My name is Himmel, just a few days ago I was living a nice and easy life. I was apart of an above average family and my father was the strongest orc around at an astounding level 5. He threw praises for me as I was born as a Dark Orc, a rare subspecies of orc that gain both properties of being a Warrior Orc and Shaman Orc. My mother was even more impressive than my father. Although she was also level 5 her intelligence was unmatched.
She focused on learning the books and more about the world. Her powerful curses could land anyone in the healing hut with just a single word. She told me the wonders of our world, made me careful of the people around me and protected me from brutes. She also taught me the most important lesson "Levels".
Every creature born on this earth starts at level 0, an infant. But as they fight and grow stronger their experience grants a level up, Allowing one to reach peaks unknown. Starting from level two one must have made an achievement as they reach the peak of their level. If an achievement is made they break into the next level. Level 9 is the known highest level, although it is rumored that past level 9 you begin godhood.
With these praises from my father I was expected to reach level 6 maybe even level 7 and become the next king of the Orcs. To boost me even further I was given a magnificent item passed down the generations of my family that grows stronger through said generations. But, just yesterday after the party my father threw for my birthday I drunk from booze and slept without a care in the world. In the morning the item was gone, as if it grew an extra pair of legs like an arachnid and scurried off into the cracks of no where. My father found me quick, hurling insults at me.
"You ugly Orc, You suppose to be best Orc in village, leave and never come back."
Of course my mother intervened, she was our greatest Shaman. With her intelligent words she was able to convince the elders and my father to allow me back into the village under one condition. I must bring back my families heirloom.
Now I stand here outside of the gates of my village. The guards gave stares of disgust even though just yesterday they were also singing praises of me. Fuck it, fine. Ill bring back the heirloom and the head of the thief that'll show you. Those bastards didn't even care enough to give me a weapon before sending me out.
I took my first steps on the path that leads to other villages as I turned back I see my village shunned their heads at me. But, I could swear my mother was there watching me walk away, I think she's the only one with faith. She knew her child was sent out into the wilds of the Orc continent, where travelers steer clear of us. Our monsters are viscous, the Orcs enslave on a daily basis and more on. As I went further into the wilds I felt a slight disturbance. Using my father's hunting tactics I immediately ducked down, noticing taller grass near me, I slid in blending seamlessly.
It was a smokey aberration in the air. Since we orcs start training just a month after we are born I can tell with my 8 years of life that this monster was stronger than me. A lot stronger than me, but is it dumber. I felt the ground around me, feeling a few small rocks I picked two and threw them off toward the distance. The first rock landed firmly of the ground while not moving the tall grass in its surrounding, the second hit a tree creating a "thunk" sound.
The creature trampled all around the area where the rocks landed. Although I'm not sure about its sense of sight at least I know it can hear and it can hear very well. I pick up a few more rocks, with most of my strength I threw them away from the path towards the village. The creature began pounding where the rocks landed, I took my que and ran.
Although my father is on the dumber side sense Warrior Orcs hate studying, he was the best hunter with fewer than 1% of his hunts failing. Even hunting down a level 6 beast that was said to be able to level an entire forest. Using the combination of hunting tactics and knowing I shouldn't just pick fights I was able to make it out with my life.
I kept venturing forward as I did I saw a herd of horse like animals. They had the stripes of a Zebra but were far more robust especially the largest one there. It was menacing but it was weaker than what I just ran from. If my journey is to get even slightly easier I decided to attempt befriending the alpha.
Picking up some of the grass the herd was grazing I approached slowly so I wouldn't scare it. But as I did I noticed its eyes, It was intelligent and it was a she as she held foals near her legs. I changed my entire approach, I stood facing her and I treated her as an equal. Standing tall and confident I began a conversation.
"Would you lend me a hand on my adventure, I don't have any friends."
She neighed in my face like it was laughter, bending her downwards she tossed me in the air and I landed on her back. Her eyes said "Lead the way." We rode the earth together with the rest of the herd following along.
As night fell and rose again then we finally saw a new village, hopefully their a good bit kinder. As we got closer I realized a large group of animals approaching a village might seem a tad bit too menacing so I called the rest of the herd off and told them stand back a bit. Me and this Alpha creature finally arrived at the gates, so I greeted them.
"Hello, my name is Himmel I came from the village a few bits away, could I reside here for a while?"
The guards at the gate gave me a confused look as if I was speaking a completely different language. Then it stuck me, I was raised by a Shaman who actually cared about speaking correctly. So I repeated my self but a bit dumbed down.
"Hallo me come from village far far away, me want to stay for now here is ok?"
The two Orcs then approached me and gave a me a small interrogation.
"You is from far away?"
"Yes," I reluctantly said. I knew that if my higher heritage got out I might be put into slavery and sold back to my own family. Which is basically guaranteed death as the banished can never come back.
"Which village you from?"
"Me from 3 vallage that way." I then pointed towards the direction I came from.
"But three village is too far for you baby, how you make here?"
"Me have horse." I then pointed to the horse-like creature that I am literally riding on.
"That horse too strong for you, how you make yours."
"It not mine it wild and stupid." I could feel the slight aggravation from her as I said that but she's just gonna have to deal with it. But, with those final words they allowed me into their village. They explained very poorly how things work around here.
Kids like me have to wake up early in the morning and fight in what is basically a death pit, if you are still standing by the end of the brawl you are given food. This happens at least three times a day and if you're knocked out, you better hope you wake up fast enough to get the scraps off the ground before they get trampled on.
It was already the final meal time before night falls and the small amounts of ants I've been feeding on were barely enough to make it here. So I HAVE to get down and dirty if I want to sleep not staving. With all the kids beginning to gather around I could tell most of these kids have poor combat training, a lot of them are skinny too. All of a sudden a gong rang out and the other kids started to brawl it out.
I stood there in awe for a bit since this type of savagery is unknown in my village. But, I have to fight otherwise I wont get any food knocked out out or not. I noticed a slightly bigger Orc pounding on a small starving kid. Sliding from behind I balled up my fist and gave him the hardest punch I could.
But when my fist connected the Orc stopped whaling on the kid and turned to me. He didnt even seem hurt, but just pissed off that I stopped him from almost killing the other kid. "Hero no good." Then he gave me a punch so hard I flew back a bit. Being dazed, hungry, tired and feeling defeated I almost wanted to lay there and get beaten up so it could be over with faster.
But, I cant, my mom, my horrible dad, I cant fail them. This giant of an Orc kid started running at me with his fist in the air. I grabbed the sand around me and as he got just close enough I threw the sand in his eyes, his momentum didn't stop. As his body got closer to me with my last bit of strength I raised my foot and his balls came crashing.
He slouched over and began falling down on me, but I was able to barely slide my body out of the way. He crashed down on the floor, dust filled the air, but I could not stop otherwise he was sure to get back up. I raised my fist and slammed down to the back of his skull. Slouching myself back up, my fist raised again toward the sun and fell down, I heard a crack. Then lights were out, the sun set, the orc was either dead or knocked out.
But, the gong did not ring. The brawl was still going on, with my blurred vision I could make out a ramshackle hour glass and that thing was still not even half way finished. And unfortunately these dumb Orc kids noticed me. Maybe it was the fact I was bit pampered growing up, but my arms have never felt this heavy.
My head was spinning and the three fucks who started approaching me turned into nine. I tasted the blood, sand and probably an ant in my mouth. "COME GET ME YOU STUPID FUCKING ORCS!!!"
And they ran towards me, the nine turned back into three and I felt something in me change. My Dark Orc blood began to pump, I felt STRONG. My mother told me, "Warrior Orcs literally get stronger as they fight and Shaman Orcs have a powerful affinity to curses and dark magic, before you know it you just might unlock both in just one fight."
A sense of fear shook my enemies, they stood still from my battle cry. This might be the Shaman in me. Taking my chance I dashed toward the nearest Orc and slammed my fist into his face. He was knocked out in just one single punch. That HAS to be the Warrior in me.
The other two Orcs shook out of the fear and came running at me, compared to that big Orc these guys were much weaker, slower too. Blocking the first one, I grabbed his head and gave him a thundering head butt. As his teeth came out the other Orc punched through my guard and cracked a tooth of mine.
My fist crashed into the face, I could feel the bones in my fist shake. I thought that would've been enough but that Orc was still standing. He threw the widest punch known to Orc kind and with the final bits of my strength I threw a right cross straight into his chin. Putting him down for the count.
I fell to my knees, the gong didn't even ring yet. Of course the onslaught wasn't over, two more Orcs popped up to jump me while I was down. I got up on my shaky feet, and raised my guard. "This is it for me, I really have nothing left." As the two kids ran at me the gong finally rang, my guard fell and an expression of pure gladness reigned over my face.
I dragged myself to the area where the food was being passed around. It was porridge with random meats and potatoes inside. I ate my full and then some, I made sure I could eat everything I could because these kids wouldn't have shown me mercy either. I walked out of the gates where she was with her herd.
I slumped on her warm body and slept. "I'll call you Riaz, its my moms name." She heard me and I could see a smile on her face. This night is good.
