Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 - Vacation Package to Hell

While he was waving his hand up in the air, here and there, he accidentally tapped the play button again.

The video didn't care about his panic. It just continued.

[On your right side, you have teleported into Theodore.]

[Here we have many races, living all over the land.]

[From Demi-Humans to Humans. From Orcs to Ogres. From wolves in the jungle to Yetis in the mountain.]

[If you walk far enough, you may also find Goblins hiding in caves, Vampires sleeping in castles, and Slimes waiting in wells for unlucky newbies.]

[Oh, and don't forget the Dragons. Yes, Dragons. But don't worry, you will probably die before you even meet one.]

The cheerful voice said it all like it was selling him a travel package.

Liu Yang almost laughed. It didn't even sound like a real system.

It sounded more like a flight hostess, the kind who waves her hands left and right while telling you, "On your left side you have an emergency exit, and on your right side you have another emergency exit."

Only here it was, "On your left side, you have demi-humans, and on your right side you have ogres who will probably smash you into paste."

Liu Yang slapped his forehead. "What the hell is this… am I on a fantasy airplane to hell?"

The video didn't stop.

[In the cities you will find merchants ready to scam you, adventurers who think they are main characters, and priests who will bless you only if you donate gold first.]

[Every race has its own pride. Some will fight you. Some will ignore you. Some will eat you. Most will hate you. Have fun!]

Liu Yang almost cried. "Eat me?! Ignore me?! What the hell kind of world is this?!"

"Hey, System! On second thought, can you send me back home?" Liu Yang shouted, his eyes were closed tight.

"Hello? System?"

"I want my life back! Please!"

He started crying, his hands waving in the air like a spoiled kid.

He sniffled hard, the sound wet and ugly, his nose sucking in and leaking at the same time.

Tears kept rolling down his slim cheeks, sliding into his ears, making them itch, but he couldn't even move to wipe them.

His sharp jaw was shaking, his lips shaking too, like they couldn't stay still. His breath came out broken, half sob and half whine.

"I don't want this… I don't want to be a demon! Last time I saw a guy in a game get teleported as a slime, at least he was op… me?!"

He looked pitiful, like some kid crying after dropping ice cream, only worse because no one was there to comfort him.

He tried to twist but only managed to wiggle his legs a little. "Send me back to Earth! I'll even take my ugly face back! At least there I had Wi-Fi!"

The system beeped in his head.

[Quit Napping.]

[Look at the bright side.]

The words floated in front of his eyes and the soft voice in his head.

Liu Yang froze. His tears stopped for a second. He sniffled and waiting...

"Oh… oh! This is it! This is the moment! The bright side! I'm getting an overpowered skill, right? Like dimensional slash, demon punch, god mode?! Right?!"

He rubbed his hands together, his fingers crossed like he was praying in church. His eyes went big and round, sparkling like a puppy begging for food.

"Sooooo… what is the bright side, huh? Don't be shy, System, just say it!"

The screen blinked.

[Soldiers are coming to kill you from the side that is bright, because the sun is on that side.]

"…."

Liu Yang's face went blank.

"…That's the bright side?!"

"I guess… this is the end of me," Liu Yang muttered.

He lifted his hand slow, weak like it had no power left, and spread his fingers open. His arm shook as he held it up, the fingers wide apart, trying to block the sky like a kid pretending to catch it.

His eyes stared through the spaces between his fingers, the blue sky above not clear anymore but messy and wet, blurry because of the tears in his eyes.

He let out a dry laugh, his lips twitching. "So this is it… huh? This is the price I pay… just for getting hard in front of a goddess."

He was lying there, waiting to get killed. He accepted the reality, and he closed his eyes… like how a chicken puts its head down on the chopping block and waits for the knife.

But then, a soft system voice beeped in his head.

[System Initializing…]

[Loading 69%]

The glowing words moved again. The bar was crawling forward.

His eyes opened quick, like he was pulled awake from a nightmare. They were wet with tears but now shining with hope. He sniffled, wiped his face with the back of his hand, and a weak smile spread across his lips.

"H-haha… s-so it's not over yet…" he said with broken voice, half laugh and half sob, the voice shaking as tears still clung to his eyes.

Then he stayed there, lying on the ground with his arms wide open, like he had given up, his head tilted back, his eyes staring straight up at the system interface floating above him.

The loading bar was still there. It seemed to be stuck again… right on 69%.

"Hellooo?" he whispered. "Is it moving?"

He blinked a few times, but it didn't change. The number stayed the same.

Slowly, he raised his hand, his fingers were shaking, and he put one finger right in front of the glowing bar, trying to see if the bar was moving even a little bit or if it was just stuck there forever at 69.

"…Don't tell me this thing froze again," he muttered, his lips twisting.
