Ash woke up rubbing his eyes as he opened them . He removed the sheets covering him and stretched.
' What time is it ? ' he wondered as he looked out the window and saw the sun was barely up .
' Not past afternoon so that's good ' he thought as he sat up got off the bed .
" Don't want to be late for getting a starter " he knew all three teens ( including him ) who passed the test were going to get a starter pokemon from professor oak but that doesn't mean he wanted to be the last one there .
He rubbed away the sleep in his eyes then canceled the Alarm that had not gone off yet and went straight down stairs.
As came down stairs he saw his mum making breakfast with the TV was on .
Noticing he had woken up , she smiled greeting him "morning " she said .
" morning " he replied back sitting down on the table.
" How did you sleep ? " she asked putting the plate of breakfast in front him.
" I slept well " he said beginning to to eat .
" Well today is the day you start your journey , are ready ? "
" Yep , and I've already know which starter I'm going to pick " It was hard but he had decided his choice.
" Well your aced the test not a lot of teens pass so I know you'll be okay " She had full confidence in him .
Not everyone got high enough scores on the test to get official regional starters . Most still passed but got other pokemon like meowth , pikachu or pidgey .
He had made sure that he would be ready for his journey by learning as much as possible.
As he continued eating he looked at the TV as it showed the news talking about something regarding tentacool.
Grabbing the remote he turned up the volume to get a better clue of what they're talking about , out of curiosity.
" - and so we warn those who are near the shore of lavender town about the small mass outbrake of tentacool , the league are currently dealing with it and trainers who seek to catch one in the outbreak are free to join but are told to be careful. "
' oh , a mass outbrake ' mass outbrakes is something that started to appear a few years ago . Nobody knows why but it happens when a large number of a pokemon species suddenly appear in a single area for unknown reasons and nobody knows why . Some say it's for food , a few say for matting , others say it's when the area can't hold the number of pokemon as it did before because of new eggs hatching or no more space to live .
But it's still a mystery to everyone. Even professor oak can't get a proper idea why , only a few possibilities and idea's.
They can also be very dangerous . Dealing with an outbrake of raticate is one thing but an outbrake of gyarados is something completely different. ' Unfortunately some poeple will risk it because with such a large number of pokemon you were bound to find a shiny ' he thought looking at a man on the screen who was cheering after catching a shiny tentacool with others looking at him in jealousy .
A horde of pokemon is one thing but a mass outbrake is completely different because of how it can bloke routes , roads and force towns to go on lock down .
Knowing it won't effect his journey because the league will have it cleared up soon, he changed the channel .
It changed to the battle channel showing a fight between leon and a random trainer .
' wait was that today ? I fogot aboutthismatch' . He didn't forget this battle because he didn't think they weren't good , he forgot because he knew leon was going to sweep the battle anyway.
He wasn't a Fanboy , but he wasn't a hater either. He just wasn't interested in seeing him battle anyone that wasn't an elite four or a champion .
Him beating a random trainer was not something he looked foward to . It wasn't a surprise when won at times , even if the opponent was one of the few to win the galar league tournament.
" even if he does more public tounament battles than the other champions -[ I can't remember the last time i saw elder in a full 6 on 6 battle - ] it's useless if it's not against someone that makes the battle interesting" . He said looking at Leon's rilaboom defeat the opposing volcarona with acrobatics.
" the volcarona of trainer tobias is unable to battle, the winner is leon's rillaboom " the ref called out and the crowd cheered at yet another victory by leon .

Switching off the TV ash grabbed his plate and placed it in the sink .
' he is strong though but I'm more interested in seeing him in an actual battle . I guess that makes both of us '.

" I sure you have everything " delia asked worried about him .
" Yes mum I have everything, rotom phone, sleeping bad , lamp , I'm good " he said trying calm her down.
" don't forget to stop after after professor oak ok ? "
" I will mum , I have to go now or I'll be late " he told her as he left .
As he walked to the lab he took this opportunity to think about future plans.
He didn't plan to catch two pokemon of the same type even if they didn't share the same weakness .
And his chances of catching pokemon were limited because route 1 only had mostly pidgey and rattata's. Sometimes there are other pokemon but it's rare .
He continued to think as he walked . He brought himself out of his thoughts as he arrived .
He smiled as he looked at the lab . ' today's the day ' he thought as he looked at the building . he could feel the psychic energy barrier that professor's Alakazam had around the lab to prevent unwanted intruders from teleporting in , however before he could enter he heard something . As he looked away from the building and saw a house with a lot's of empty boxes outside of it .one of the of boxes had fallen over.
' they must have just moved in town ' he realized.
' I didn't see them yesterday, maybe they just moved in town last night or this morning ' he wondered.
But he didn't let that distract him and continued making his way in the lab .

[ professor oaks lab ]
He walk in the lab past everyone .he said hello the one's that greeted him but he was to focused on reaching the place where he was supposed to meet the professor.
He walked through the lab , past the pokemon and tech , It never got old . It was always awe inspiring it with all the advanced technology and informations .
Spying a look to the side he saw a screen with pictures of two gastrodons , east and west to be exact. With a man and woman both writing somethings down , while a man talked to them on the screen via a smaller window below on the left .
" I wonder if there are north and south gastrodons " he wondered to himself.
Hey new pokemon are being discovered all the time so who knows .
He kept walking and saw other things , like pictures of tentacools from the mass outbrake , a video about a poliwrath vs a venasaur , and a bio analysis on maganiun .
" as much as I want to check at all of these out I can't. " He muttered.
He finally arrived and saw professor there waiting for him .
" Hi professor " ash greeted him .
The professor looked up from the computer he was watching and saw him.
" Oh ash you've arrived right on time " he said with a smile
Ash looked and saw all three pokeballs were still there . ' I'm not late , that's good ' he thought .
" Your here finally ashy-boy , I thought you would late " a familiar voice said behind him .
Knowing the owner of said voice ash rolled his eye's and turned around .
" Gary " he said turning to said person behind him . Who stood there a smirk on his face .
Professor oak seeing them glaring at each other decided to break the silente conflict .
" he arrived before you did a few minutes ago" he said looking in between the two .
They have been rivals since they were kids . Always competing to be the best . Always trying to outdo one another in anyway , it doesn't matter if it's about knowing pokemon , battling or who was smarter they were very competitive when trying to prove who was better than the other .
" Why don't we get to why your here today " he knew that this day was why they have been fighting each other for since childhood and it was time for them to start there journey.
This caused the two to immediately stop fighting at hearing the professor and turn to to the one thing that they were here for today.
" I see you finally stopped fighting and remembered why we're here " a voice said at the corner if the room .
Both ash and gary looked and saw non other than there friend leaf .
" leaf when did you get you here ? " ash asked confused which was something gary was also wondering.
" got here while you two were arguing , I could have taken one of the starters and you wouldn't have noticed me " she rolled her eyes at the two , for the two who scored the highest in the test's they could be childish at times .
At the mention of starters caused gary to turn to the three pokeballs the professor had infront of him , ash and leaf followed soon.
' this is it , my chance to carve my own future , soon I won't be in gramps shadow anymore and people will know me as the best of trainer in kanto ' . Gary thought , seriously determined . He had been waiting for this day for years and now it was finally here.
" the three pokeballs here on this table each contain the pokemon that will carry you to you dreams should you train them right " . Said oak with a very serious expression and strick tone .
Ash looked at them. He had been thinking of this momment since forever , all three were fantastic . Blastoise had defense , charizard had speed , venasaur had versatility but they all had power.
' a difficult choice to some but after much thinking I made my choice ' .ash thought calmly.
" which one of you will go first ? " professor oak asked them curiously .
" i will since these two love fighting each other , it might give them time to think " . Leaf said with a smirk teasing them as she went to choose her starter.
Gary had wanted wanted to go first but choose to let her go to think about his choices better.
And ash had already studied and planned for whatever starter he got even if it wasn't the one he wanted.
After leaf had chosen her pokemon- Bulbasaur to be exact - it was time for the next one to choose.
" Next one " professor oak smiled at the two .
Gary went foward looking at the two remaining pokeballs with the fire and water symbols and then picked up the water one .
" I choose Squitle " he said smiling holding the pokeball in his hand .
Professor smiled at him because he had always talked about this day and now he finally had his own starter it was time see how much he would deliver on his promises.
" And finally ash " oak said looking at the last teen .
Said boy walked foward calmly no emotions of any kind. No excitement or fear , just calm until he stood there in front of the pokeball . Breathing in deeply he reached out and grabbed the sphere.
" so do you choose charmander ? " the professor asked a smile on his face . It sounded stupid because it was the only pokemon left but he wanted to hear ash say it .
" Yes professor , I choose charmander " ash said with a big smile appearing on his face as he held the pokeball with the fire sticker symbol .
" good " he just knew that all three will go far .

After they got there pokeballs [ around 10 to be exact ] and there rotom phones along with a few more things they said goodbye to professor oak made there way outside .
" Man these rotom phone are amazing and we're the only trainers in kanto that has them ! " gary said . He knew these things were fancy with the way gramps was talking about them but hearing it and seeing are two completely different things .
" I know , video recorder , camera , pokemon radar , video chats , news feeds , and more . Heck there's even a pokedex app " ash said amazed at the small device .
" yeah now when I destroy you two in battle battle I can catch it on video " leaf told them with a smug look on her face as she looked at them .
" ha you wish " gary scoffed at her.
" have to be careful though . A lot of people would want to " accidentally " find these " ash warned them . It doesn't matter if they sell or take it for there own , they Need to keep there rotom phones carefully hidden.
" Yeah from my cold dead hands " gary declared the device went into his pocket.
" Well I have to go I need to say good bye my mom " ash sighed . This wasn't going to be easy .
" Same " Said leaf after putting her new tech away.
" Can't say goodbye to parents you don't have " gary replied nonchalantly .
' I'm not getting into that conversation ' ash grimaced walking away.

" make sure you call me when you get to viridian city ok ? " .
" i will " she worried to much .
" Just be safe and don't do anything stupid " she told him .
" I won't mum I promise " he told her sincerely.
She could worry so much sometimes .
" So have you met your starter yet " she tried to distract herself from feeling sad .
" I'm going to , but only when I get to route 1 because i want to meet him in a calm place and the town feels to crowded and confusing ". He said looking around. The town was nice but he wanted somewhere more quiet.
" Your a trainer ?! " someone called out behind him .
As he turned around he saw a boy there with a woman next to him .
This caused delia to smile and turn to them .
" Oh ash this is Kate and her son ray . They just moved here " she introduced him .
" me and delia were just talking " she told him smiling.
" So you got a pokemon how ?" Ray asked loudly.
" Ray ?!" His mother scolded him angry
' wow what's with this guy it's like he never seen a pokemon before ' ash wondered confused and surprised.
" sorry about him when we moved here he heard about how you could get pokemon here from the lab and has been obsessed about getting one " She said sheepishly apologizing .
" It's ok , kids will be kids " delia said understanding her .
" I tried to get one at the lab but they told me a bunch of complicated stuff and that they couldn't give me one , so how did you get a starter " he said his expression annoyed at ash .
Trying not to punch the kid ash answered the question. " I was one of the trainers that got a high enough score on the test to get one of the regional starters . You can't just get one just like that unless your already a trainer. " ash told him Professionality.
The kid hearing that looked at him and his pokeball with a bitter expression.
' What's his problem ?. Did he think he could just get hear and just get a starter like that . Damien and Ritchie did the test and they only got a Nidoran and a pikachu .'
" Well I have to go now mum i'll call you when I get to viridian city " ash said hugging her one last time before leaving .
" Ok bye, be safe " she told him as he left waving goodbye.
"Bye " Kate said also waving goodbye .
But Ray just stood there glaring at ash as he left . He didn't miss the fire sticker on the pokeball that told him ash got charmander. The pokemon he had always wanted .
' next year ' hethought .

" so it's confirmed that some kanto originated pokemon with alola forms have been sighted in paldea ?" A scientist asked confused.
" Yes but not all of them , only the ones that can survive in the regions climate ". Professor oak said reading the reports.
As they both discussed the topic further they were interrupted by a female scientist .
" Professor oak , lance called and said he might be late because of an incident at the safari zone and told you start the meeting without him " she told him .
A surprised expression appeared on his face before he shook it off .
" Oh ! well , noted thank you " he told her nodding .
as she walked off he couldn't help but think how about how strange that the safari zone was having a problem.
' Does it have something to do with the warden ? . I know he can be a handful and has shown anger at the those who try to catch a dratini but he is still old .'
" - we have just received reports of dark clouds rolling in from the north west. Readings have said that while it is not a large storm people have been advised to get inside as it will pass by shortly you may experience a bit of electrical problems but they shouldn't be severe , we thank you for your understanding " with that the news feed cut off .
Professor oak having been snapped out of his thoughts looked confused at the news feed .
' an incoming storm ? Just now ? that wasn't that wasn't in the weather reports ' it was weird as technology keeps improving he couldn't remember the last time there was a sudden change in the weather .
" what a busy morning " he sighed , and some people view old age as the calm years .
' At least it's probably just poachers and a couple of dark clouds . Lance should handle it shortly and ash might reach viridian city before the storm even arrives at pewter . Worst comes to mind lance has to filled in on everything because he had to take down a couple of bums and ash gets dowsed in some light rain nothing more ' Professor oak thought shaking off any worry and fear .
