There was no place to argue when my husband would not even look at me .
The whole ride back was hauntingly quiet except that one time Liam was calling another driver to pick Jewel up from her school .
We did not go back to the place where just two of just lived . Instead it was the penthouse Andersons had purchased after they rose in the business world .
It was in middle of Calcut , our capital, probably at cost of trillions of dollars .
The whole building was owned by my husband's family . The first ten floors work as a office and a resturant that worked personally for their daily needs . Unless you did a special reservation from acknowledgement from the chairwoman, you would not be even allowed to take a step inside .
The workers also lived there and with the garage , food storage and apartments for secretaries , it was a place that was buzzing twenty four hours a day .
The five floors served as a secondary meeting room and office for the Chairwoman and her two secretaries . It was also where there was a dance practice room and a studio for the honor of Liam's career that Mrs. Anderson hated to the core .
The next seven floors had multiple purpose like party rooms , some hangout place from the the siblings to call their friends . There was indoor pool , gaming room and also guest room if someone planned to stay overnight.
The next five floors had Anderson's personal gym floor , swimming pool floor , their seperate breakfast dining place , sauna floor , massage centre and yoga centre where staffs stay twenty four seven to serve the Andersons whenever they came .
The next three floors served as temporary stations for the security team of the Sunshine Corporation .
There were two security post like like , one at the ground floor and other like this in the middle of the building . So if you were a outsider you would get searched twice on your way up .
Next there was a Library for two floors and then again a study floor - irony was Mrs. Anderson had spent so much money on the education of her children , who did not show single interest in academic achievement..
The Andersons each had their personal five floors . So technically,each of them had their own penthouse in the building.
The most upper five floors had helicopter pad and a hangar , another parking lot , a first-aid and security post and a garden of vegetables growing under artificial lights.
It was almost a small kingdom owned by the Anderons .
No wonder Mrs. Anderson hated Liam living in that ' tiny ' country side house with me , leaving the palace that was in the middle of the capital .
As we entered the building , I realised that the security was more on alert than the last time I had visited ..
The stations checks were now harsher on the workers. I wondered if somthing had happened there .
We took the long painful elevator ride which played the song ' Die by tomorrow.' Had my marital relationship has been better , I would have asked Liam , to change it .
Chairman was waiting for us at the meeting room.
As soon as we got into the periphery , she rushed towards us and slapped Liam on his face .
The force of the slap broke his lips . It was difficult for me to hold on the urge to grip his face between my palms to protect him.
" I never said anything to you when you left to become a career , I never said anything to you when you randomly got married to a nobody like this . But this , Liam Anderson THIS ! -"
There was a conversation that I had missed .
" I told you that it will work , didn't I ? ," Liam looked at his mother ,with eyes that could freeze the air ," Look now , he is already showing his hands ."
The chairwoman went to hit her son again but stopped at midway and then she was throwing away everything around her . The glass vases , papers stacks , the chair .
I took a step back . The chairwoman was a calculating woman . I had never seen her have a mental breakdown .
Infact ,I had never seen anyone having such violent mental breakdown .
The chairwoman finally looked up , with angry years rolling down her cheeks ," Must you make me suffer like this ? "
" Whatever it takes to protect you ," Liam answered ," I would do anything and everything."
" AT WHAT PRICE?!!," the chairwoman wailed ," LOOK AT YOU! Look at your wife who now had the whole public knowing how she was treated like an animal ! Do you think that people will ever look at in her in a different way ? Your consequence of your action had left a stigma on her life , and YOU ! YOU ! How can you go on living after it all ends ? How can you even breath when even I want to kill myself !"
" I did not expect him to find about Julia ," he looked down ," That was my mistake and I will take responsibility of it ..And for me , I will survive in any way . I always have had , mother . You know it ."
" No !," Chairwoman shook her head ," You - you all are going abroad . I don't care what happens to the company but you must leave !"
" But he will find us again ," Liam went to grab her hand ," You know it , mother . He always had . I would rather face him upfront like this ."
" Can't you stop being a little less selfish ?," the chairwoman choked on her words .
Liam shook his head ," I am sorry , mother . I did not want you to find out like this ."
" Does your wife know about it ?," Mrs. Anderson asked without looking at me .
I could see the horror in Liam's eyes ," She doesn't need to get into the mess of it ."
" Now that you have managed to ruin her life like this , she deserves to have an explanation, Liam ."
" If we are going to talk about it , then I would rather take them away ."
" Your selfishness and secrets have already done a lot of damage ," chairwoman approached Liam slowly ," Listen ,they need to know so they can be cautious. They have a right to decide what to do after knowing the whole story ."
" But -"
" Liam.. you have tried enough but it is time to give your wife the choices and the answers ."
Liam's mouth twisted in a bitter smile ," So you can ruin one thing I hold dear ? "
" So I can protect what you hold dear ," Mrs. Anderson urged ," She is not a child , Liam . She is a person of her own. And you need to let her decide this time ."
From their faces , I could already guess that it was not going to be a pleasant story
