Another Monday. Another math problem that looks like it was designed by demons but not the cool fantasy demons like in graphic novels the boring calculator kind. "AURORA" the teacher yells out calling attendance. "Here," I say without even thinking about it. "What's the point of homework anyway most of us do it in class," I say to my friend Trix. Me and Trix have known each other since kindergarten when a boy tripped her when she was playing tag and we have been friends ever since. She has pin-straight hair. Today she was wearing jeans and a Nirvana t-shirt. She was also wearing Converse covered in doodles. "Yeah," she mutters already looking bored out of her mind. "Wow, six times" " What do you mean six times, "I say confused about what she is on about. "She has looked up at the clock six times in the past 5 minutes." Then suddenly the door swings open the door. "Sorry, I'm late." An out-of-breath boy says. "You're right on time. You can go sit down next to Lily." Mrs Marry says. "This is the new foreign exchange student...what did you say your name was?" Dorianth my name is Dorianth."
I whisper to Trix. " This is probably why she kept checking the time." "Yeah, I got that." She says sarcastically. I take a good look at him he is wearing a black t-shirt, baggy jeans, and tennis shoes. He also has messy brown hair just long enough to cover his ears. He walks past me and sits right behind me. Suddenly the bell goes off. Everyone starts packing up except him he just kind of sits there like he doesn't know what's going on or what to do. "Come on," Trix says and we head to the next class. Every day feels like it's just gaining an extra hour. The rest of the classes were boring just like every other day. Me and Trix walk into homeroom with more homework than yesterday. When I make it through the door I see Dorianth sitting down and go head to my seat. Hopefully, the teacher doesn't talk too much about expectations and how we should act at school. Since my mom isn't going to be home for the rest of this week she's letting me use her car so I really want to get out of here early. The teacher calls attendance again and surprise everyone is here she could have just looked around she didn't need to call it out again. She finished talking and said we are free to go. The new kid bolts out of the classroom but as he was running his schedule falls out of his bag and hits the floor and of course, he didn't notice. I grab my stuff and grabbed his schedule and walk out of the classroom and he is already pretty far down the hall I call out. "Hey, you dropped this." He doesn't hear me. I continue following him and say it again. "Hey, you dropped this." This time he turns around and walks over to me. Sorry, I didn't even notice I dropped this." "It's ok," I say politely. That second his eyes catch the light that was hitting the glass and his eyes sparkle a bright gold for sure the prettiest eyes I have ever seen. "Uhm well, I'll see you tomorrow I guess." I say. " Yea see you tomorrow." With that he's running down the hall again. I wonder why he's in such a rush? I think to myself. Ding it's a text from my mom. It says Hi honey make sure you pick up your little brother from daycare when schools over. I walk down the hallway to the stairs that creek when I walk down because of the old wood. I walk through the parking lot to my car and get in and start the engine. I start texting mom back. Hey mom I am on the way to pick up Lio I am about five minutes away.
