Chapter 220: Solgaleo's Revenge
"Charizard, I'm counting on you." Lance immediately sent out his veteran Charizard.
Charizard looked at Celebi, and without a word, slammed its fist into the ground, sending up pillars of explosive flames that hurtled towards Celebi.
"Trying to take advantage of me using all four of my moves, huh? Celebi, no need to defend, go all out with Future Sight and pave the way for your teammates," Ryan said.
Celebi had already used Future Sight, Protect, Leech Seed, and Heal Block. Lance knew this and immediately sent out Charizard to counter Celebi. But Ryan was going all out, sacrificing Celebi to pave the way for his teammates instead of letting it defend.
Charizard used three Blast Burns in succession before finally knocking Celebi out of the battle, but Lance wasn't happy at all. In the time it took to use those three Blast Burns, Celebi had already launched countless Future Sight attacks; one combo could probably knock down a Pokémon!
"Come back, Celebi. You did a great job. Now it's up to your teammates. Go, Kyogre!" Ryan immediately sent out Kyogre to counter Lance's Charizard.
Kyogre entered the arena, floating in the air. The Primordial Sea ability activated, dark clouds filled the sky, and a torrential downpour quickly filled the entire battle arena, even the drains couldn't handle it in time, and Ryan's legs were already soaked.
In this heavy rain, Charizard was completely suppressed. Let alone attacking, even a single Flamethrower would be lucky to produce a spark.
"Come back, Charizard." Lance quickly tried to recall Charizard.
"Can it go back? Kyogre, Origin Pulse!" Ryan said.
Several blue energy spheres appeared around Kyogre, then Kyogre roared, and all the energy spheres emitted blue beams that shot towards Charizard, simultaneously creating layers of water that directly blocked the red beam trying to retrieve the Poké Ball.
The Origin Pulse struck Charizard, whose wings were soaked with rainwater and unable to fly. Amplified by the rain, the Origin Pulse caused explosive damage, knocking Charizard into the water and rendering it unable to battle.
"Charizard is unable to battle! Please switch Pokémon!" the referee announced.
Lance and Ryan simultaneously recalled their Pokémon. They had no choice; the rainfall was astonishing. In a short time, the water had reached chest-deep. The two of them, along with the referee, had been fighting while standing in the water. If they didn't recall them soon, Kyogre might actually create a vast ocean.
"Go!" they said simultaneously.
A flash of white light, and Kingdra and Charizard appeared in the air simultaneously. Ryan laughed, "Let me show you Charizard's power! Mega Evolve!"
Mega Charizard X appeared, radiating intense heat. The receding water accelerated its evaporation, and a large amount of steam rose up, making the audience feel as if they were in a sauna.
Kingdra roared, opening its mouth and releasing three different colored orbs of light. Dragon, Water, and Ice beams were then unleashed, striking Charizard.
Charizard unleashed its massive, flaming claws, their blue flames catching the incoming triple attack and tearing it apart. Charizard roared again, flapping its wings and swooping down on Kingdra. The blue flames from its claws left three fiery wounds on Kingdra's body, which blazed fiercely. Kingdra desperately tried to extinguish the flames, but found them impossible to put out.
"Give up. Charizard, having mastered the Blaze Aura, its flames can't be extinguished so easily. Besides, your Kingdra's mastery of Aura is only half-baked; it's no match for my Charizard," Ryan said indifferently, looking at Lance.
Kingdra was thus consumed by the flames and lost its ability to fight. Lance frowned and said, "As expected, all your Pokémon have mastered Aura. I'm curious how you did it? After all, this is what I've been pursuing, and even with such effort, I can only occasionally touch that level."
"Want to learn? Then join my Mercenary Guild," Ryan smiled.
"Go, Gyarados!" Lance sent out Gyarados to fight Charizard.
"Useless, its Aura is too weak. Bring out your Dragonite. Charizard, Flamethrower," Ryan said.
Charizard unleashed a pillar of fire at Gyarados, whose body glowed as it withstood Charizard's Flamethrower with Endure.
"Return it double!" Lance declared.
Gyarados gathered energy, and a powerful beam hurtled directly towards Charizard. Charizard snorted dismissively, its fiery claws forming, swatting the attack away. Just as Gyarados was about to attack again, two Future Sight attacks appeared, instantly taking away the last of its health.
Lance silently recalled Gyarados and sent out his last Dragonite. Ryan also recalled Charizard and sent out Solgaleo.
Solgaleo stood in the arena, its gaze fixed intently on Dragonite. It had waited far too long for this day! All these years, it had relentlessly honed its skills on the Legendary Pokémon Island, all for the sake of facing this Dragonite again, not only to prove its own strength, but also to prove: My trainer is stronger than yours!!!
"Alright, Solgaleo, Radiant Sun Phase! Searing Sunraze Smash!" Ryan assumed a Z-Move stance and announced to Solgaleo.
Solgaleo gradually emitted the light of the sun, entering its Radiant Sun Phase. It began to run, charging towards Dragonite. Dragonite suddenly spread its wings and met Solgaleo head-on, unleashing a massive Draco Meteor towards Solgaleo.
Solgaleo roared, "The same move won't work twice!"
A spatial ripple shot through the air as the Draco Meteor blasted into a dimensional rift. Dragonite tried to retreat, but a powerful wave suddenly erupted from the void behind it, sending the redirected Draco Meteor hurtling back at it. Caught off guard, Dragonite was struck by its own attack and forced back towards Solgaleo.
A glint flashed in Solgaleo's eyes, and the devastating Searing Sunraze Smash struck Dragonite, sending it flying. Immediately afterward, another spatial ripple shot through the air, and countless Future Sight attacks slammed into Dragonite, driving it into the ground with continued force.
Ryan laughed, "It's over. All thanks to Celebi!"
Solgaleo lowered its body, lying down in front of Ryan and rubbing its large head against his face. Just as Ryan said, everything was settled. Ryan defeated Lance with an overwhelming advantage, successfully winning the championship!
On the other side of the field, the dust settled. Dragonite lay in the crater, unable to battle.
"Dragonite is unable to battle! Solgaleo wins! Therefore, the winner of the championship match is Ryan from Pallet Town!!! Let's cheer for the new Champion!!!" the commentator said passionately.
"YEAH!!!" Endless cheers erupted. At this moment, no one knew that they had witnessed the beginning of a legend!
