Chapter 71 - Leisure

Zed and the others spent the better part of a day moving, finally completing the arduous task. They all collapsed on the sofa, contemplating life.

No one knew why moving was so exhausting, feeling like it consumed more energy than a major battle.

"Ugh~ I'm beat~"

Zed, with the least regard for his image, slumped into Xin's embrace, using her chest as a pillow. He held a half-empty can of cola and stared at the ceiling with a profound expression.

Xin, calm and intellectual, massaged Zed's shoulders, easing his muscles.

Skye envied Zed. After the tiring day, he got to enjoy such attentive service, while she could only lie on her side, lightly tapping her back.

Skye whined pitifully:

"Not being able to call a moving company is such a pain. Oh~ my back! Today was truly suffering. So tiring! My back!"

Zed saw Skye's aggrieved expression and lifted his left foot, stepping on her back and kneading.

"The royal bed is still very comfortable, good for the back. You can sleep on it tonight."

"A little higher. Oohhoohoo~ a little to the left. Oh~ that feels good!" Skye, like a cat, squinted her eyes and enjoyed Zed's back massage, ignoring his suggestive remarks.

After Zed played around with Skye for a while, he left the castle and returned to the company.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Loud thuds came from the laboratory. Zed wondered what Dan Kuroto was up to.

As soon as Zed entered the laboratory, he saw Dan Kuroto banging his head against the wall, constantly muttering:

"Why? Why? Why? What went wrong? Why can't it be compatible? I am a god! Ah!"

Zed calmly watched Dan Kuroto go crazy, took another sip of his cola, and asked:

"What's wrong? Shrimp Dumpling! Is there really something that can stump your divine talent?"

Dan Kuroto instantly turned his head, his face contorted as he roared at Zed:

"Im!Possible!"

"Alright, alright, calm down. What problem have you run into? Tell me so I can have a good laugh."

"Just kidding, just kidding, it's good to brainstorm. You never know when inspiration might strike!" Zed soothed, seeing Dan Kuroto becoming increasingly agitated.

Dan Kuroto took several deep breaths, slowly calming his turbulent emotions. Then, he walked to the workbench and pointed at the Mighty Gamer Gashat and the God 1 Billion Gashat, saying:

"The pursuit of continuous evolution is the mission of every scientist, and I, as a god, should be more so.

I plan to surpass God's limit, combining the Mighty Gamer Gashat and God 1 Billion Gashat to create an even stronger God of Creation Gamer!

But! The Mighty Gamer Gashat and God 1 Billion Gashat are incompatible! Why! Is! That!"

Seeing Dan Kuroto about to lose it again, Zed quickly advised:

"You have to eat one bite at a time. Don't rush, take it slow. For example, think about why Emu Hojo can be compatible with the Mighty Gamer Gashat and Maximum Mighty X Gashat without conflict."

"Parad!"

Thinking about this, Dan Kuroto took the Ex-Aid Watch, which had been completed not long ago, from the shelf and said: "I'll keep this for now. I need to study it again!"

After saying this, Dan Kuroto ignored Zed beside him and went to the lab table to start working on his own.

Zed's mouth twitched: "Why did I have to run my mouth?"

Zed turned and left Dan Kuroto's lab, feeling helpless, and started wandering around again, bored.

The company's office area downstairs was full of ordinary people, so Zed couldn't just show his face. After wandering around, he ended up at Carl's lab.

Skye had already been here talking with Carl for quite some time when Zed arrived.

Zed, disregarding Carl's very displeased gaze, walked in on his own:

"Mind if I pop in for a visit?"

"I mind! I mind very much!" Carl glared at the guy who'd stolen his precious daughter.

Skye grabbed Carl's arm and shook it, acting cute.

"You promised me! You said you'd get along with Zed!"

"I, I…" Carl stammered, unable to speak.

Zed pulled out a chair and sat down directly, asking,

"How's the treatment going?"

Carl snorted, not answering Zed's question. Skye, however, explained the situation in detail:

"My father's mental state has stabilized a lot, but he's not fully recovered and can't be overly stimulated."

The first time Zed saw Carl, he was a disheveled mess, looking every bit the mad scientist. Now, Carl had cleaned himself up, hoping to make a good impression on his daughter.

Zed watched Carl dote on Skye and had a sudden idea. He took out a blank Watch and handed it to Carl, saying,

"Give it a try! See if you can activate it!"

Carl already knew about the Watch's function from Skye and, out of curiosity, took it. He held it in his hands, examining it closely.

Skye looked at Zed with a puzzled expression. She asked,

"Can my father activate the Watch too?"

Zed answered honestly,

"I don't know, but it doesn't hurt to try. And in a way, the Watch can also be considered an alarm."

Skye immediately understood what Zed meant and looked at Carl with anticipation, encouraging him to activate the Watch.

Carl nodded at Skye and pressed the button on the Watch.

Clack!

Clack!

The Watch didn't respond.

Carl's anger surged, and he pressed the button even harder, his breathing becoming heavier.

Hoo... hoo...

"Dad!" Skye shouted, jolting Carl awake.

Carl, now awake, felt a little ashamed and avoided Skye's gaze. However, Skye unreservedly held Carl's hand and said:

"It's best if it doesn't activate! If it does, tell me immediately, okay?"

"Hmm."

At S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, Nick Fury was listening to Coulson's report. Coulson had dug up a number of human parasites by following the Vampire's ledger.

These people all had respectable identities as upper-class individuals on the surface, and S.H.I.E.L.D. wasn't in a position to directly arrest them.

S.H.I.E.L.D. wasn't convenient, but The Council was!

Deputy Director Hill, standing to the side, meticulously recorded all the names. These guys were sure to have a bad time once they were in the hands of the iron-faced Hill.

Although there were many Hydra members within The Council, their goal was clear—to live a better life, have more wealth, and wield more power.

The Hydra members, represented by Malik, didn't want to become Vampire food. They strongly supported suppressing these Vampires, and other neutral factions joined forces with Malik and the others, creating a huge momentum.

A small number of people who colluded with the Vampires all kept a low profile, fearing that they would be implicated.

Anyway, they didn't personally get involved. It was enough to throw the people under them out as scapegoats. They would still be patriotic, loving-humanity capitalists and politicians.

While the Council members were in their meeting, the vampire nobles initiated the Elder Council.

A vampire in butler attire pulled down a series of mechanisms, and with the sounds of gears meshing and engaging...

The floor of the ancient hall began to sink. Thirteen coffins rose from beneath the ground. Then, countless IV tubes were connected to the ports of six of the coffins by servants.

After the scarlet, alluring blood was pumped into the coffins, the sound of fingernails scratching echoed from within those six coffins.

Subsequently, the vampire butler respectfully opened these six coffins. Inside were gaunt, pale-skinned vampire elders.

The elder in the middle opened his eyes first, looking at the vampire butler and asking in a hoarse voice:

"Rona, how long has it been since we last met?"

The vampire butler named Rona bowed and answered:

"Four hundred years ago, esteemed Elder Torido."

The Elder slowly moved his body, which hadn't moved in four hundred years, and looked at the five coffins beside him: "Is another of our kin gone?"

"Yes."

"Tell us everything that has happened in the last few centuries."

"Yes."

A group of young Vampire nobles waited hesitantly outside the conference hall, awaiting the awakening of the only six remaining Vampire Elders.

When Butler Rona opened the door, these Vampires sat down in an orderly manner with trepidation.

The eldest Elder of the Torido family tapped the table lightly to signal these three- or four-hundred-year-old youths to look at him: "Every time we awaken from our slumber, the world outside undergoes massive changes."

Every time, the old ones depart, and the new ones take their seats. It really makes one marvel at the power of time. But no matter how long it takes, the glory of the Bloodline will never fade!

Our food has taken up arms against us; it is not their fault. Every life has the right to fight to survive.

But they have killed many of our brethren, causing significant losses to our noble bloodline! We shall grant them death!"

As this Vampire elder passionately uttered the word "death," a wave of cheers erupted from the young Vampire nobles below.

These young Vampire nobles were all restless individuals, the bigger the trouble, the better, as long as they themselves didn't die.

Some of the older Vampires were a little worried; they knew very well what era they were in. Humans were no longer the defenseless pigs of the past; their specialized ultraviolet weapons could inflict fatal damage on Vampires.

These old relics, still living in the centuries of the past, made these self-aware Vampires somewhat concerned, worried about whether the decisions they made would bring harm.

But in this environment, no one with any sense dared to jump out and object. The elders had done their fair share of killing the chicken to scare the monkeys.

After the cheering subsided, these Vampires began to discuss specific plans to retaliate against humanity.

"Blade! He must die! He killed so many of our kin, that bastard is a blight!"

"That Zi-O should die too. Diken wasn't a great noble, but he wasn't someone that guy could just kill!"

"And those who betrayed us… they can't be spared either!"

After all the discussion, the first target decided on was Blade. There was no other choice; Blade's location was the easiest to track.

You always start with the softest persimmon.
