Chapter 119 - Chapter 119: Henry’s Scheme

After William's exclamation, Sophie also reacted, "The Holy Grail?"

Landon chuckled and nodded, "Exactly, the Holy Grail." He then dipped his finger in a bit of water and drew two connected triangles of different sizes on the table, exclaiming, "It really does look like a cup!"

Sophie looked at Landon with admiration, while William looked at him like he was a super-student, thinking, "This guy really lives up to his boast of being Harvard's best history and rune professor. His imagination is incredible, and what he says is logical and reasonable. If William didn't clearly know that the Holy Grail had been in the Devonshire family's ancient castle since its construction 270 years ago, he would truly believe the Holy Grail was in the Louvre."

However, a thought quickly struck him: the elders of the Priory of Sion in the Louvre must believe that fake Holy Grail is the real one.

The Holy Grail beneath Rosslyn—Rosslyn sounds like 'Holy Grail' in English. Accompanied by masters—the Louvre certainly has masterworks. Accompanied in dreams, she can rest in peace, gazing at the stars—this line is even easier to explain, because the ground above that inverted pyramid is all glass, so of course you can gaze at the stars. The only difference is that it's not guarded by swords.

William secretly gloated. Henry was very clever to hand over that fake sarcophagus they had guarded for 270 years. Since it was fake, there was no need for swords to guard it.

William, who was secretly delighted, heard Sophie recall, "Landon, now that you mention it, I remember Saunière took me to the glass pyramid when it opened. He even strangely brought a knight's sword and a Damascus blade and hung them by the inverted pyramid."

"I couldn't help but ask him why he brought swords. I remember it very clearly; Saunière was extremely happy at the time because it was the only thing I had said to him in those six months."

"He said they were gifts a friend specially gave him to celebrate the pyramid's completion. Now that I think about it, those two swords seemed to have the Devonshire family crest and the letters 'DWS' engraved on them."

After she finished speaking, Sophie and Landon both looked at William. This made William secretly grumble to himself. Henry really was exactly as Gareth Mallory, the chairman of the UK National Security Committee, had said: he loved to play tricks on people. William was 100% certain that Henry was truly mocking Saunière and the other three elders of the Priory of Sion.

Henry must have been incredibly smug at the time, giving away the fake Holy Grail and the danger that came with it, while the real one remained buried in his own yard.

William rolled his eyes and said, "How would I know that? I was only nine in '89. Do you think my maternal grandfather Henry would tell me why he gave Saunière swords?"

Sophie and Landon thought about it and agreed that William couldn't possibly know the reason, because Henry wouldn't have needed to tell a child like William about it.

Suddenly, William's phone rang. He picked it up and saw an unknown number calling. William immediately stood up, said 'Excuse me' to Sophie and Landon, and walked onto the lawn to answer the call.

"Hello?"

"It's me, William." Carlos's voice came through the phone. "We found the mastermind behind the Guild of Light, but there's an unexpected situation. We didn't just catch the mastermind; we also caught six other board members of the guild. They were discussing sending 20 million US dollars in bearer bonds to someone they call 'Teacher'."

"After we caught these seven people, they offered to settle with you for 100 million US dollars, and even hoped to spend another 200 million US dollars to buy the Holy Grail you have." Carlos paused for a few seconds before saying, "What do we do next?"

"Three hundred million?" William asked in surprise. These guys were really rich.

"Yes."

William fell silent. After thinking for more than ten seconds, a daring idea suddenly came to William's mind. "Get rid of them. Leave no loose ends."

"Okay, no problem."

"Are those twenty million bearer bonds with you?"

"Yes," Carlos said.

"How is Colin performing?"

Carlos thought for a few seconds before saying, "Not bad. Although this guy is greedy for money, he wasn't blinded by that 100 million US dollars. He has potential for cultivation."

"Alright then, have Colin take care of those seven people, then give him 5 million in bearer bonds. Have him learn a few things from you. You take the remaining 15 million. Do it cleanly, Carlos."

"Understood. I'll make it look like a car accident, sending them off a cliff. You can just watch the news later."

"Okay, thank you, Carlos. After you finish the job, go home first. I'll contact you if anything comes up. If you want to bring your child to Oxford, that would be best; I'll make arrangements for you."

This time, Carlos thought for nearly a minute before saying, "I can't go to Oxford yet; I still have some private matters to handle. As for Wesley, let him stay quietly in New York. He's not suited for my line of work. I just want him to get married and have children safely."

Hearing that Carlos's son was named Wesley, William was very happy, but he couldn't press Carlos to bring Wesley to Oxford. That would make Carlos feel uneasy, thinking William was trying to use Wesley to threaten him.

"No problem. If there's danger, send Wesley to England or Switzerland. You have money now, so don't wear such cheap clothes anymore. You can even find a suitable reason to improve Wesley's life."

Hearing William's concern and knowing he had money to improve Wesley's life made Carlos very happy. "Thank you, William. If there's nothing else, I'll start working."

"Okay, call me if anything happens."

"Understood. Bye."

"Bye." William hung up the phone, startled by the idea that had suddenly come to him. It was truly a crazy idea. He paced back and forth on the lawn, constantly thinking about its feasibility. After half an hour of walking, William finally made up his mind to follow his idea. If it succeeded, the Guild of Light would soon become history, and he might gain enormous benefits.

Having made up his mind, William picked up his phone and called Prince Charles. The call connected quickly.

Charles's distinctive magnetic voice came through the earpiece, "Good afternoon, William."

"Good afternoon, Your Royal Highness. I apologize for disturbing you, but I have a very important matter that I need to report to His Majesty Philip in person. Although it's very rude, I hope it can be tonight."

Prince Charles paused in surprise for more than ten seconds. "Is it really, really important? If Philip isn't satisfied, I'm the one who'll suffer."

"Of course, Your Highness, I'm very certain. And I hope the Duke of Devon will join you for this meeting. You'll be very surprised, Your Highness, and I think this meeting will be beneficial to you."

"I'm not sure His Majesty Philip has time to see you, William. Can you tell me what it's about first?"

"You can tell them the Devonshire family formally requested this meeting. They'll be interested, Your Highness. I'll be in London by 5 PM. I hope to hear good news from you. See you in three hours, Your Highness."

"Alright, I hope my father won't be angry that I disturbed his afternoon nap, otherwise, William, I'll come looking for trouble with you."

"No, I believe His Majesty Philip will be very pleased to see me. See you this evening, Your Highness."

"Alright, see you this evening, William."
