gao Lei realized the truth he was utterly powerless against the demon. He didn't even have the courage to strike.
"Rumble! Rumble! Rumble! Rumble!"
The ground-shaking noise thundered on as Deliora continued its rampage, destroying everything, reducing the city to rubble. Gao Lei remained frozen in place, his mind blank, his body refusing to move.
"Roar!!!"
Once again, pale-blue magic condensed in Deliora's mouth. This time, its attack was aimed directly at Gao Lei's position.
"Bang!!!"
A blinding ray of energy burst forth. When Gao Lei realized the beam was locked on him, his body trembled uncontrollably.
He wanted to dodge, but standing in the face of Deliora's overwhelming power the crushing aura and the despair in his heart he could not muster the strength to move. He was swallowed by fear and hopelessness, unable to react at all.
"Danger!"
A familiar voice rang in his ears. The next moment, Gao Lei felt himself being hurled violently aside.
"Boom!!!"
The energy beam tore through, exploding with a deafening roar. Fire and smoke surged into the sky, engulfing his vision completely.
When the haze finally began to clear, Gao Lei's eyes widened in disbelief.
Before him stood Ur, Ethan, and Lyon.
And shielding them were two colossal walls of ice.
"Thank you, Ethan. I didn't expect your Ice Wall to be even stronger than mine!" Ur gasped, turning her head slightly toward him.
Moments earlier, she had barely managed to throw Gao Lei to safety in time.
There was no way to escape in time.
So Ur instantly cast Ice-Make magic, raising a massive wall of ice in an attempt to block Deliora's attack.
But even she had underestimated Deliora's power.
If Ethan hadn't joined her in shaping another Ice Wall alongside hers, Ur would have been struck directly by the demon's blast.
"No, I still think Master's Ice Wall is stronger," Ethan said with a modest smile.
The twin walls of ice that stood before them gradually shattered, breaking apart into countless glittering crystals that rained down onto the ground.
"You guys… why did you come here?!" Gao Lei lowered his head, his eyes red with emotion. "Didn't I already get expelled from the guild?"
"But you have always been my son."
Ur gently stroked Gao Lei's head.
Hearing her tender words, Gao Lei was stunned, his tears flowing uncontrollably. In that moment, regret pierced his heart like a blade. Why hadn't he listened to Ur before?
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! This is all my fault! I shouldn't have disobeyed you!"
His eyes brimmed with tears as he cried out again and again, "I'll listen to you from now on!"
"It's okay… it's okay." Ur pulled Gao Lei into her arms, her voice soft and soothing, just as gentle as it had always been.
Seeing this, Ethan's impression of Gao Lei shifted slightly. Perhaps this boy wasn't beyond saving after all.
Then Ethan turned his gaze toward Deliora's hulking form. This kind of indestructible demon ordinary attacks alone couldn't even scratch it. Only the most powerful spells had any chance of leaving an impact.
If Ethan didn't have the advanced freezing technique that commanded the icy winds, he never would have allowed Ur to come here, nor could he bear the thought of watching her sacrifice herself.
"Roar!!!"
Another thunderous roar tore from Deliora's throat. Having clashed against their Ice Walls, its attention now shifted entirely to them.
The monster moved, its colossal body shaking the ground as it advanced step by step toward Ethan and the others.
"Alright, we'll talk later. First, let's deal with this demon."
Ethan stepped forward, facing Deliora's overwhelming might.
Yet in his heart, there was no fear only a faint spark of excitement.
