Her lips moved but no words came out.
The woman on the panel leaned forward, fingers tightening around the pen in her hand. For a moment, it seemed she might speak, but nothing left her mouth. Her eyes flickered with something , maybe hesitation, pity, or compassion.
Beside her, the man exhaled sharply, as though the performance had wasted his time. His gaze cut across the stage like a blade, dismissive and mocking.
On stage, I stood frozen, breathless from my routine. I had given everything , every step and every spin. The echo of my movements still lingered in the silent hall, but the silence was louder than applause.
Some girls were laughing, and my heart pounded. Was it ridicule in the man's eyes? Was it pity in the woman's? I couldn't tell.
All I knew was that once again, the stage had swallowed me whole and left me with nothing.
