Despite what I had said I still had no plan. I supposed I was just trying to believe that I was actually doing something.
I tried to contact the number but…well, you could imagine contacting a number that didn't exist.
"So, the only thing I can do is confront her, huh?"
The issue was that the person only had Kagura's voice–there was no actual proof that it was Kagura.
"Perhaps, I should tell…" I checked my phone and saw that it was past 10 so it would have been abnormal for me to call Suzuki but that time.
"So, confronting it is," I sighed and went to take a bath before going to sleep.
I wonder how this will turn out.
The next day I came to class early so I could confront Kagura. She must have gone to great lengths to do what she did, to be found so easily would shock her and disorient her–that was if the culprit was even her.
As to why I came early, it is because of two reasons.
She is a vice president so out of pure assumption, she should come early with Ito to clean the class. But in the case that I am wrong, at least I would be the first person to intercept her when she comes, though that is if she isn't with friends.
But did I need to do this much?
I could just ask her like normal, as a friend, but she would most likely lie because why go through the length of hiding your identity just to reveal it.
Besides, I didn't have any evidence to point any fingers so she could easily evade me.
The walk to class was quiet, I suppose. It was early so no one was there yet, it was just me and my thoughts.
I need to use the most efficient means; it seems I still…
I switched into my indoor shoes and approached my classroom.
When I arrived at class I saw Ito cleaning alone, I didn't particularly want to help.
But since I'm there already I might as well help a friend out.
"Hey Nakamura, you're early today. Don't suppose there's a special occasion," He grinned at me.
"Oh, not really. Need a hand?"
"Nah, don't worry Kagura is on her way. But thanks anyway."
"No, don't worry, it's also my class after all."
"Don't worry, today is me and Kagura's cleaning day."
Ah, forgot about that.
I suppose it was less of forgetfulness and more of ignorance because I hadn't experienced my cleaning day because two people were given a day and I hadn't been selected yet.
"I am worrying, just let me help."
"If you insist then okay."
This works in my favor, if I've already cleaned the class then Kagura won't need to do anything, and we can get straight to business.
Moreover, I could also help a friend out.
"So, what should I do?"
"Uh, just arrange the chairs. I've pretty much done everything else."
"Huh? But isn't Kagura going to help you?"
"Well…"
His expression told me everything; Kagura was being tardy.
I couldn't be surprised. Kagura always had somewhere to go so expecting her to wake up early would be impossible.
Ito probably understood that more than me since they had been classmates longer than me.
"I see," I nodded, completely understanding what he meant.
There was silence as I arranged the chairs, after Ito was done with cleaning the board he joined in and helped me.
After we were done, he let out a sigh of relief and then sat at his desk.
"Eughh," he stretched while sitting.
I sat on the seat beside him, basically hinting that we should talk.
"So Nakamura, how is your experience at this school? Besides the Class Beta debacle, of course," he joked.
"Frankly it's underwhelming."
"Eh?"
"No, don't get me wrong. I love being free and all, but the school system feels too easy."
'The best way to get the right answer is not to ask a question, but to say the wrong answer.' This is a law— originally an internet law, it was popularized by Steven McGeady, a former intel executive and he credited it to Ward Cunningham, the creator of the first wiki—WikiWikiWeb.
Though it mostly applies to an internet setting, it can work in this kind of setting though it has a chance of not working on some people.
I was doing this because I was getting curious about the school—especially with what Kagura possibly did.
"Easy? Isn't that way too much of an understatement? Even if you're leaving out the Class Beta debacle, there are other things."
"How so? As far as I've seen this school is way too lenient."
"You do know that a student was expelled from this very class."
"That could be for a number of things."
"It was for failure in the exam we had last term," Ito said looking at the ground.
"I see—I know it's a touchy subject, but I want to know how I'm wrong. It could help me to not make the same mistake."
"You're right," he took a breath and continued.
"Kobayashi was a kind boy though a little bit perverted, so some girls disliked him," he paused momentarily before continuing.
"During the exam, he went against one of the rules that prohibited telling information to people, and that led to…" Ito just stared at the ground for a while before he finally continued.
"Worst of all, I'm the one who told him to do it. I thought he'd blame me for his expulsion. However, Shin just said I should tell everyone that he's throwing in the towel early," he grimaced slightly.
I highly doubted he was the one who made Kobayashi get expelled, but it seemed he's the one who took the blame.
He must have really hurt him but judging from the way he phrased it I doubt they were close.
Probably along the lines of the relationship we had now. That amount of a savior complex was too much for Ito to carry, if he was not careful it could really end up bad.
But back to how Kobayashi got expelled. It seemed breaking one of the rules could get me expelled.
It sounded way too strict but it was possible that it just applied to exams.
Well, someone like me will have no problem following the rules.
After all, it was all just perspective–even now as I analysed this I brought my own prejudice and bias into it.
Based on what I had seen from Ito I came to a conclusion that could even be wrong.
"I see, thanks for telling me it looked hard to do," I said remorsely.
"Yeah. Thanks to him, we barely passed through."
"But what kind of exam was that?"
"Ah—forget it," Ito said.
"I AM HERE!!!" Kagura slid into the class. "Ito, do you know that reference?"
"Uh, no," He replied quickly, trying to cover up his saddened mood.
"Sorry for being late. I'll come earlier next time. Also, hey Nakamura."
"No problem," Ito replied. "Though I'm already done."
"Hey, uh Kagura can we talk?" I asked.
"Ok, let's talk." She brought a chair to me and spun it around.
"It's about Suzuki—I have girl issues," I laughed nervously, scratching the back of my head.
If I say it like that then it's more than a good reason for Ito to not be interested.
He doesn't seem like the kind of guy that's interested in other people's business.
"Uh sure, let's not talk here," Kagura said plainly.
"Do you have any other place where we could talk?"
"Yeah, follow me."
She took me to a secluded place with a bench and sat me down beside her.
She probably thought I was lost because of her phone call, and I contacted her for her opinion but I had a plan in mind.
"I…got a weird call yesterday."
"Weird call? What kind? Don't tell me a ghost called you."
"No, not that kind of weird call."
"Then what kind?"
"It had no call id."
"T-Tha's not possi–"
"I saw it. The person told me to break up with Suzuki or…"
"Or what?"
"Or I would get expelled."
"What do you plan to do then? Is there a way ti track the person?"
"No, I tried. I just started dating Suzuki yesterday yet…Do I have to leave Suzuki just to not get expelled? But that's not fair," I looked down, shaking a bit at my words.
Matsumoto once said I looked delicate, I suppose I looked more delicate than ever because I was about to cry because someone threatened me to break up with my girlfriend.
"It must have been hard," Kagura hugged me. "Especially when they called by 10PM."
"...Kagura?"
"Hmm?"
"I never mentioned the time."
Gotcha.

Author's Note:
Woah, Eiya's on a roll. I've seen this trope in movies so thought why not implement it, hopefully it turned out good considering it was my first try.
Well, goodish, but I digress. So uh, it's rambling time. So wanna know the songs I play when writing. Here's a list:
Vai Vai Trai (a phonk)
Espresso
Headlock, and many more. It would have been a pain to mention all of them but trust I have a good music taste.
That reminds me: tomorrow I'll tell y'all a story.
Anyway, remember to comment, share, and leave a review. Thanks for reading the chapter and see you in the next one.
