The Next Day
Luna wakes up early in the morning and freshens up for breakfast.
The smell of breakfast drifts through the stairs as Luna is coming down. Mom, having already set up the breakfast, looks up and says "Eat up, You've got a big day ahead of you. Can't start a journey on an empty stomach."
"Thank you Mom." I say while sitting down for breakfast.
While dad who set aside the newspaper he was reading is now seated in front of says "Remember—routes can be unpredictable. Stick to the paths, keep an eye out for wild Pokémon, and don't push yourself too hard the first day."
"I know Dad" I say trying to ease their worries.
"Dr. Oak will explain it properly," Mom added softly, "But we are worried, also don't forget to pack potions and medicine for emergency"
"I will be fine" I say after finishing my breakfast and standing up to get by stuff
"I have been learning a lot from Dr. Oak about Pokemon the last few years."
"I am going to say goodbye to Arcanine and others" I say after grabbing my backpack I rush to the garden to say goodbye to my parents Pokemons.
The garden is quite big, around the size of a small battle field. There is a large lake towards the east which covers around one fifth of the garden. There are many trees towards the north with one large tree that is much more noticeable than the others.
Towards the west is an area connected to a large battle field and training field for my parent's Pokemon.
In the middle of the garden lies a big Arcanine. He is considered to be about 20% larger than a regular Arcanine. He was my Mom's Ace Pokemon when she was an investigator. It is said that the Growlithe eggs in that batch also had an egg from Mr. Blaine's Arcanine, One of the representative Pokemon of the Cinnabar Gym. So I am pretty sure that this Arcanine might be that one.
On the large tree perches a Noctowl. He used to be one the most used pokemon for my Mom when she was still active.
In the lake you can see Lapras swimming around. She used to be my mom's most reliable water pokemon.
I looked around for a while and didn't see the last two Pokemon.
My Mom's Alakazam. She must have gone to professor's lab to help
And my dad's Corviknight. He might be delivering important Dad's documents somewhere.
"Everyone I will be starting my journey today" I say as I approach Arcanine to cuddle with for the last time in the foreseeable future. "This might be the last time for a while". I cuddled with him a little longer than usual, to which Arcanine responded with having his mane rub against me in a way that he was a bit sad to say goodbye.
"Take good care of Mom." I say as I reluctantly pull myself away from Arcanine as he lets out a growl of agreement.
Then as I am walking towards the artificial forest Noctowl lands near me. He used to be my night time partner when I was up late writing reports for the lab.
"I suppose you won't have to watch over me regularly to report me to my mom anymore." I say as I stroke his feathers which are softer than they look.
"Thank you for keeping me company for all those late night study sessions" I say while stroking him for the last time. After that he nods and flies back to his tree.
Then I walk towards the lake to meet up with Lapras. As she reaches the shore Lapras steps out of the lake and stretches her neck for a hug.
"Yes, I will come back to ride in the rivers with you." I say as I hug her. I used to go with Lapras when she swam in the river nearby so she is quite sad at losing her playmate.
After hugging her for a while I said goodbye to everyone one last time before heading towards Dr. Oak's lab.
I adjusted my backpack as the professor's lab came into view. I have walked this path countless times but this time it felt different. Today I am not here carrying notes and books to help the professor but here as a trainer to receive my Pokemon and go on a journey.
When I reached the lab there was a young man leaning against the fence twirling a Pokeball with his fingers. He is Gary Oak, Dr. Oak's Grandson.
"Hey Luna I thought you would be here faster with how much running around you did when you were grampa's assistant"
He said while waving his hands to me.
"I was saying goodbye to my parent's pokemon so it took a little longer. Some things are worth the time." I say unbothered by his sarcasm.
"Fair enough." He shrugs and says "At least you are here. Ash is still nowhere to be seen. He is most likely still holding a trophy in his dreams."
"That does sound like him. Still, he will make it. He wouldn't miss today" I say with a slight smile on my face.
"If he does, it will be just like him to stumble in late and cry that all of the pokemon are taken" he says while putting the Pokeball on his belt.
"Maybe Dr. Oak will figure something out"
I say calmly.
He observes me for a while and says "Seems like the rumour about you getting a specially requested Pokemon from the league is true. It seems like being grampa's star assistant did come with some benefits."
"That is true" I say, acknowledging his statement.
"But don't think that puts you ahead of me. Special gift or not, I'll still be the first." He says not hiding his arrogance.
I met his arrogance with composure. "Then I suppose we will see where the road will take us"
"We will. Go on grampa's waiting for you." He says motioning towards the lab door.
"See you later, Gary." I say as I passed by him
"Yeah, See you later." He says while looking in the direction of Ash's house.
As I open the lab door with excitement I am greeted by Dr. Oak "I thought you'd be here earlier Luna." Dr. Oak asks curiously.
"I was saying goodbyes so it was a bit late" I replied a bit embarrassed.
"Ah, so that's what it was, that certainly is not a bad thing." Say Dr. Oak in acknowledgement of my actions.
"Well let's go and get you your pokemon." Says Dr. Oak taking me towards the pokemon storage device.
"Here's the Pokemon you requested from the league." He says while handing me a Pokeball he picked up from the device.
"Thank you professor." I say while trying to hide my excitement and grab the Pokeball.
At the same time as I grabbed the Pokeball I heard a sound in my mind
[First Pokemon Acquired Starting The System].
