Konoha Village – Outer Open Space above the Hokage Rock
Yuhi Shinku, Uchiha Mirai, Sarutobi Asuma, and Yuhi Kurenai sat cross-legged on the ground. A gentle breeze rustled past.
Yuhi Shinku spoke slowly, "I am your guiding Jonin, Yuhi Shinku—skilled in illusion techniques. Please give me your full cooperation."
Then, extending her hands, she said, "Now, introduce yourselves."
"Ahem! My name is Sarutobi Asuma," he began, puffing up his chest. "I'm proficient in Fire and Wind Style. My favorite foods are sausages and yam cold noodles. I'm also very interested in shogi. What I hate most is being called 'the Hokage's son.' My goal is to surpass my father and make a name for myself. Also… I hope to spend every day with the girl I like."
Asuma gave his introduction seriously—after all, he had to impress Yuhi Shinku.
"Nice introduction," Yuhi Shinku smiled and clapped. "Asuma, you're still young. Smoke less, or it'll affect your health."
Asuma's face turned slightly panicked. Even after a shower, they noticed? I hope this doesn't hurt my impression score.
"My name is Yuhi Kurenai," Kurenai said. "I'm skilled in illusion. My favorite thing is training with some annoying guy, and my favorite food is food cooked by some annoying guy. The most annoying thing is being pestered. My goal is to become a ninja as skilled as my father."
Yuhi Shinku's eyes twitched. Why does Asuma seem like he's about to go autistic?
"I am Uchiha Mirai," he said simply. "There are many things I like, and just as many I dislike. I'm skilled in swordsmanship and illusions. My goal is to protect everything I hold dear."
Short and precise. Yuhi Shinku silently sighed but wasn't surprised—Uchiha were never one for long speeches.
"I've carefully observed your strength during the graduation exam. Uchiha Mirai, you will be the team captain for now. While I'm away, follow your orders," Yuhi Shinku arranged.
Asuma nodded reluctantly.
"To celebrate the establishment of Team Shinku, I'll treat everyone to barbecue today," Yuhi Shinku announced with a smile, waving her hand as she walked toward the village. Uchiha Mirai, Kurenai Yuhi, and Asuma followed.
Kurenai ran alongside Mirai. "Hey, what I said earlier was just to make Asuma give up. Don't take it seriously."
"I know, I know," Mirai waved. Standard tsundere behavior. Understood.
"Snort!" Kurenai pouted and raised her hand to swat Mirai's arm.
Watching them, Asuma felt his heart break. Why does a bastard like Uchiha Mirai have to be on the same team as me?
Later, on a Mission
"Fifty meters ahead, target spotted!"
"Roger. Number 2 is in position."
"Number 3 is in position."
"Roger!"
Three dark figures emerged from the shadows. The orange cat basking in the sun shrieked loudly.
"Are you scared? Don't worry, we won't hurt you," Kurenai said, stroking its fur.
Mirai and Asuma flanked her as usual.
Yuhi Shinku walked over with a smile. "Good, everyone is improving their cooperation. After the task, barbecue is waiting."
"Father, can we try something a little more challenging?" Kurenai's tone was slightly whiny.
It had been a month since their graduation, and their missions had been simple D-level tasks—finding lost cats and dogs, cleaning up trash, or caring for children. Far from the thrilling ninja missions they'd imagined.
"Yes, Shinku. With our abilities, these tasks feel like a waste of time," Asuma added immediately.
"What about you, Mirai?" Yuhi Shinku asked.
Mirai paused briefly. "Take every task seriously. It's not about chasing difficulty blindly—the key is accumulating experience continuously."
He wasn't bored at all. With his system, his strength grew daily. Low-level tasks kept him safe during the early development period.
A translucent panel only he could see appeared before his eyes:
[Name: Uchiha Mirai]
[Constitution: 37]
[Spiritual Power: 33]
[Chakra: 26]
[Kekkei Genkai: Sharingan]
[Ninjutsu: …Magic·Tree Binding Kill, Earth Escape·Earth Flowing Wall]
[Other:...]
In just one month, Mirai's stats had skyrocketed. Constitution up by 11 points, mental strength up by 8, chakra up by 9, approaching the level of an average elite Chunin. Growth this rapid was abnormal.
Mirai remained calm, his mind serene.
"Mirai, your thinking is correct. With this mindset, you will become an excellent ninja," Yuhi Shinku praised.
He had expected Mirai, as an Uchiha, to be impatient with boring tasks—but he had proven the opposite. Clearly, Kurenai's favorable impression wasn't just about looks.
"Hateful…"
Asuma clenched his fists. Damn it. I'm beaten again. Since becoming teammates with Uchiha Mirai, every day feels like I'm being crushed.
When will this misery end?
