Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: This Mission is Too Complex, You Can’t Grasp It

"Alas… there's really nothing I can do."

Watching the listless Yuhi Kurenai and Sarutobi Asuma, Yuhi Shinku sighed helplessly.

"Let's go to the mission hall today and see if there are any suitable C-rank missions."

"Huh?!"

"Really?!"

Sarutobi Asuma and Kurenai both froze in surprise. Could it be that they were finally moving on to C-rank missions?

Unlike D-level tasks, C-rank missions offered higher rewards and significantly higher danger. Guarding, subjugating wild beasts, escorting confidential documents—some might even involve life-or-death combat.

"Let's go," Mirai said calmly. Yuhi Shinku's shoulders relaxed slightly. He had feared the future Uchiha might be a headache, but Mirai was the least troublesome member of the team. He felt fortunate to have such an outstanding student.

The group arrived at the bustling mission hall. With the ninja world increasingly unstable, Konoha's mission volume had skyrocketed.

"Hello. Please see if there are any C-rank missions suitable for our team," Yuhi Shinku said directly at the task window.

The staff member smiled warmly. "Shinku-jonin. Please wait a moment."

Soon, a task list was produced.

"In the northern part of the Land of Fire, a small town has requested assistance. A group of bandits has been causing trouble nearby."

Yuhi Shinku quickly scanned the details and nodded. "Very well."

Just then, Uchiha Obito dashed over. "Hey! Didn't you just say there were no missions for us? Why not give us the bandit-eradication mission?"

The staff waved him off impatiently. "Mission assignments are carefully evaluated. If you're unsatisfied, don't accept it."

"What?! You bastard!" Obito shouted.

Mirai sighed lightly. The law of the jungle prevails. The stronger take better resources. Besides cheating, inheritance and rank matter most in this world.

"Obito, maybe your team isn't strong enough for this mission," Asuma said with a sense of superiority. "Once you improve, you'll be able to take it on."

"Snort! You're just bragging because you're the Hokage's son!" Obito shot back, hitting Asuma's sore spots.

"What? You want to fight, loser?" Asuma retorted.

"Hit me if you dare!" Obito yelled.

Before the situation escalated, Namikaze Minato and Nohara Rin intervened.

"Shinku-senpai, sorry! Obito's reckless. I'll teach him a lesson," Minato said apologetically.

Rin grabbed Obito by the ear. "I told you not to cause trouble!"

"Ah, it hurts~" Obito whimpered. Facing Rin, he had no temper at all.

"Idiot," Kakashi muttered. I don't know why a brilliant ninja like Minato would choose someone like Obito.

Obito's anger reignited. "Because of your lifeless attitude, we're stuck with missions like 'The widow afraid of thunder wants nighttime guards'!"

A man in green tights with a beard approached. "Um… are you planning to take the mission to eliminate bandits?"

Mirai's mind shifted. Might Dai… that iconic outfit… it has to be him.

Obito asked eagerly, "Yes! What's the catch?"

Might Dai smiled. "Coincidentally, I have a suitable task for exchange."

"Really?" Obito's eyes sparkled.

"Of course. Your mission is too complex for you. Only a ninja with battlefield experience like me can complete it perfectly."

Minato nodded slightly, agreeing with the exchange. C-rank bandit missions were a safe way for new Genin to experience combat without extreme risk.

Obito eagerly swapped task lists. "Uncle, you're the best! I'll make sure we become friends."

With Obito and team off, Might Dai turned to Mirai. "You're Uchiha Mirai, right? Guy often mentions you. He considers you his lifelong rival."

Mirai said lightly, "Kakashi would be a more suitable target for Guy."

Might Dai grinned. "If I can't even surpass Kakashi, I have no right to challenge you?"

"Just thinking about it… this is youth!" Might Dai said. "I'll pass your message to Guy."

Mirai's mouth twitched. That… was a strange compliment.

Asuma muttered, "Is this the legendary ten-thousand-year-old Genin? He seems… silly."

"Never underestimate anyone," Yuhi Shinku warned, sensing a dangerous aura from Might Dai.

Asuma crossed his arms. "I'm just stating the truth. He's still a Genin. What's so special about him?"

Shinku turned to Mirai.

Mirai nodded calmly. "Ignorance is not a ninja's obstacle. Arrogance is."
