Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Blade of Justice

Delianna was right. After reading "The Secret of Troll Regeneration," Archmage Aieria Bluemoonimmediately asked Delianna, "Have you verified all the steps?"

"I conducted three experiments, and the conclusions were identical to those in the paper."

Aieria pointed at the paper: "What are these experimental instruments mentioned?"

"Gale made them himself. He used quartz sand to create a transparent substance called glass. A slide is a thin, rectangular piece of glass, and a microscope is a magnifying instrument made of multiple convex lenses combined, capable of observing very microscopic things. Cells are biological individuals discovered with a microscope; the panels, flesh, and other bodily tissues of living organisms are all composed of cells…"

Hearing Delianna's explanation, Aieria nodded slightly. Although she couldn't imagine what these experimental tools and cells looked like, she trusted that Delianna wouldn't deceive her. "You and I will go see Prince Farodis together, and then we will re-verify it. Dealing with trolls is the empire's top priority, and there can be no mistakes."

Delianna nodded in understanding. If Gale's paper were incorrect, it would affect the reputation of the entire Nathalas Academy. At that point, not only would Gale's future be ruined, but she and Aieria would also be held accountable, Prince Farodis would be attacked by political enemies, and all the students of Nasalas would be implicated.

This matter could not be treated with too much caution.

After reading the paper, Prince Farodis's reaction was the same as Archmage Aieria's; he immediately asked about the verification results.

After Delianna repeated what she had told Archmage Aieria, Prince Farodis finally relaxed. "How about you both come with me to meet this talented student?"

Although it was a question, his tone was filled with unquestionable authority.

Gale had met Prince Farodis before; the Prince often appeared in classes to teach the apprentices. His spellcasting insights were profound and very forward-looking, guiding the apprentices to develop correct spellcasting habits.

"Welcome, esteemed Prince!"

Gale gave a playful court bow.

Prince Farodis helped him up and teased, "My brother, it seems you are ready to become a Royal Mage."

The title of Prince was not due to blood relation but political status, much like the enfeoffment of kings with different surnames in our ancient times.

Kaldorei have very long lifespans, and many have lived since ancient, unenlightened times. Because of the small population and the confusion of ages, people would refer to those outside their own family as 'brother.'

You couldn't tell how old someone else was, so you wouldn't easily try to establish seniority.

Of course, not all Kaldorei would use such a title; the nobles of Sin'dorei considered themselves superior and would not call commoners 'brother.'

This made Prince Farodis appear approachable.

After a few casual remarks, Prince Farodis explained his purpose. Gale introduced him to the use of the microscope, and Prince Farodis personally took a piece of flesh from a troll for experimentation. The experiment was not complicated; Prince Farodis tried it dozens of times, testing various parts of the troll's body. Seeing that the experimental results did not change, he said with satisfaction, "Brother, I will recommend you to Queen Azshara."

Gale smiled faintly: "Let's not rush that; I'm more interested in quickly forging weapons to deal with the trolls."

Prince Farodis readily agreed, "The Academy will fully support you. You can apply to Archmage Aieria for any materials you need."

Gale pulled out a list of materials, and Prince Farodislaughed, "It seems you're already prepared."

"I like to plan ahead."

Aieria Bluemoon took the material list and said in surprise, "Do you need so many types of materials?"

Prince Farodis leaned over and was also surprised. The material list contained all known metals, and although the quantities weren't large, it still filled the entire page.

Gale explained, "Carbon ore, though hard, is very brittle and not suitable for weapon manufacturing. I need these metals to alloy with carbon ore."

Alloy, this was not a new word. Mages often used thorium added to different metals to create various alloys.

Although Prince Farodis understood the principle, professional matters were best left to professionals. "Do as you say; I only want to see the results."

Aieria nodded, "I'll have them prepared right away."

Gale said, "I also need Sethonis to be my assistant, and I'll need the help of some blacksmiths."

"No problem, I'll coordinate it!" Prince Farodis readily agreed.

Soon, Sethonis reported for duty. In less than three days, all the materials and blacksmiths he needed were in place.

With Sethonis's help, Gale conducted a large number of alloy ratio experiments daily. After a month, he finally found over a dozen alloy formulas that did not weaken the inhibitory properties of carbon ore.

After filtering for conditions such as hardness, toughness, and magical conductivity, four formulas remained. Finally, two were selected based on cost-effectiveness: one for standard equipment, using a 2:8 carbon-bronze alloy, and another for high-tier equipment, using a 2:7:1 carbon-refined iron-adamantite alloy.

With the formulas, weapon crafting began.

Whether the carbon-bronze alloy or the carbon-refined iron-adamantite alloy, the weapons forged from them were golden, which gave Gale a familiar feeling.

It was as if they resembled equipment from a certain game.

"Let's call them Sanction Sword and Sanction Blade!"

Sethonis had no objections and, using a quill, changed the words "Experimental Weapons" on the report's title to "Sanction Blade."

After indulging his mischievous side, Gale began to focus on the finished products.

The Sanction Sword forged from carbon-bronze alloy had poor magical conductivity. After some research, it was decided to only enchant it with the characteristic rune set discovered by Sethonis. After enchantment, the cost of the entire sword reached 80 silver coins, making it very suitable for mass production and army equipping.

Experiments by Prince Farodis's guard showed that the Sanction Sword increased the lethality against trolls by at least three times. Qualified warriors equipped with it had the potential to kill trolls.

Do not underestimate this possibility; currently, less than 10% of warriors in the Kaldorei Empire can kill trolls alone, and the remaining 90% do not possess the ability to kill trolls individually. With this possibility, the combat effectiveness of the Kaldorei Empire's army would greatly increase.

The Sanction Blade forged from carbon-refined iron-adamantite alloy had slightly better magical conductivity and could be enchanted with one more rune. Gale and Sethonis researched it and decided to enchant it with a Blazing Rune. Fire was also a powerful weapon against trolls, and among the many Fire Elemental runes, only the Blazing Rune met the conditions; its power was sufficient to prevent troll wounds from self-healing without destroying the sword's inherent properties.

Due to the expensive forging materials, the cost of a Sanction Blade was as high as 5.6 gold coins, making it suitable only for small-batch production, equipping generals and elite soldiers to make it easier for them to kill trolls.

After inspection, Prince Farodis was very satisfied with both weapons, and even more so with Gale's design plan, which was incredibly comprehensive.

The Prince took the two swords and personally went to Sin'dorei to report.
