James A. Garfield High School basketball team coach is Floyd.
Coach Floyd had rarely spoken to Edward formally since Garfield High School was eliminated in the Washington State Championships season 2004-2005.
After all, he is about to graduate, and the team's future and development has nothing to do with him because there is no competition to play with.
Therefore, every time Coach Floyd contacted him, it was about his college selection.
...
He didn't spend a penny from his family to study at James A. Garfield High School, because his deceased parents.
How? Well, after they died in 9/11 in New York, the company that his dad and mom work for is giving a full scholarship high school for Edward.
'I guess, that's the perks of having family members that work in a good company,' he thought.
Although he is from New York, he is just an ordinary New York born person.
His family could not afford the high cost of tens of thousands of dollars a year for him to study in a private school in the United States. It is a lifesaving to receive the scholarship from that company.
So, his grandfather chose James A. Garfield High School for Edward school. After he brought Edward to Seattle, where Edward continued his study and using the full scholarship from the company that his parents work for. And his grandfather's house is in Seattle too, just a 30 minutes' drive from this school.
His study at Garfield High School, which did not cost him any money, because the school has free daily meals, free access to the gym, swimming pool, and he didn't spend any for daily transportation.
His grandfather is a retired military man in his 60s, he lives just enough from the pension he gets, but not much.
Therefore, Edward still needs a scholarship to go to college and join the NCAA, preferably a full sports scholarship.
However, it is not easy to get a full scholarship in American universities, especially good ones.
Currently, the only prestigious universities willing to offer him a full scholarship are the University of Arizona and the University of Washington.
Coach Floyd is also worried about Edward choosing between the two universities.
Floyd was his high school coach. According to the living habits in the United States, not only high school coaches, but even parents rarely interfere with their children's choices, only giving recommendations or suggestions.
What's more, Coach Floyd's constant telling him about the benefits of the University of Washington would definitely make people suspect that he had accepted benefits from the University of Washington.
However, Edward knew that Coach Floyd was doing this for his own good.
In Coach Floyd's mind, Edward's basketball career was good but not enough to make it to the NBA superstar. He thinks Edward needs to consider his future life if his basketball career goes down, he can still be a substitute player.
Compared with the University of Arizona, which ranks around 100 in the United States, the University of Washington, which has always ranked in the top 20 and even frequently enters the top 10, is naturally a better choice.
What's more, Seattle, the city that University of Washington is in, was a big city with many headquarters of large companies.
With Edward fame and connections in Seattle, he had no problem entering a large local company after graduating from the University of Washington.
By then, he will have a stable life, maybe a luxurious house, with a beautiful wife, and his life will be complete.
Therefore, to a normal person's choice, the University of Washington would definitely be better than the University of Arizona.
But Floyd was always worried that Edward would make abnormal choices.
Because after Garfield High School was eliminated in the Washington State Championship, Edward still continued to train hard in his physical body and basketball.
Edward seems to have no intention of giving up his basketball career.
In addition, Edward went to watch the University of Washington game with Martell Webster yesterday, and Coach Floyd saw that Edward left without saying goodbye to Brandon Roy and the others.
Floyd believed that these signs indicated that Edward was ready to accept the invitation from the University of Arizona.
Both the University of Arizona and the University of Washington were willing to offer him full scholarships.
But the University of Arizona give promise that as long as Edward joined the team, he would be the team's starting guard and the core of the outside line that would be trained with emphasis.
The University of Washington makes no such promise.
The University of Washington has been brimming with talent in recent years, with Nate Robinson, Brandon Roy and Will Conroy on the back line.
All three are juniors now, and they will be seniors next year and are the key to the University of Washington's ambitions.
Not to mention, even Washington State's top guard Rodney Stuckey can't compete with them.
You know, Stuckey defeated and eliminated Edward directly in this year's Washington state competition.
Even someone as talented as Stuckey wouldn't dare come to the University of Washington to compete with them.
Not long ago, Stuckey announced that he would join another university in Washington State, Eastern Washington University.
Coach Floyd knew very clearly about Stuckey's strength.
In his sophomore, junior, and even senior year not long ago, Stuckey was an insurmountable mountain standing in front of Edward.
Stuckey has better skills and stronger strength than him. Even Edward's most proud speed, Stuckey can still beat him.
Even the incredibly powerful Stuckey didn't dare go to the University of Washington to compete with Nate Robinson, Brandon Roy, and Conroy for the starting position.
How could Edward possibly compete with these three people?
If Edward wants to perform well in college, get good statistics, and continue to move forward on the basketball path. The University of Arizona is indeed a better choice.
Of course, that was Edward's best option before today, as his basketball talent had been good but not enough to be a main player for University of Washington.
As for now that Edward has 'system'.
After Coach Floyd's earnest persuasion, Edward "changed" his mind.
Under the supervision of Coach Floyd, Edward took out his cell phone and called Lorenzo Romar, the head coach of the University of Washington.
Edward promises that he will accept to join the University of Washington.
Lorenzo Romar was very happy to get Edward's promise.
And Floyd was also very pleased.
So, after Edward confirmed that he would join the University of Washington, the happy Floyd directly and happily invited Edward to visit his home.
Not long after Edward and Floyd arrived at Floyd's home, Cameron Dollar, an assistant coach at the University of Washington is coming and sent him a letter of intent from the University of Washington.
"Edward, congratulations on joining the University of Washington. We already prepared this letter of intent long before you promised to join. Lorenzo originally wanted to come in person, but he is currently preparing for the next crucial game against UCLA and is in Los Angeles."
Cameron was excited, and he had reason to be.
Because the University of Washington has a trident of guards, capable high school guards like Edward are unwilling to come to the University of Washington.
If Brandon Roy is completely healthy, three guards are enough in the NCAA, but Roy's meniscus is torn in both knees, so he was advised and can only play maximum 25 minutes per game.
With Roy and the other three in University of Washington, other capable defenders are unwilling to come, and because of Roy's hidden injury risks, the team's defense line cannot be completely reassuring.
The helplessness of the University of Washington in not being able to find anyone was perfectly resolved by Edward's decision.
Because of the arrival of Edward and Cameron, Floyd and his wife prepared the most sumptuous celebratory evening lunch for them.
During this period, Edward also received congratulations from Brandon Roy, Will Conroy, Anthony Washington. and Tre Simmons, former James A. Garfield High School seniors who are now studying at the University of Washington.
Of course, there are also complaints from his good friend Martell Webster.
"Edward, come on dude... why you're not telling me about joining University of Washington?" Webster complained when he calls Edward.
"I'm sorry dude, this decision is really spontaneous, you know my coach is persuading me every day to join University of Washington. So, today i just decided that." Edward explained.
Of course, that's not the actual reason. His newly arrival 'system' is his major reason to join UW, but he won't tell anyone about his golden finger. And Edward confident that he can perform and have more playtime in UW Huskies basketball team.
Edward knows joining the University of Washington was indeed an unexpected and sudden move, so he understands Webster's reaction.
After leaving Coach Floyd's house after having a celebratory dinner, Edward called his grandfather and told him that he was about to join the University of Washington.
"Grandpa John, I have decided to join the University of Washington after graduation," Edward said.
"Well, Congratulations kid, University of Washington is a good university. You can have more experience about life, maybe even finding a girlfriend there." John answered calmly but there is a hint of pride in his tone.
And quickly added, "but remember, don't slack off on your physical training! Because your physical body is important for your life, it doesn't matter if you play basketball or not!"
"Yes sir! you know i am your 'trained' grandson... Anyway, stay healthy grandpa, love you!" Edward said, and he could tell that his grandfather on the phone was very happy.
...
The University of Washington is a world-class university.
After dealing with the aftermath of the school selection, Edward went back to his room in the dormitory, changing to his blue basketball training sleeveless shirt and shorts. He put on his basketball shoes, the Nike Air Jordan and went to the training hall.
"No one is here, I guess it is private training for me then…" Edward shrugged.
This evening Edward focused to train his basketball ability panel, because currently his three-pointer was the lowest ability panel he had alongside passing with only 40. But because no one is here, passing training is off the table, so he went for two hour three-pointer drill training.
"Huh… huh… huh..." Edward's trying to control his breathing after the 2 hour three-point intense training.
With Edward's future knowledge, he knew the best three-point drill to train. His knowledge and self-discipline in this training bore fruit after two hours. His three=pointer ability panel rose from 40 to 45.
"More than 10% rise, very nice!"
Satisfied with this, Edward rested for a while on the sideline and checked his cell phone. Seeing no message and calls, Edward checks his bank account from phone to see how much money he has.
"So, I have $30,065 cash in the bank," Edward smiled.
This money was inherited from his parent's bank account after deducting the tax.
"Alright, time for dinner… I am hungry,"
