Windsor's POV
The morning felt like a dream I never wanted to wake from. Maybe that should have been my first warning.
I stirred against the warmth surrounding me, finding myself pressed against Zion's chest. His breathing was deep and even, his arms still holding me close even in sleep. For once, his face looked completely at peace. No tension creased his forehead, no shadows haunted his features.
He had slept through the night without calling out for her. Without whispering that name that cut through me like glass every time I heard it. Jelly. The ghost that seemed to own pieces of his heart I could never touch.
I traced my fingertips along the defined muscles of his forearm, barely grazing his skin. The contact sent electricity shooting through my veins. This was dangerous territory. I was falling for someone who might never be fully mine.
His eyes opened slowly, finding mine immediately. That sleepy smile that appeared on his lips made my stomach flip.
