Chapter 3 - ocean

Kaya's heart wept silently, mourning a life she felt had been irreparably shattered. As she and Adheer rose to seek the elders' blessings, a sharp, incredulous voice pierced the tense air:

"What the hell is going on?"

All eyes swung toward the door, shock rippling through the hall. There, standing in defiance, was Sanaya.

Marching in, her eyes blazing with anger, she confronted Adheer, "Adheer, what is this? Who is she?"

(Teri sautan 😜)

Adheer rose from the pavilion, his gaze locking on Sanaya. "What are you doing here? And where have you been all this time?"

(Suhagraat ki tyari kar rahi thi 🙆)

Flashback:

Sananya's friend entered her room carrying the wedding dress. Excitement lit up Sananya's face as she hurried forward to get a closer look at the lehenga. But her friend, with a mischievous grin, tried to hide it, teasing her playfully.

"Dekho dekho, kitni jaldi ho rahi hai ise shadi karne ki!" she giggled, wiggling in jest.

("Look, look, how quickly she's getting ready to get married!")

Her friend darted around the room with the lehenga, laughing as she teased Sananya. Eager, Sananya chased after her, but suddenly her foot slipped, and she tumbled to the floor, the lehenga falling alongside her.

Rushing to help, her friend lifted her gently. "Are you okay, Amyra?" she asked.

"Yeah! I'm fine… but your wedding dress fell because of me. It's a bad omen," Amyra replied nervously.

Sananya quickly consoled her, "It's nothing like that, Amyra. That's just something people say."

Her eyes then darted back to the lehenga, and a scream of frustration escaped her lips: "What is this?" She grabbed the lehenga and turned to Amyra, "This is not the lehenga I had chosen for me."

Confused, Amyra asked, "What are you saying?"

Just then, their third friend, Ruby, appeared and asked, "Madam, isn't it time to get ready today? Otherwise, the baraat will be waiting."

Still fixated on the lehenga, Sananya repeated, "This isn't what we selected."

"Yes," she added, frustration tugging at her voice.

Ruby suggested, "Tell uncle about this, and he can get it changed."

"No," Sananya replied firmly, "Dad is already very upset. Don't trouble him anymore."

Amyra hesitated, "So… what should we do now?"

Sananya smiled faintly, determination in her eyes, "Amyra and I will go to the designer and get the lehenga ourselves. Ruby, you handle everything here."

Unknown to them, someone was quietly listening from behind the door.

Following their plan, Sananya and Amyra set off to collect the lehenga, while Ruby went downstairs.

Some time later, Sananya's aunt Ruby called out from below, asking her to bring the gifts prepared for the guests. She climbed back upstairs, but suddenly, the door slammed shut behind her and locked. A voice, dark and teasing, whispered:

"Sorry, sweetheart! This wedding isn't going to happen 😈."

(Who could this be? 🙃)

Flashback ends.

She remained silent, tears streaming beneath her veil, until Sananya gently lifted it.

Adheer's gaze sharpened as he asked, "Who are you?"

("Aapke bacho ki hone wali maa 🙆")

Slowly, she lifted her eyes. Her ocean-blue gaze met Adheer's intense Paris-brown eyes. Tears shimmered like waves in her eyes, and in that instant, Adheer felt as if he were drowning in their depths.

And whenever she whispered "Ocean," his heart skipped a beat.
