Synopsis
I was hit by a truck in the night. Twelve passerbys, ten mouthed gasps, eight developed into hysteria. Time dilated, yet my thoughts did not. A conundrum. The dissonance between my body and thought would be worth analyzing. Chains sprouted out from the ground, binding me to immobility. The world seemed to be hellbent on sending me away. I didn't move. I couldn't move. A sensible outcome. My legs were chained, time slowed down, my thought and the truck kept moving at a normal pace. I met the Goddess. Curious, I was never a man of faith. After considerstion, I have nothing else to do, staying in this empty space had no benefits. She sent me to a world called "Monad". A world plagued with monsters and demons, she told me. I had become an object of observation. Let them. — Albert [Temporary Footnote: Will also be posted on RoyalRoad.com]

Chapter 1 - 0. The World and The Outsider

Monad. A realm that was once peaceful and tranquil. One where humanity were born with magic in their veins. Suddenly, one day, when the Wizard of the Towers had used magic beyond their control, hell was set upon the world.

Monsters appeared. They were savages with a mind less than that of a child but power akin to a knight. Humanity was ruthlessly defeated. They were no longer the strongest life in Monad.

When Humanity was still recovering, demons appeared. They were born of monsters who had reached intellect akin, or even surpassing that of a human. They had severed themselves from the monsters, taking over a land for their own. Similar to what Humanity had always done.

The world was split into three parts. The Land of the Demons, The Kingdoms of Humanity, and the Forest of Monsters. It remained the same, until Humanity brought destruction upon themselves once more.

They disturbed the Forest of Monsters, thinking they had recovered enough and advanced enough to take over the Monsters' land.

It resulted in a humiliating defeat. The consequences extended beyond that of Humans and Monsters. The Demons were disturbed, the conflict outside created unrest in their land. Thoughts of an all-out war had crossed the minds of the Demon Lord.

So he went to strengthen his men. The demons developed magic beyond what humanity had. The Monsters stayed the same: savage creatures with a mind less than that of a child. But even so, they are not blind from the possibility of a war. They too, began to prepare on their own.

These actions led into the Monsters gaining sentience, one that differs from the Demons. Gradually, the Demons and Monsters became so different to the point where their shared ancestry became forgotten.

Humanity did not stay still. Their humiliating defeat led them to a hard time, but their unwavering spirit allowed them to rise again once more. This time, their goal is to survive. Should an all-out war break out.

"You, Heroes, were chosen by me, The Goddess Sophia. Lead humanity to survive, to triumph! Monad chose you, so do I." I finished recounting the tale. It was always fun to see their astonished faces.

The batch for this cycle is a group of high school friends. One male, three females. All Japanese. Perfect. I granted them skills matching their personalities. It was as easy as flicking a finger for me. Their expression sells everything. They wore their hearts on the sleeves.

I began to speak, "Go forth, Heroes. Save Monad and let humanity prevails!" I teleported them, straight into the summoning circle the humans on Monad had drawn. I dropped the prophecy, one that had been scheduled in every Monad cycle.

I made the realm out of boredom. Each cycle, different 'heroes' were sent, then each journey would be different from the last. I always sent four. It was the one that works the best. However… I felt a desire to add an extra.

Who knows what kind of story unfolds with just one addition? So I picked a human on Earth. The four young heroes were Japanese, but I felt that it'd be boring to just add another one the same. I searched into a place: France. There was a man that had merely gone out of grocery store.

There was a popular story of a man who goes missing only to end up in another world. Well~ It wouldn't hurt to try. There was a truck heading into where he is. With a flick of a hand, the truck went uncontrollable. It didn't stop even when the breakers are hit. I made sure to chain the guy so that he wouldn't escape from it.

"Welcome! O, Chosen One of Monad!" I greeted with hyperinflated enthusiasm. It is usually enough to have them fawn over me. Yet, this man didn't budge. He stood there, staring at me. How dare...!

But I must calm down. Let's recount the story to him, I know it'll make him excited real soon.

It didn't. His face didn't budge a single time, I'm sure he didn't even blink. He just stared at me… Alright. That's how it is, huh? Very well. I gave him nothing but a gauntlet. With a skill that would remind him of his death: chains. Let's see how he survives in Monad with only those things.

I told him to write down his name on the paper. All he said was a short, "Yes", to me. The Goddess! Ugh, the nerve to be so indifferent! His name was… 'Albert'. What a boring name. I sent him away. Down to Monad. To where the young heroes had been sent to.

'What a frustrating man to deal with.'
