Chapter 19 - Ember and Resolute

The final mission arrived without warning: a villain cell in the industrial district had seized control of a chemical plant—threatening a catastrophic leak that could devastate thousands of lives. All Class 1-A and pro heroes were mobilized. Y/N hobbled onto the field with a reinforced leg brace, quirk humming low in their veins. Bakugo didn't leave her side.

Aizawa's voice crackled through comms: "Split into assault and rescue teams. Y/N, you're leading rescue. Bakugo, you're on assault. Stay linked. Go."

Y/N pressed a hand to their quirk control collar. "Link established."

Bakugo's reply was immediate. "Ready."

The plant loomed before them—smoke billowing, lights flickering. Explosions echoed in the distance. Y/N's team stormed the loading docks, guiding trapped workers through collapsing corridors. Their resonance held steel beams for seconds that felt like lifetimes. Each pulse cost them energy, but failure wasn't an option.

Meanwhile, Bakugo's squad forced entry to the control room. The villain commander—ice and metal weaving into a living fortress—met them with a storm of shards. Bakugo unleashed a barrage of heat blasts, carving through defenses. Y/N's comm crackled: "Status?"

"I'm close!" he barked.

Y/N cleared a path through the labyrinth of pipes, calling out directions with calm authority. "Left three o'clock! Then straight!"

Rescue and assault converged in the reactor chamber. The villain device—a reactor core hijacked to amplify quirk energy—hummed a deadly tune. Y/N's quirk oscillated the metal supports, while Bakugo's explosions decimated the outer shell. Sparks flew. Metal groaned.

Then the core overloaded, energy surging.

Y/N surged forward and locked eyes with Bakugo. "Now!" they shouted.

He unleashed the fiercest blast they'd ever seen—white incandescent fury channeled with surgical precision. Y/N's resonance rippled through the quake, absorbing the backlash. The core imploded, sucking the energy inward until nothing remained but dust.

Silence.

And then applause—muffled through the comms but unmistakable in every beating heart.

Y/N collapsed to one knee, quirk spent. Bakugo caught them, sweeping them into a fierce embrace.

"You did it," he whispered.

"We did it," Y/N corrected.

They rose, leaning on each other as pro heroes and classmates filed in, cheering. Aizawa appeared at the entrance, eyes unreadable. He nodded once, crisp. "Well done."

Under the cold glow of emergency lights, Bakugo brushed sweat and soot from Y/N's face. "I love you," he said, voice fierce and tender.

Y/N smiled, spite of exhaustion. "I love you too."

They faced the town square—broadcast crews, flashing cameras, grateful survivors. No more illusions. No more secrets. Just two heroes forged in fire and love, resolute and unbreakable.

The world had watched them rise from sparks to stardust.

Now it would watch them shine.

(The end... or is it)
