Chapter 221: Heading to Space
"Ding. Main Quest 3 Completed. Rewards: Five Master Balls, a complete set of Mega Stones for Mewtwo Y, a random Legendary Pokémon map, and two Plate Fragments."
As the match ended and Ryan lifted the championship trophy, the system's notification sounded. Ash stared at Ryan and said, "So you weren't using your full strength when you fought me."
Seeing Ash's frustrated expression, Ryan patted his shoulder and said, "Don't worry about it. After the Ever Grande League, I won't be traveling anymore. But Ash, you're always welcome to challenge me."
Ash shook his head helplessly and said, "There are changes in the League; there won't be a League Conference for the entire next year. So I'll temporarily stop and hone my skills to try and beat you next time."
"Then, it's a deal." Ryan extended his fist towards him, and their fists bumped.
"Ding. Main Quest 4 unlocked: Capture six legendary Pokémon. Rewards: 10 Master Balls, one random legendary Pokémon map, and two Plate Fragments."
Ryan immediately noticed the system's change to the main quest—capturing legendary Pokémon. But after thinking about it for a moment: Something seems off? Capture six legendary Pokémon?! Are you kidding me?!
After the closing ceremony, Ryan and his group rested in Lilycove City for one night. The next day, they took a plane directly to Mossdeep City. The meteorite was approaching the planet, the manned rocket was completed, and Ryan was ready to launch into space.
The plane landed in Mossdeep City, and Ryan and his group rushed to the Pokémon Center.
Ryan couldn't just head to space like that; before that, he still needed to transfer a large number of Pokémon over. Lillie helped Ryan count the Poké Balls and said, "Ryan, there are 232 Trapinch and 268 Vibrava. There are 530 Psychic-type Pokémon like Elgyem, Beheeyem, Solrock, and Lunatone. The numbers are sufficient for now."
Ruby frowned at the large number of Poké Balls and said, "Ryan, are you sure you don't need me to go up with you? Having someone else to help you command these Pokémon will make things a little easier."
"It's fine. A weakened Deoxys can't cause much trouble," Ryan said.
Just then, someone walked into the Pokémon Center. It was none other than Wallace. Wallace handed Ryan a form and said, "Oxygen is ready, and Ho-Oh will follow to finish things off. Now it's up to you."
"Don't even think about running away," Ryan said with a cold laugh. He checked the form; if there were no problems, then all the preparations were complete.
Wallace shrugged and said, "Don't worry, I wouldn't joke about my own life."
With that, Wallace turned and left. Lillie glanced at the form, nodded, and said, "The form is fine. Ryan, be careful. There's something else I need to tell you. The inscription on the Plate has been deciphered. The scattered words on the other Plate fragments have also been deciphered."
She then opened her laptop and showed Ryan a photograph. Ryan looked at the ancient text displayed in the photograph and examined it carefully.
"What does it mean?" Sapphire asked, confused.
Ryan pondered for a moment, then pulled out a small notebook from his backpack and glanced at it. He said, "I remember now. The full inscription should be like this: 'When the universe was created from the Void, its shards became this Plate. The power of defeated giants infuses this Plate. Two beings of time and space set free from the Original One. Three beings were born to bind time and space. Two make matter, and three make spirit. The power of the Plates is shared among Pokémon. The rightful bearer of the Plate draws from the Plate it holds.'"
"What does that mean?" Ruby was also bewildered.
Lillie also fell into deep thought and asked, "Ryan, where did you see that?"
"In ancient ruins," Ryan casually explained.
At the same time, he also fell into thought: the above passage was an inscription from the Plates in the original games. He didn't expect that there would be such inscriptions in this world as well. When he first saw the Plate fragment, he had somewhat forgotten about this possibility.
And when he summoned Arceus before, Arceus also mentioned atonement, but he didn't know what the secret was.
However, from the interpretation of these Plate inscriptions, it's not difficult to see that the Original One refers to Arceus, the two beings of time and space refer to Dialga and Palkia, and the three beings refer to Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf.
However, what do the defeated giants refer to? Based on the fact that there's no Normal-type Plate, and considering Regigigas, Ryan guessed that Regigigas originally had counterparts of various types, and the Plates were made by Arceus after defeating them.
However, after reviewing historical records, Ryan only learned that Regigigas created the three Legendary Golems and could move continents. Why would Arceus defeat it? And since Arceus created the world from the Void, how could a group of Regigigas appear out of nowhere?
This was clearly contradictory. But if "defeated giants" was interpreted differently, that still didn't make complete sense either. After all, they had all witnessed Arceus's power; Ryan really couldn't think of any Pokémon that could defeat it.
After much deliberation, still without a clear answer, Ryan suppressed the thought. If there was an opportunity later, he could ask Arceus, since it was the only one who had truly experienced those ancient times, and only it could explain these things.
Next, Ryan and the others packed up and rushed to the rocket launch site. Ryan had the system scan the entire rocket, finding no problems, and the oxygen supply was sufficient.
Ryan met with Wallace, and the two put on their spacesuits and quickly boarded the capsule. Ryan carefully secured the numerous Poké Balls; this was the crucial final step. Without them, they might not be able to destroy the massive meteorite.
"Move aside, I'll operate it." Ryan moved Wallace aside and took the pilot's seat.
"Hey. This is a rocket, not a car! Can you even pilot this?" Wallace said, looking concerned.
"Fasten your seatbelt, the experienced pilot is about to launch!" Ryan confidently checked the controls in front of him, then initiated the launch sequence.
"Wait! The control center isn't ready yet! Why are you starting the launch?!" Wallace instantly panicked.
"I told you, I'm an experienced pilot. What do I need them for?" Ryan smiled confidently.
He had the system's assistance; piloting a rocket was simple!
