Chapter 120 - Chapter 120: A Special Meeting

Prince Charles paused in surprise for more than ten seconds. "Is it really, really important? If Philip isn't satisfied, I'm the one who'll suffer."

"Of course, Your Highness, I'm very certain. And I hope the Duke of Devon will join you for this meeting. You'll be very surprised, Your Highness, and I think this meeting will be beneficial to you."

"I'm not sure His Majesty Philip has time to see you, William. Can you tell me what it's about first?"

"You can tell them the Devonshire family formally requested this meeting. They'll be interested, Your Highness. I'll be in London by 5 PM. I hope to hear good news from you. See you in three hours, Your Highness."

"Alright, I hope my father won't be angry that I disturbed his afternoon nap, otherwise, William, I'll come looking for trouble with you."

"No, I believe His Majesty Philip will be very pleased to see me. See you this evening, Your Highness."

"Alright, see you this evening, William."

Chapter 121: A Special Meeting

After hanging up the phone, William walked over to Sophie and Langdon and said apologetically, "I have to go. There are some things I need to handle. I hope to attend your wedding the next time we meet, preferably with your children, my godchildren. That would be very interesting."

"Get lost, William! We're not having children before marriage," Sophie cursed playfully.

Langdon, however, asked with a worried expression, "Did something happen? Is it related to us? William, please tell Sophie and me. I don't want anything to happen to Sophie."

Sophie immediately looked at William nervously after hearing that.

William thought that if he could keep these two together for a long time, perhaps they really would have children by the next time they met.

So, William feigned difficulty and said seriously, "Something did happen. My people found out that the Priory of Sion prepared 20 million US dollars to give to Teabing. Although they don't know Teabing is dead yet, you can imagine that the Priory won't give up searching for the Holy Grail and Sophie. So, I hope you two can hide in Ireland for a while, and we'll see what happens after I deal with the Priory."

Sophie and Langdon had personally experienced Teabing's murders and the madness of the white-haired fanatic from the Priory of Sion. Both were now very afraid of the Priory and quickly nodded in agreement to William's words.

William was glad they listened to him. It seemed that to deal with these 'saintly' types, he had to use their own safety to scare them, and not give them a chance to blather on.

William called the hotel he was staying at and booked a small private jet directly to London. At 4 PM, as soon as William landed, a special car from the London Four Seasons Hotel was waiting for him at the airport. After getting in, William instructed the driver to head to Kensington.

At 4:30 PM, outside Kensington Palace, he met Prince Wilson, who was waiting for him. The two hadn't seen each other for many days. Wilson hugged William and said, "William, are you really going to see my grandfather? He really dislikes being disturbed."

William smiled at Wilson, who looked concerned, and said, "It's alright. I really have something very important to see His Majesty Philip about. Nothing will go wrong."

Seeing William's confident expression, Wilson stopped worrying. "Let's go. Get in my car, I'll take you to Buckingham Palace."

"Okay, thank you, Wilson."

"You're welcome, we're friends, William." The two chatted happily in the car as they headed to Buckingham Palace.

It took less than 20 minutes to reach Buckingham Palace. William, carrying a wooden box, and Wilson, led by guards, passed through two security checks before being led into a palace by an elderly man who looked like a butler. After waiting a few minutes outside the door, William and Wilson were informed they could enter.

King Philip, Prince Charles, and the Duke of Devon were waiting for William in a reception room.

After entering, Wilson greeted King Philip, Prince Charles, and the Duke of Devon, then discreetly walked out.

King Philip was an octogenarian, but perhaps due to regular exercise and good maintenance, he looked energetic. He was wearing a black everyday suit, his hair meticulously combed, and his eyes were bright. Upon seeing William, he rose with a hearty laugh.

William quickly approached and, following the butler's instructions, performed an unfamiliar court bow and greeted King Philip. King Philip smiled and extended his hand to shake William's.

"Alright, young man of the Devonshire family, I now officially permit you not to use court etiquette when you see me next time. Just as Baron Hunt doesn't need to remove his hat when seeing the King of England, this can be considered a unique privilege for your Devonshire Earl family."

Philip's words made the Duke of Devon and Prince Charles burst into laughter. Both were quite helpless about William's ignorance of aristocratic etiquette. William was so rich that he could certainly find a suitable etiquette teacher if he wanted to.

But William's performance today showed that he didn't care about aristocratic etiquette at all, even seemingly indifferent to the title of Earl.

The trio's mockery made William a little helpless. He really didn't want to live such a tiring life. The rules of the aristocracy were simply too numerous. There were etiquette requirements for dining, speaking, dressing, going out, walking, and riding in a car. There were even requirements for what brand of shower gel to use when bathing. God, just thinking about it made William feel tired.

I'll just be my rich self, and forget the rest. After the three finished laughing, the Duke of Devon walked over to William and hugged him, then patted William firmly on the shoulder a few times. "Henry would be very happy if he knew about your achievements now. Excellent, welcome back to our big family. I hope you'll have time to visit Devon."

William smiled and nodded.

"Okay, Your Grace, I will definitely visit you when I have time. Thank you for your support last time. My mother often tells me about your past with Grandfather Henry."

"Oh, William, shouldn't you call me grandfather? I am your true grandfather."

William looked at the Duke of Devon, who was feigning anger, and grumbled inwardly, "Damn grandfather! When my mother and I were poor and destitute, why didn't you come to me and say you were my grandfather? Isn't it only because you saw I was rich and could inherit the earldom that you jumped out to show goodwill?"

However, William wouldn't be foolish enough to say it out loud. That's just how people are, fawning over the powerful and trampling on the weak is human nature. "Alright, Grandfather, it's good to see you."

The Duke then laughed heartily. "Very good, remember to visit my estate often."

As for Prince Charles, William simply shook his hand and greeted him. After all, their relationship had been quite good since they teamed up to put on a show for the paparazzi. Otherwise, William wouldn't have called Prince Charles as soon as he thought about seeing King Philip.

After the butler brought coffee and snacks with the servants, the four of them drank afternoon tea and chatted idly for a long time before King Philip finally spoke, "Alright, William, it's time to tell us why you were so eager to see the three of us."

William feigned hesitation, looking around and then at Prince Charles. Prince Charles immediately understood William's meaning. "Don't worry, this is the palace. There are special anti-eavesdropping devices. It's very safe."

In fact, William had already scanned the room with his mental power during afternoon tea. But the reality was not as Prince Charles said; there were indeed listening devices. On the contrary, there were many hidden cameras and listening devices here.

After all, this was William's first time meeting King Philip, and the royal family wasn't as trusting of William as he might have imagined. His every move was certainly being watched by many royal guards. William believed that if he made any unusual move, the guards waiting outside several doors would immediately rush in.

William shook his head at Prince Charles. "I apologize, Your Highness, what I am about to say is very, very important, and only the four of us can hear it. Henry didn't teach me much else, but he taught me everything about special services. So I am very sorry, I cannot say it here."

King Philip, Prince Charles, and the Duke of Devon looked at William, who spoke so directly, in surprise. King Philip and the Duke of Devon exchanged glances, tacitly wondering if it was related to the secret that the Devonshire family had always guarded?

How could this young William be willing to reveal the fundamental secret of his family's survival? There must be something amiss here.
