Carlos's POV
"She will give in. I'll make sure she does," I declared, settling into my chair.
Calling me pissed would be putting it mildly. The humiliation burned through me because Grace acted like I was some insignificant nobody.
She even threw out that ridiculous excuse about wanting to stay with her husband just to dodge me—pathetic, really. We both knew she was feeding me complete bullshit.
I forced myself to focus on Mrs. Patterson's documents about Crown Publishing, trying to stay busy.
I'd already memorized every word, but I needed the distraction to stop dwelling on the brutal rejection I'd just endured.
Fat chance of that working.
"Tsk," I clicked my tongue and slammed the papers down. "This is fucking annoying. Can't believe she had the nerve to reject me after what we shared that night."
"And she's carrying my baby..."
Restlessness ate at me until I finally grabbed my phone and punched in a number.
