The vampire knight who had brought them there immediately unlocked the cell. The heavy iron door creaked open.
Aira remained frozen in place. She looked at the open door. Then at the vampire knights waiting outside. Then at Lucien.
Her heart sank.
This definitely isn't good.
"Where are you taking us?"
Lucien turned around.
"Don't ask questions, old man. Just follow me quietly." His crimson eyes narrowed. "I have questions, and I want confirmation for myself. You and your cat are the only ones who can give me the answers."
Aira swallowed.
"Can't you just ask them here?"
"No." Lucien's answer was immediate. "Because I do not question suspicious intruders in a prison."
Aira blinked.
She couldn't tell whether that was supposed to make her feel better or worse.
At least he wasn't planning to interrogate her inside a dark prison filled with monsters. But then again. He was a vampire king.
Being questioned by him in a throne room somehow sounded even worse.
