"I believed things would improve once I became his wife. My plan was simple—be a devoted spouse, stay home, support his ambitions, and raise our kids," I explained. "But life rarely matches our expectations, and now I see that my dream of being an ordinary housewife will never happen."
"Never?"
"Exactly. My marriage is finished. There's no scenario where I'd go back to Charles after his betrayal," I stated.

Carlos nearly blurted out instinctively that Grace's housewife dreams weren't completely dead—not if she still wanted that life.
They could have that together, if she was willing.
Actually, that would be the perfect thing to say right now. It would definitely score him points with Grace, even if his motives weren't entirely pure.
But before he could speak, Grace continued, "Besides, I'm not planning to remarry. The whole experience was too damaging."
