HISD Chapter 102 This Marvel World Has a Problem!
With his vibranium body phased and cloaked, paired with an AI's intrusion, Vision Yi Meng slipped into Pym Technologies like a technological ghost. The researchers and guards inside remained oblivious.
A thought, and he instantly grasped the entire building's layout and data, including the location of the stored Pym Particles.
Floating through the corridors like a phantom, Yi Meng passed through walls, heading straight for the internal lab.
Inside that lab, a bald man in a suit stood on a glass platform, overlooking the massive facility. Dozens of white-coated researchers busied themselves, injecting strange particles into machines for testing.
Zzzzt!
Inside one of the glass chambers, a goat was struck by a shimmering film, instantly compressed and wrapped into a tiny ball of pink gum. The monitoring screen immediately displayed the absence of vital signs.
"Another failure?"
The bald man's face darkened. The goat's death upon shrinking meant the technology still couldn't safely scale living beings—making a functioning shrinking suit impossible.
"Continue testing on live subjects until it works!"
Darren Cross barked the order and turned to leave.
He never noticed the invisible phantom brushing past him at the doorway.
Vision Yi Meng glanced at him once, and information surfaced in his mind. Darren Cross—left in charge of Pym Technologies after Hank Pym retired. He had reconstructed the Pym Particles from old files and sought to build advanced suits to sell to the highest bidders. Later, he would become the villain Yellowjacket, defeated by the second Ant-Man, Scott Lang. But for now, Scott was still just a skilled thief.
Yi Meng ignored him, phasing into the chamber where live experiments continued. He reached through the containment case, and with a vibranium hand, absorbed five vials of Pym Particles directly into his body.
He had no need for an Ant-Man suit. His vibranium body and shapeshifting ability were already more versatile. With Pym Particles, he could change size freely. If he wanted, he could grow into a giant like an Ultraman.
But time travel still required the Quantum Realm and a time machine. Without one, shrinking into the Quantum Realm meant being trapped forever.
"Got it."
Yi Meng made no sound as he phased back through walls, past unaware researchers, and out of the facility. Rising into the air, he carefully restored the security systems to their untouched state before returning to Avengers Tower.
Only after his departure did stunned researchers in the lab realize that half the stored Pym Particles had vanished without a trace.
…
Back in his suite at Avengers Tower, Yi Meng merged with his holographic double on the sofa. The projection faded, and his phased, invisible form solidified again.
To anyone else, it looked like he had never left. Yet five vials of Pym Particles now rested within his vibranium body.
"Next step—build the time machine, and say farewell to this Marvel past."
He thought quietly. But just then, the roar of engines echoed overhead. A Quinjet landed on the rooftop platform above.
Other Avengers had returned.
Yi Meng rose, phasing upward through floors until he reached the roof. The Quinjet had barely settled when its hull began trembling violently, crimson energy spilling out.
"What is this…"
Yi Meng's Mind Stone pulsed, sensing a wave of raw grief.
"Vision, get over here, quick!" Thor's voice rang out from inside.
Yi Meng wasted no time, his golden cape flaring as he flew into the jet.
What he saw froze him. Inside, Thor, Captain America, Black Widow, and Hawkeye stood grim-faced, gathered around a young woman kneeling in the center. She wore a red coat and skirt, her loose dark-gold hair blazing scarlet under her surging power.
The Scarlet Witch—Wanda Maximoff.
She was on her knees, face streaked with tears, eyes swollen with grief. Her anguish erupted into unstable waves of red chaos energy, shaking the Quinjet around her.
And in her arms lay a silver-haired young man, riddled with bullet wounds, lifeless.
Quicksilver. Her twin brother, Pietro.
Yi Meng rushed forward, pressing his vibranium palm to Wanda's forehead. The Mind Stone glowed, calming her mind. She collapsed unconscious, and the storm of chaos energy subsided.
He held her gently, his gaze lowering to Pietro's body. His voice, steady but heavy, asked, "What happened?"
"I'll explain," Clint said gravely. "We were evacuating Sokovia's people on the Helicarrier. One of Ultron's drones snuck onboard… Pietro took the bullets meant for the civilians. He died on the spot."
Yi Meng fell silent.
Inside his mind, calculations spun at blinding speed. To the others, this was a tragic loss. But to him, it was a thunderclap.
He had already saved Pietro before, rewriting history. And yet Pietro still died, in the same battle, in the same way—sacrificing himself for others.
Impossible.
It meant that no matter his interference, Marvel's history had not changed. Sokovia still fell. Ultron still died. Quicksilver still sacrificed his life.
Since the moment Yi Meng became Vision, the past had remained untouched.
A chilling realization dawned.
This Marvel world's past… had a serious problem.
